ANSWER 1 - April 5, 2008 I have a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo which has the same engine as your Passport, assuming you have a 3.2L V6. I have had the same problem as you, putting 3 different remanufactured alternators on with no success. I finally went to an auto electric shop and got an new alternator (vs. remanufactured) and it fixed the problem, all to the tune of $514.00 for labor and the alternator! Remanufactured alternators have bad voltage regulators in them. On the Rodeo and Passport, the voltage regulators are grounded to the Engine Control Module. The Heater/AC blower is also grounded here also, so when the alternator is not charging, the blower doesn't work. On the right side of this type of alternator, there is a plug connection. The alternator has the "male" terminals, while the "female" terminals are from the vehicles electrical system. One of the "male" terminals, known as the "C" terminal, connects the voltage regulator to the ECM (engine control module). As stated previously, in remanufactured alternators, the voltage regulators appear to be faulty, a problem that has been in exsistence since the 1980's, whereas the voltage regulators do not emit the proper voltage. While I did get all of the remanufactured alternators from Advance Auto Parts, they obviously to not remanufacture them, so it is not really Advance Auto Parts blame, however I wonder why they continue to sell them, as a recall has been previously issued regarding this problem. I am confident that if you replace your alternator with a completely new one, not remanufactured, and your problems should cease to exsist! In addition to the above, obviously you should disconnect your battery prior to doing anything, check the tension of your belts(s), and make sure your battery is ok. It they're all OK, drive (if it's drivable) to an auto parts store and have them test your alternator. If the alternator tests OK, have them test the starter. Chances are, one of those items are the culprit.

jack up the car so the wheel is off the ground there will be 1 bolt on the bottom and 3 on the top undo them shock will come out may hav to undo sway bar, will hav to compress spring to take it off strut. if its got seprate springs and shocks dont hav to jack it up so much 1 bolt top and bottom.

In the owners manual it says the check engine light is related to the emissions system. When my check engine light went on it was because my EGR Valve was clogged and simply needed to be cleaned. There are a lot of threads here and other places explaining how to replace and or clean an EGR Valve. It is a very simple replacement to perform.

According to the experts at my local Advace Auto Parts _ There is a 3 prong plug located in or near the leftside "Kick Panal" just below the steering whell, you short between the outer two pins with a short wire then count the flashes of the "Check Engine" light, take note of the number of flashes and look in a service manual or try going to your local auto parts store and they will be able to tell you what the codes mean.

There are four O2 sensors on a 1998 Honda Passport, so when you have it put on a computer and it shows up "O2 Sensor" make sure to get more info such as Right bank, Left bank, etc, or it will be just a shot in the dark which one is bad. They are pretty easy to find just follow your exhaust system out from the engine.

You have to service it from the fill plug on the transmission itself. You must therefore get underneath the vehicle and locate fill plug which is located on the transmission pan. There are usually two plugs. The drain plug which is the lowest one to the ground lets say. And the fill plug which is the higher one located in the indentation of the trans oil pan. Anyway that's how you check and fill the fluid..as far as changing the trans filter you have to remove all the transmission pan bolts and take pan off then take trans filter out if you need too due to dirtyness etc..and simply replace filter and fluid in reverse order..if you havent ever done any of this you might want some help the first time. Its messy but really easy..just do it and never overtighten your trans pan bolts when you put pan back on...also on the Isuzu and Honda passport the trans pan does not need silicon it is a self sealing gasket.. "usually". You can tell this by the pattern on the gasket it self..You will see what im talking about if you actually look at one..some people may dbate this but after doing 1000 of them mine never leak...hope this helps..good luck..and if you don't do it you wont learn...

It is probably your fuel sending unit gone bad. Have seen multiple posts on this problem.

There is a plug on the passenger side of the transmission you take the plug off and stick your finger in and the fluid should be to the bottom of the hole where the plug came off. Make sure it is on the side of the transmission not the drain plug on the bottom. The plug should be a 17mm wrench
