Radiator has oil in and overheating?

A pretty sure sign of head gasket failiure But may be an oil cooler leaking into the waterway that is causing the problem if your car has one fitted good luck

How do you clean the gunk out of a radiator overflow tank?

Remove the tank Take it to one of those pressure car washes Pressure wash it out Take home Rinse well Reinstall Add correct coolant mixture to the tank. Consider cleaning the cooling system out with a cleaner and replacing the radiator cap. Gunk in the tank indicates gunk in the cooling system.

How do you bleed your 1999 Honda CRV cooling system if its bleed nipple is broken?

You're simply going to have to have it removed and replace it. That nipple is at the lowest point in the system and there is no other way to drain it unless you have the system power flushed.

Why is there engine oil in your radiator?

You are screwed to say the least, most likely what has happened is your coolant has chewed through to the cylinder heads and check to see if you see thick white smoke coming out of your exhaust pipe. The white smoke would mean that your engine is burning coolant. Unfortunately you will probably need a new car.
Genrally if you have oil in the radiator it could mean that you have a bad head gasket Probably a blown intake or head gasket.
Oil in a radiator is not good. Means you have a leaking head gasket.

Or oil to water cooler.
blown headgasket or cracked block

With A blown head gasket or cracked block there will be water in the oil.

With a transmission oil cooler leak in the radiator there will be coolant in the transmission.
Somehow there's an open path between coolant channels and oil channels. Can be a blown head gasket, a crack in the cylinder head, or in the block.

If the car has an oil cooler as an integrated part of the radiator, there might be a leak there too.

A shop should be able to pressurize the system which can help figuring out where the leak is.

How to fix a 1996 Honda civic radiator hose?

Where is the radiator drain plug on a 2002 Kia Sedona?

It took me an hour to find it on my 2003 Sedona. Let's assume your '02 is similar. After putting the van up on ramps I removed the bottom mud flap. It's rubber and is held in place with six 10 mm bolts. There is also an angle bracket attached to this flap in the center that latches to an overhead support, but there are no bolts on this bracket. The drain plug is on the right (passenger) side, pointing aft, and can be unscrewed by extending your right hand up from the bottom center. It's black and plastic and is meant to be unscrewed by hand. Next time I change the coolant I may try to unscrew what I think is the engine block drain bolt (looked like a 12 mm one). It is clearly visible with flashlight looking up from the bottom of the van toward the right hand side. Hope this helps. Tom

Where is the radiator cap and drain plug on a 1996 Saturn SL2?

Well the Saturn creator decided to be dumb and put only one radiator cap!! Its Its on the overflow tank (on the passenger side near the back wall of the engine bay). Its the only way to the radiator.

The drain plug is underneath the radiator on the passenger side. Just rotate the petcock (you may have to pull it once rotated) then the fluid drains out. Don't forget to take the cap off of the overflow tank when draining the coolant!

1996 Acura Intagra coolant leaks from the top of radiator. Coolant inside the radiator seems OK only the coolant in the reservoir is used up. How do you fix?

Hopefully it's just leaking from either the radiator cap, or the upper hose. Either can easily be replaced. If the radiator itself is damaged, there's not a lot you can do. Replacement of the entire radiator is probably required. Seeing there's a bit of pressure in the cooling system a simple patch up job probably won't last long. You can probably put repair off for a while, but if there's a crack or hole in the radiator it will only get larger with time. Best of luck.

How do you get the air out of the cooling system?

Keep the overflow tank filled to its FULL line. Find the highest point in the cooling system; open it very slightly. Sometimes the highest point is the radiator cap. Sometimes the highest point is at a hose clamp. Very rarely there is a bolt that is meant to be loosened to let air out of the cooling system (example 1995 Mustang) You will hear air coming out. Keep filling the overflow tank. Then re-tighten the part that you opened. Also you will want to have the car's heater on HIGHEST/HOTTEST while doing this because the heater is connected to the cooling system.

Why is coolant in a car's radiator pressurized?

Pressurised coolant boils at a higher temperature than unpressurised

What is Barr's Stop Leak?

What can you do when your car is overheating?

I had a ford contour that overheated a lot. Took it to several mechanics and no one could find a reason to why it was overheating. Since I couldn't fix the problem, I just kicked on the AC when it started to run too warm and that kept it at normal running temp.

Where is the drain plug located on a '96 Ford Contour?

If it is the engine oil you are talking about it is on the bottom of the pan.

Why would you lose coolant in the reserve bottle of a 1995 Civic even when radiator hose pipes are in perfect state?

Most commonly this is due to overheating or a blown head gasket. Overheating causes the coolant to expand, and rush into the resevoir, then overflow it. When cool, the coolant that remains will be sucked back into the engine. A blown head gasket can cause the coolant to enter the firing chambers of the engine then be blown out the tailpipe, or the compression can leak into the coolant area and push the coolant out, or allow the coolant to get into the oil pan.
