Isuzu Trooper

Parent Category: Isuzu
The Isuzu Trooper was a midsize SUV manufactured from 1981 to 2005. The Trooper had three generations: 1981-1991, 1992-1997 and 1998-2005. The first generation was basic and underpowered on- and off-road vehicle, while the succeeding generations were more refined and were available in two or four-wheel drive.
I have owned two Isuzu trooper's. and 88 and a 98. Both having higher mileage I have always used 10W-30. If your truck is burning oil it may help to get a higher viscosity of oil, but 10W-30 will get the job done.
Depends on wat year model it is! if it is wat i think it is its easy just 4 wires needs to be bridged!
The timimg belt in this vehicle is self adjusting so if it's too loose you need a new timing belt. Most belts should be replaced every 80K miles as part of routine maintenance. It is advisable to replace the tension pulleys with your new belt. Also, check the tension piston. It is located above and...
Assuming it's the 3.2L engine, its mounted on the front passenger side of the motor below the power steering pump.
Sometimes the anti-theft has a time limit, so let the car sit for 30 minutes and it should reset. If that does not work, disconnect the battery for that long and it will reset.Ê
You might want to ask the mechanics at the garage to double check this; but generally a loom refers to the place where the wiring harness goes through the firewall. If your wiring harness is messed up it will cause all kinds of strange electrical things to happen. Replacing electrical components...
== on mine and had to take it to the shop to figure out where that button was. == the power an winter mode switch gets corrosion an dirty.mostly from spilled drinks coffee cigerette ashes.causes a electrical short within the switch.just replace it with a new one
Very difficult. The rods connect the pistons to the crankshaft. To replace them correctly you have to remove the entire motor and tear it down. This is a task best accomplished by a automotive machine shop.
The relay may be bad. Replace it and if that doesn' fix it, the wire comming from the horn button is grounded somewhere.
I don't own a diesel trooper but I know that there is only a few things that could cause a shake. one is a clogged or dirty injector(s). a broken motor mount. a dirty filter. it doesn't have enough fuel pressure or the injection timing has jumped. I like the last answer the best! GOOD LUCK!
I had this problem, the stick-shift was not fully in the 'park' position try and jiggle the stick.
== Answer == It's underneathe the intake manifold, so yes it has to come off first. Not very fun.
don't the troopers have a sealed transmission. Like the man said if it ain't broke don't fix it, if you are over on any sort of maintence in the transmission just let sleeping dogs lie, flushing it at this point may just make it worse, of course this suggestion is negated if you are already having...
What you're talking about is an impact head, my 86 4 cylinder has one and I bent 3 valves. Didnt cost that much for parts and the head service charge was average for this area (70001) Don't know if the 93 is like that but I assume it is.

how do i line up timing gears on 2.8 isuzu trooper
My guess, after a quick look, is to remove the hose clamp where the fill hose empties into the tank and siphon from there. I ended up here because I was looking for a way to bypass the anti-siphon block. Kevin
Le 4jg1 n'a pas de courroie, mais des synchrones des sortes d'engrenage qui s'emboîte, qui est tout a fait pratique, mais il faut juste faire attention a la lubrification.
1992 - 2002 Isuzu Troopers have the GM 4L30E transmission. There is no dipstick. There is no fill tube. The only way to add fluid or check the fluid level of the transmission is through the fill plug in the transmission pan. The transmission fill plug is situated above the fluid level of the "sump"...
== Mode Switch == Try cleaning your Mode Switch on the Trasmission, it's not hard...no springs or anything to fall out. Clean and regrease that should help with the hard shift. When you open it up you'll understand why. I put some sealer around the housing before I put it back in. Good...
== Answer == Remove fan shroud, fan, and belts. Get a 15/16 socket and remove the nut that holds the crankshaft pulley on and remove the pulley. You really need to get a Haynes or Chilton manual cus this part has to be done right or you are letting yourself in for all kinds of trouble. Remove...
== Answer == it all depends did you price the starter ? how much per hr do they charge? how hard is it to get to? do you have to take off a skid plate? I had a starter replaced on my 1992 Blazer it was 300.00 == Answer == Well, the shop quotes me 310 for the part; Pep boys...
The starter is located on the drivers side of the engine compartment, just inside the rear of the inner fender well. If you are looking to replace the starter it is not a fun job. I read that you have to drop the lead pipe. I took off the heat shield on the wiring harness by the lead pipe and the...
== Answer == your front end needs to be lubricated badly. Jiffy lube will do it if your truck is fitted with grease fittings if it doesn't have fittings then you have to replace parts. Word to the wise the front end cost about 900.00 for the parts alone so take it to an experienced...

Check the brake fluid. If it is ok, take it to the dealer and have the abs codes read. Additionally, there could be a couple reasons more. For my '95 Trooper, the ABS hydraulic brake cylinder was gradually going out. The ABS brake light would blink on and off going over bumps, then finally the ABS...
I have been using REGULAR in my 2000 3.5 Trooper and never had a problem.
== Answer == Chances are the hood sensor on the right inner fender is out of adjustment. Tap the hood and see if it goes off If it does adjust the sensor up
Answer . this all applies to my 95 Trooper but according to your references, it applies to a 93 also.. I know what WON'T WORK. Pulling the fuse in the left bulkhead will not do it. Glueing the console alarm switch to off will not work. Removing all the wires to this switch will not work. I could...
== Answer == Remove each of the coils then remove and replace the plugs
Under the hood on the right by the brake cylinder and there is also a fuse link right off the battery connector it can be unplugged and tested, check this if no power. There are also small glass fuses under dash by heater blower and behind fuse box under hood, look for little white connectors...
Answer Bleed the slave, not the master. Bench bleed the master, that's what those hoses are for with the instructions in the box your part came in. The same box need to return the core.
== Answer == Ours was simple... as in 95% of ALL car problems. Usually just hard to determine what 'exactly' is wrong in the first place. New plugs made ours run 1000% better. Wires didn't help, but if you're replacing plugs, especially 'old' plugs, do the wires too. Check and...
On the 4-cylinder (2.6 liter 4ZE1 engine), it's mounted vertically, under and centered on, the intake manifold, electrical connector pointing down. VERY hard to access, much more so to remove: it's screwed UP into the manifold; it's all but necessary to remove the manifold to get to it. And watch...
it should tell u on the driver side sun visor! ..I own a 1999 Isuzu trooper...in order to put it into 4wd! stop vehicle, shift transmission lever to neutral and then shift your transfer lever to 4L and then shift your transmission lever to D. (for normal 2wd your lever should be on HIGH) and to go...
There is a button on the dashboard saying 4WD just push that and your away
The brake pedal has to be fully depressed for the stick to engage.
If like my 2000, it is on the left valve cover. it is too cold to go out and double check.
NOT flash, i drive mind a bit harder than most would and average between 400 to 450 km's out of a tank, that's reving at about 3400 to 3600rpm. If you have good family connections with someone owning a oil well then don't worry and thrash it.
== Answer == salvage yard or reman from aftermarket auto parts dealer

Poor GM engineering is the real reason that the light comes on. But seriously you need to have a dealer or service tech hook up the truck and get the code to determine why the light is coming on. Remember that this is a sealed transmission, GM decided to engineer it to never be serviced. So...
The engine oil capacity of the 1997 Big Horn by Isuzu is 6.3 quarts. This is for the 3.1 Liter turbo diesel engine.
underneath the gas pump in a 1993 trooper.
Would have been built for R12, can be converted to R134a.
The auto locking hubs on the 1991 Trooper are prone to failure so yes its a good idea to replace with manual locking hubs if you plan to keep the vehicle for any length of time.
A legimitate conversion from R12 to 134 is expensive, I went and got another trooper with 134 already and I feel much better for it
== Answer == The fuel filter is located near the right rear wheel bolted to the chasis.
Raise the vehicle with weight approved jacks and support with jackstands, or use an automotive lift. Remove wheels. FRONT: Remove (6) Allen head bolts holding black outter cup on hub. Remove c-ring off the end of front axle. Remove (2) caliper mounting bolts, use small pry bar to remove caliper....

There isn't really a diagram that is all that good I've found. I just did mine.Remove the wheel.Remove the bolt (I think it's a 10mm) on the caliper and remove. Pull out old pads and replace with new pads. You will need to compress the rear piston to fit the new pads around the rotor. DO NOT USE A C...
A person can get a diagram for the timing bet in a Isuzu Trooper by looking on the owners manual. They can also ask for a print out of the diagram at an auto part store.
I had a similar problem on my 91 Trooper where the engine just died on the highway and it wouldn't restart but it would pop and backfire sometimes. The rotor in the distributor is held by a screw and it fell out so the distributor shaft was spinning but not allowing it to fire on any cylinders except...
I would start by checking the thermostat, it may not be opening.
because it needs to be replaced. short circuted
you may have to take the alternator belt off first. loosen the bolt that is in the slotted part of the alternator bracket and loosen the pivot bolt and nut that goes through the cast aluminum body of the alternator bolt heads are 9/16 or 5/8 inch. push on the alterator to loosen that belt enough to...
When you've got an Isuzu Trooper Alternator going bad, you've got all kinds of problems. If your battery isn't charging completely and quickly, you can get stranded, and if your interior electronics aren't getting the power they need, they're not functioning the way they should. You need to replace...
sell it and buy a Jeep ;)
== Answer == Look at the lower end of the engine - try to follow the + battery cable Driver's side, crawl under behind front wheel and between exhaust pipe and engine block.
This censor is located behind the grill. On the drivers side of this vehicle behind the grill and in front of the radiator.

Hi there. You have to take out the dashboard - there are a few screws to remove nut it comes out fairly easily. On the back of the dash board is a printed circuit board. There is a little plug in the board which will be inserted into the middle and one (of 3) sockets that are in line. Simply...

I could be wrong but here goes. the 2.8 timing marks need to be faceing each other .the mark on the cam gear should be faceing down to the crank, and the mark on the crank gear should be up lineing up w the cam mark. make sure #1 cyl is at tdc compression . also check the cam as to make sure its not...
Answer . \nI would first check the wire that comes from the oil sending unit. I believe you have a V6 engine so it would be located near the oil filter. It should be removed and cleaned and make sure it feels tight as you plug it back in. Try this. If no luck replace the oil pressure sender it...
It's a sealed unit, so no fill tube. I know there's two screws you can remove, at least to top it off...maybe to fill it too (I don't know if one is a drain or not - it's been a long time since I've looked). IIRC, there's a radiator in the front, so splice into the ATF hoses and flush it as...
The flasher is located up under the dash on the drivers side between the steering colum and the kick panel. Be aware there are 2 flashers in this model. they are both the same so the easy way to tell the difference is to turn on the 4way flashers. the one that does not click on and off is the signal...
On a V-6 shaped block, bank 1 is passenger side cylinders 1-3-5. Bank 2 is the driver's cylinders 2-4-6. Cylinder 1 is passenger side closest to the radiator. Same with cylinder 2 only on the drivers side. This makes cylinders 5 and 6 furthest back on the firewall. From the driver's seat you...
I would begin by unfortunately asking another question first. What is your experince level with pad and shoe replacement? Second I would advise the trip to the local parts store for one of Chiltons repair guides for your model and next listen to any advise the counter person has. Typically those...
I own a 1994 Isuzu Trooper, the blower moter is located inside the truck under the glove box.

== Answer == If it's a heavy gauge (around 8 AWG IIRC), that's the charge wire to the alternator BATT post. The larger cable (about 4 AWG) goes to the starter.
depend on what type of transmission you have auto/stick?
