Why would antifreeze leak from intake?

I had that happen once. That's a bad thing. That's either cracked head, blown head gasket, or cracked block.

Not necessarily. The intake on some vehicles, especially late models, the coolant circulates thru the intake manifold. You could have a leaking hose or leaking manifold gasket. You would have other problems like cooant in the oil or oil in the coolant if you had a cracked head/block or a bad head gasket.

What could cause just the graphic-bar display on the tachometer indicating boost pressure in the intake manifold to quit working on a 1985 nonturbo 300ZX sfter replacing alternator due to overcharging?

It is most likely a hose is disconnected. I am not sure about the non turbos, but if you have the digital dash that has the three little push buttons on the dash for distance to empty, and and the mileage reset, etc, then all you have to do to check the thing is hold in the top two buttons at the same time and then turn on the key holding them in for a few seconds then let go of the buttons and the dash will go through a self check mode and each part of the dash will light up one section at a time. Chances are though it is probably just a hose that's not connected.

And this of course often causes problems by debris (in most cases small leaves) accumulating inside the cooler housing, getting rotten, and giving out a terrible bad smell.

What you have to do:

1)Remove the 2 holders and the damper screw holding the glove compartment door so that it hangs down open.

2)locate the car air fan below

3)Next to the fan there is a black compartment. It's a two piece enclosure.

4)Remove the 2 screws and the clip from the front side. There are another 2 screws visible below and another 2 that need a 10mm socket.

5)IMPORTANT:there are more than those 7 things holding the 2 pieces together. It is simply impossible to access the rest

5)Push in a screwdriver in the middle of where the clip was, so that you separate the 2 parts of the compartment. They will NOT separate completely just upto a maximum of 3 cm frontal opening.

6)Use a torch and look inside. If your car smells badly you will see too many surprises in there.

6)Take a piece of water hose (about 40cm) tape it on your vaccuum cleaner extension and clean the compartment.

7)Spray some antiseptic inside, and some air freshener.

After you are done inspect the air inlet of your car (just below the wipers) because that's from where the debris entered on the first place.Repair as necessary....or never park under trees again :-)

You don't. Unless it is a reuseable cotton filter. Otherwise, buy a new paper element filter and replace. On the 2.0TFSI the air filter is in the plastic engine cover. You have to disconnect the cover from the hoses and remove an electrical connector. Pry off on left side first. Turn it over and unscrew four screws. The air filter is under the panel the screws held on.
