I do not know about the SL1, but often there is a relay for high current circuits such as headlights. You could check for proper operation of the high-beam headlight switch at the excitation terminal of the relay and check for headlight circuit energy at the output on the relay.

I believe this are done with a press. You have have to remove the wheel hub and take it to a machine shop to have the old one pressed out and the new one pressed in.

First remove serpentine belt, loosen power steering mount bolts and remove, leave lines hooked up. Remove hose clamp holding intake hose to intake manifold from air filter. Remove fuel line and any vaccum hoses that wont remain with the manifold when it is taken off. Remove the fuel rail gently from the injectors. Remove all the nuts from the intake manifold, there is one nut down low on the passenger side of the manifold that is hard to get at and even see, I had to use a mirror so I could see to get my tools in place. Probably got a little moister in the bottom of the tank, Use a bottle of dry gas when ya fill your tank. may have to do this for a few tanks.

It sounds to me like you have a rod knock. You will mostlikely need a new motor.

It could be as simple as a few bolts need to be tightened, or it could be a worn/failed seal.

start by taking off the passager side tire unscrew the inner wheel well alternator should sit right in front of you (2) 15mm bolts and (1) 10 mm bolt. good luck

The intermediate shaft is the shaft going to the driver side wheel from the tranny. The shaft is suppose to eliminate what you call torque steer, It comes straight from the tranny and bolts to the engine block with a bearing race to hold the shaft and at that brace is where the half shaft, or drive shaft connects to the intermediate shaft and to the driver side hub.

If they share a common engine then it may. The 8th digit in VIN is the engine code. You can also tell by visually ensuring parts are identical.

No, unfortunately you must drop the fuel tank to get to the fuel pump. Very few vehicles have an access panel, and the Saturn's do not seem to be among those that do.

Unfortuneately the most likely (only) problem is the ignition switch shorted internally If you look at the wires going into the switch you will most likely see that a black wire is melted This is a ground wire for the switch All the insulation may be bubbled or melted right off You need a switch and that wire replaced if you see this. Either way i think you need a switch

I just finished a front and rear brake job on my 2000 SL2. I first went to Just Brakes and they told me what was wrong and wrote up a huge estimate. I couldn't afford that, so I went to the public library and checked out a Chilton repair guide. It has step by step instructions with pictures. Everything on the front discs are basically bolt on. The rear was a little trickier. I had to replace the wheel cylinders, so everything had to come off. Just take your time and only do one side at a time so you can look at the other. A good tip is to buy the rear spring kit and the tool to take the shoe clips off with. It took me about 3 hours to do everything and I saved over $300

$35 front calipers x 2

$16 rear shoes

$12 wheel cylinders x 2

$11 spring kit

$20 to have drums and rotors turned Good luck.

The vehicle speed sensor is between the transmission and the engine from the front of the the engine bay, there is also a vehicle wheel speed sensors in in each tire

When you hold the gas pedal to the floor you are clearing a flooding condition. There is several possibilities as to the cause. The fuel pressure regulator or the throttle position sensor is defective. You need to take it to a REPAIR shop and have them diagnosis the problem. A parts house will read the codes and sell you parts that may not fix your problem.

High pressure in a car's cooling system might be caused by exhaust gases from normal engine combustion entering the cooling system. The exhaust gases might be entering the coolant due to a head gasket that is leaking, or perhaps even due to a cracked engine block. Note that under normal operation, cooling systems are pressurized due to the heat expansion of the coolant. However, if a fairly new radiator and/or hose has burst, or if the coolant hoses connecting to the radiator are rigid with pressure, this is abnormally high pressure.

I have the same problem, same year of car too, I do have a manual window crank, they told me to unscrew the 9-10 screws and the outside panel comes off.

I guess to be totally safe, I have to run through the procedure on how to disable your air bag system before i get any further into detail on this. First remove the Air bag fuse from the Inside fuse panel. make sure your steering wheel is absoulutly strait, and your wheels are pointing strait ahead. Under the dash at the base of the steering column is a yellow wire connector, you must disconnect that connector. using a 7mm socket, remove the two hold down screws in the upper dash plate, located in the middle of the dash, under the two plastic covers. slowly pry up along the front edge of the dash plate to loosen the spring clips, once all the clips are free, lift the plate up, and pull out. Under the foam insulator, on the passanger side, there will be a 2nd yellow connector for the passanger side air bag. disconnect this wire as well.

Now you can start to replace your wiper switch. Remove the 4 screws in the steering column housing. you will need to use 1/4" socket and rachet set. the small screws in the housing are 7/32 in size. once all 4 screws are moved, slowly pry off the retainer ring around the ignition lock cylinder, and remove the housings from both top and bottom. On the back side of the steering wheel are two plastic covers. remove the covers and remove the screws from inside the wheel. these screws are 8mm i believe. once they are out, firmly grab your air bag from the center of the steering wheel. slowly pull it away to reveil a yellow connector on the backside. carefully (they are fragile) remove the connector from the air bag. Place the air bag in a safe spot, usually in the back seat, so it is not disturbed. Once inside the wheel, if you have curise control, disconnect the wireing, also disconnect the wireing to the horn switches, and any other connectors that come through the wheel. Remove the large hold down nut in the center of the wheel. I believe this is a 21mm nut. Using a Steering wheel removal tool, remove the wheel. Once the wheel is removed, you will see in the center of the column, a round unit with lots of stickers. this is your air bag positioning sensor. please note the location of the white nylon sleeve down the center, it uses two different size tabs to line up inside the sensor. remove the 3 holding bolts, and slowly pull the sensor out, making sure not to turn it at all. place this with the air bag, so that nothing can disturb it. From here, remove the 3 hold down bolts in the multi-combination switch along with the wireing harnesses. the switch assembly should pull off easialy now. Installation is reverse of removal. Please use all caution when installing the air bag components.

anti theft will not reset. have tried key, unpluging pin switch, everything i can think of. please help.

You clean or replace it.
