You don't. Mercedes is about the only place that can get it. It takes a couple hours and special tools.

What happens when a body control module goes out in a 2002 Pontiac aztek?
My BCM went out in my 2001 Pontiac Aztec a few years back and i had all kind of problems with it. My engine was idling really high as soon as i put it in park. My mileage stopped counting and most of the lights on my instrument panel were on if not all of them. The car still ran but if the BCM would have completely failed the car would not run. At least that is what the dealer told me. If your car is not under warranty be prepared to spend about 15 to 18 hundred to replace it.
Mine recently went out and it began with the instrument cluster lights flashing on and off, and the gauges going to "off" and then back on. The car performed fine, except for that. If it does totally fail, you will be stranded with a non-running car. I bought mine online (amazon.com, rockauto, brightauto) for $168+shipping. If you're not afraid to do some work, you can remove all the trim around the BCM and take it to a trusted facility and see if they'll let you remove it and replace it, and then they'll just have to program it. Mine let me do this, and charged me $70 for programming. Total of $243, and about 2 hours worth of work. If you are able to do this, take your time removing the trim, there are some "hidden" screws...it can be fragile, I had to repair one piece of mine.
How much does it typically cost to replace a starter in a 2004 Toyota matrix?
I was just quoted in the S.F. East Bay Area $375.00 parts and labor. Kragen has the rebuilt starter needed for $100.00. The shop manual looks almost too easy. I think the description and pics are without ANY thing in your way and that seems impossible knowing how tight a fit that engine is.
Good Luck!

Can a bad starter kill the battery?
Yes, a "bad" starter can kill the battery, especially if multiple start attempts must be made to get the engine going. Too many sequential starts with a "good" starter can also kill the battery. In either case it does not necessarily mean the battery is ruined since it can usually be recharged.
In any case, an AVR test can be done by any qualified repair center to determine if the starter motor is "bad" (drawing too much power), in which case it will soon cease to function altogether, usually resulting in a towing bill on top of the repair. This test will also determine the condition of the battery and of the alternator which recharges the battery when the engine is running.
Repair centers will charge a fee for this test (1/2 hour labor), but some do-it-yourself parts suppliers will perform the test for free (PartSource in Canada, for instance), and without obligation.
Where is starter relay switch 2000 SATURN?
Starter relays are mounted ON the starter. They are a part of the starter and are always replaced when you install a new starter.
In general, it's recommended that you replace them as a pair anyway, since the starter solenoid (relay) and starter motor generally wear out at the same rate.

The starter motor will not engage on your '87 Crown Victoria 5.0 auto how can you fix this?
If there's nothing wrong with the starter itself, there's a 99% chance it's the starter relay (located on the passenger/front side of the engine bay, mounted on the fender behind the battery). It's a square part with a few wires attached. I don't think many auto parts stores can test this to see if it works, but if I recall, it's a pretty inexpensive part (had to replace it on my 87 Grand Marquis). Good luck.
How do you replace the starter in a 2000 Trooper?
to replace the starter remove the neg battery terminal then remove the left exhaust pipe bolts.and nuts Push the pipe back as far as possible, then remove 2 starter bolts and drop it down...remove the connector and 12mm nut and wiggle pry pull out the starter...good luck
I just finished installing the starter on a 2000 Trooper and it is not nearly as complicated as the above answer would have you believe. The hardest part will be to remove the two bolts that hold the starter in place. You will need a universal adapter on your socket wrench and a long extension. Use either a breaker bar or a 12" long piece of pipe on the end of the ratchet handle to remove the bolt as they are "really on there"! Once the bolts are removed you can fish the starter out of the small space without removing anything else, like the exhaust pipe or shielding! I did this from underneath the SUV and in less then 2 hours.
I agree, it's really not that hard. I elected to remove the cross member from the frame. It's only four bolts. Once it is out of the way, it is a straight shot to the two bolts that hold the starter on. This also makes it easier to get to the nut that holds the positive lead to the starter. The only other thing I did is to remove a little sheet metal cover just in front of the clutch slave cylinder. I then just wiggled the starter out. I was actually surprised how easy it was after read several posts on the web.
thx dudes i was gonna beat my wifes japaniese junk to peices thx from Tennessee
Will a car start with a broken starter?
Depending on how broken it is you can sometimes hit the starter with a wrench or something hard and it may start.
Pretty much by definition, if the starter is broken the car won't start by using the starter, although the above can sometimes work as a quick fix. However, the car will start without using a starter, especially if it is a manual transmission,
Turn the key on, and push the car in neutral (even not very fast). Put it in gear and release the clutch while it is moving, which turns the motor and starts the car. The same can be done with most automatics, but you must push them much faster.
How do you replace lost ignition key for 1992 legacy?
I replaced a key on an older car (a Chevy) by taking the VIN number and Title (to prove ownership) into a dealer who was able to cut a new key. Call your local Subaru dealer and find out if they can do the same.
