The stat is located at the lower end of the top radiator hose within the water outlet.Remove the 2-3 bolts that hold the water outlet in place, carefully tap it to free it and remove it.Remove stat. You do not have to drain coolant down any lower that the stat level.Dry off the mating surfaces, clean surfaces , install gasket with sealer( or o-ring with vaseline ) install stat the same way you took out the old one. Snug bolts evenly to avoid cracking the housing. Fill with coolant and leave rad cap off for 15 minutes to bleed air out and top off the coolant. I hope this helps you. Mark
What do you do if you notice an oil leak in the engine of a Toyota Camry?
First, find out where the oil is leaking from. If it's leaking from the drain plug you might get by with just getting a new drain plug gasket and changing the oil. It could also be leaking from the oil filter in which case just change the oil filter. If it's leaking from the rocker cover gasket or the pan gasket you can drop the pan or remove the rocker cover and replace the gasket but if you haven't done it before it might be a little overwhelming. It might be leaking from the "rear main seal", that's the seal on the crankshaft of the engine where it connects to the transmission. If that's the case you have some expenses ahead of you. Just plan on adding oil when it gets low and start looking for another car if you don't want to spend that much money.

How can you replace spark plugs on a 2001 Jaguar XK8?
Had the same problem with 1990 Sovereign 4 L. If you still have the Jag tool kit you will find a long Hexagonal sparkplug remover , with an accessory insert bar.
The jag remover has a plastic insert which grips the top of the plugs, gently but strongly enough to lift the plugs out, after undoing them (anti-clock ). If you haven't this tool, you could find out the recommended plug sizes from Auto Spares Shop, and measure the diameter of the plugs hexagonal . On the XJ6 this was 17mm.
Considerable force was required to initially loosen each plug. If you have no plastic insert in the sparkplug hex spanner, perhaps just go fishing , after undoing , with each cylinder's sparkplug lead.

Where can you get an EGR Modulator Filter?
I don't know if any dealerships sell the filter alone. More likley, you'll have to buy the entire EGR modulator. You might be able to get a modulator filter in decent shape at a junk yard. Your best course of action, if your current filter is redeemable, is to clean it using compressed air. If your filter is beyond redemption, then you might try constructing a filter using materials similar to the ones used in your original filter.
Clicking sound that goes away after it warms up?
Probably valve tappets/lifters/pushrods that have gummed up from dirty or overheated oil. Check the oil level and the color of the oil - when new it is gold colored, and when old it is black and sludgy.
If the engine is old and has not had oil changes at frequent intervals, there are additives available to correct the problem to some extent, ie, to get rid of the gummy sludge. Ask for advice at a reputable automotive store such as Canadian Tire, Napa or PartSource. Once the problem is corrected, be sure to change the engine oil at appropriate intervals.

Remove the spark plug wires from the spark plugs, then remove the large nuts (30mm) around them that hold the valve cover down. If the valve cover is stuck, knock it loose, gently, with a rubber mallet or wood block.
Remove the old gasket and spark plug tube seals from the valve cover. Clean all mating surfaces, including the top edge of the cylinder head, and place the new gaskets/seals where the old ones were.

Where are the timing marks on the cam and the crank located on a Toyota Camry 4cl 2.0?
The cam mark is behind the pulley on the oil seal plate towards the top of the seal it looks like a small line indentation. Rotate pulley clockwise until you can see it well then take yellow model paint and brush a little into the dent. Now find the hole that's in one of the spokes on the pulley. turning the pulley clockwise line that hole up with the timing mark you should be able to look through the hole and see your yellow timing mark. Heres the tricky part you can't just look through and see it because theres a fender in your way if you don't have the engine out. Use a telescoping mirror and a flashlight put the mirror down in there facing the hole with angle so that you can see it, shine the flashlight into the mirror it will reflect and show you the inside of the hole. Turn pulley until you see yellow mark lined up with hole in the pulley spoke.
The crank is a little more tricky there is a mark on the back edge of the pulley. Turning clockwise line it up with the 0 mark on the belt housing cover, but I prefer to pull the spark plug in the #1 cylinder the closest cylinder to the timing belt and put a 2 foot wooden dowel down into it. Then turn the crank with a strap wrench until the piston reaches tdc "top dead center" the point when your wooden dowel reaches it's highest point before dropping back down. Remember turn clockwise.I just went through misery with a 1991 3SFE trying to time the cam. There are 4 deep cuts in the camshaft bearing cap, one round mark in the cap that lines up perfectly with the timing hole, and then there is the small cut(I think triangular),in the edge of the cap that is the correct timing mark. Do not use the circular mark that is at about 9 o'clock. The correct mark appears at about 11:00 o'clock but in reality it is at 12:00 on the engine because the engine mounts at a slight angle in the Camry. This engine is extremely sensitive to this timing setting. Miss by one tooth on then belt and it may not start. Be sure to turn the crank a couple of times clockwise and check the cam again after the initial belt install to be sure you haven't taken up some slack from the wrong side upon release of the tensioner.
