You can file the indentions smooth on the inside of the tube to allow additional space for more shells. W. W. Greener was a high grade English gunmaker in the 1800's. Doc Holiday was carrying one of his doubles at the OK Corral. Belgian manufacturers would put similar, sometimes identical, names on utility grade shotguns for import to the US. There's no history or documentation on many of these, but Joe Vorisek has documented 'A Greener' as a product of Henri Pieper, Leige, Belgium.

The FBUX letters on an Iver Johnson shotgun is the serial number.

Iver Johnson, in the later years of production, used the word "Fitchburg" and assigned a number for each letter as follows:

F=1, I=2, T=3, C=4, H=5, B=6, U=7, R=8, G=9, and the "X" was for 0.

Therefore, the serial number is 1670.

With only the name to go on, the stock answer is "about 1900" but it could have been made as late as the 1940's. Value will be $35 - $75 if it is a shooter with fluid steel barrels or about the same amount as a wall decoration if it has a large side hammer and damascus barrels.

Try as I might, I can find no ref. to Beretta ever having made a 10 guage shotgun (at least in the modern era). What is the action type; double, pump, ect. How about a model number? This is confusing, hopefully someone else can help shed some light on this question.

I just called an Antique Gun Dealer in KY today who said it would be anywhere from $125.00 to $300.00.....Said it was probably manufactured in Belgium back anywhere from 1870 to 1900. Back then Belgium was the "low cost" manufacturing hub, similar to China today. Additionally, they wood make them there and ship them to US where Gun Distributors could have their names stamped ino them which devalues it more. But he could would not say until "I brought it in"

E. (Enoch) James & Co. was a gunmaker on Loveday Street, Birmingham, England about 1880's through the turn of the century (1910?). They made damascus barrelled double guns of medium and some high grades. Mostly 12 ga. and 10 ga boxlocks but also some high grade sideplate guns too. Values for good condition modest grades should be $300-400. The guns with finer engraving and game animals can run $500 to $900.
