How long will Volkswagen beetle last?
Forever. The Volkswagen Beetle is the most loved car in history, so it's the classic car with the very best parts availability. With very, very few examples, you can get a new example of any part for any Bug and have it shipped to you in a couple of days--or at least a part that WILL work if you make it. The biggest example of a No Longer Available new part is the trunk lid for a Super Beetle. This is because Volkswagen sold the stamping die set to an Italian company, and they broke it. The hardest part to get for one seems to be a tire--VW uses a skinny 165R15 tire that doesn't fit on anything else. You can get them, but it takes some searching. (Pep Boys has them. Tire Rack does not, which is weird because they have everything else.)

How do you replace a serpentine belt on a 2000 Chevy Impala?
use a ratchet to loosen the mounting bolt on the alternator and pivot it down. now the belt should be loose. slip the belt off. slip the new one on. pivot the alternator back into position and tighten the mounting bolt. to get an exact fit before loosening the mounting bolt make a mark across the mounting bolt and mount so you can line it up when tightning. Chev Impala 3.8 ltr 2000 and earlier. 1) Remove stabilizer bar, 2 nuts on each side on top of strut mounts. 2) Remove coolant recovery tank and recovery tube, crimp tube lightly with small pair of vise grips so coolant will not drain out. 3)Using a 1/2" drive ratchet with a 15 mm socket place the ratchet on the self tension pully bolt. Pull up on the ratchet as if you are trying to loosen the bolt ( pully bolt will not undo ) using enough force to overcome the torque of the tension spring. This procedure will push the pully down enough to slip of the serpetine belt. Reverse procedure to install new belt.

Route the new belt as illustrated reinstall the new tensioner. Start the car, run for two minutes. Shutdown and check your work.

Do you need a special tool to replace the serpentine belt on a Toyota Celica?
Need the same information... must call ford. won't buy another one!!!! There IS a special belt tensioner tool you can buy, but a long ratchet or breaker bar works fine. Simply turn the tensioner to loosen the belt. It is the only pulley that is egg shaped. The tension pully is a spring loaded "idler" pulley, AND the ONLY ONE which IS NOT "driving" something, like the alternator, power steering pump, smog pump, radiator fan, etc. On most cars it is about 5 or 6 inches in diameter, and generally located "higher" on the front of the engine. It is mounted on a spring loaded "arm," which is how it maintains the "tension." As Answer 3 says, a long ratchet handle [or better, a breaker bar], with a socket which properly fits the tension pulley mounting bolt will do as well as the expensive dedicated "tool."
How do you replace the serpentine belt on a 1997 Buick Riviera super charger?
As you attempt to change the serpentine belt for the supercharger on this car, the complication you have likely run into is that the belt is looped through the cast mounting bracket that is bolted to the engine block with three bolts, and one of them you can't get to because it's behind a pulley. Fear not friend, you do not have to remove the bracket to remove or reinstall the belt. You only need to take out the one bolt on the bottom leg of the cast bracket (actually a nut on a stud). The nut needs to come off, and the stud needs to come out. That bottom leg of the casting is connected to the block via a spacer, which falls out when the stud is removed. The belt can be removed from the 3 legged cast bracket by passing it through the opening left by the spacer. You first need to take out the motor mount that connects the 3 legged casting to the car's frame near the wheel well -- the horizontal cylindrical shaped thing with rubber inside. You do that by jacking the engine upwards until all the weight of the engine is supported by the jack (use a flat piece of wood to protect the oil pan. Then the two horizontal mount bolts will come off. There are two 15mm bolts underneath that mount, and they only need to be loosened, not taken out. The mount slides upwards and off both of those bolts via slots. With that thing out, and the lower casting stud removed, the spacer comes out and you can change the belt with no more than the usual difficulty making the belt go where it's supposed to. Good luck, and enjoy your supercharged Buick!
Serpentine means "snake-like". The serpentine belt is the belt found on many vehicles that "snakes around and runs key components such as alternator, waterpump, power steering pump and air conditioner. It is a single belt that runs multiple components as opposed to vehicles without serpentine belts which usually have separate belts for each component. ie. alternator belt, power steering pump belt.

How do you get a belt diagram for a 1986 dodge ram van with a 318 engine?
This may sound sarcastic, but have you looked under the hood, alot of the time there is a sticker with belt diagram and emissions information either actually stuck on the underside of the hood or radiator cross support.
Actually belts are pretty much self explanatory as to where they go on an engine. If you stand at the front of the vehicle where you can look straight across the pulleys you can see how they line up, and that is pretty much where the belts go. You must determine which set of pulleys is the first set to install the belt on and progress outward from there. A lot of times the Alternator and the air injection pumps will run on separate smaller belts which only fit on their respective pulleys. Your NEW belts will be close to or slightly smaller than your old ones, and you might have to adjust the various sliders for them to where you can get the new tight belts on. When you are adjusting the new belts for tension, there should be between 1/2" and 1" of "give" in the belts at their mid travel point or as close to it as you can get. The only belts I can think of which really need diagrams are the serpentine ones on th enewer vehicles, and MOST of them have the diagram somewhere under the hood.
How do you change serpentine belt change 1993 Jeep Wrangler?
First, there should be a diagram of the serpentine belt and pulley system on the top of the radiator fan cowling. If there is not, make one b/4 you remove yours--just draw the pulley arrangement first. Then examine how the belt comes off the pulley, draw the "weave" pattern of the belt through the pulleys and double check one last time. At this point, you can cut the belt off or take one last opportunity to examine the pattern as you remove/slide the belt off by relieving the belt tension using the tension adjustment bolt behind the power steering pump.
Make sure all of the pulleys are turning freely. If there is a bad bearing, it could be causing some friction that ends up weakening the belt and resulting in a broken belt. It could be too tight to. You should have about 12mm deflection in the middle of the longest space.
