Will car not start because alarm wont deactivate?
If you have a new car and had purchased a safety tech package of some sort that is possibly the reason, see some newer cars have kill switches that are tripped by things that you don't even know you did, a kill switch is activated when the cars main computer system thinks it's being broken into, and for that reason it will block the starter and the engine will not start even with the key. To remove the kill switch you should call your dealer and ski them for the procedure because every car has it's own procedure. Hope this helps
How can you un-install an after market anti-theft alarm system?
ALARM SYSTEMS USUALLY HAVE A MODULE OR "BRAIN". IT IS MOST LIKELY A SQUARE BLACK PLASTIC BOX ABOUT 5 OR 6 INCHES LONG WITH THE CIRCUIT BOARDS INSIDE. THERE ARE WIRING HARNESSES THAT PLUG INTO THIS MODULE. IF YOU UNPLUG ALL OF THE WIRING HARNESSES AND REMOVE THE MODULE IT WILL NO LONGER OPERATE...OBVIOUSLY! THERE CAN BE ANYWHERE FROM 1 TO 8 HARNESSES DEPENDING UPON THE FEATURES THAT THE SYSTEM HAS. IF IT WAS INSTALLED CORRECTLY IT SHOULD NOT AFFECT ANYTHING ELSE ELECTRICAL IN THE VEHICLE. HARNESSES ARE MADE SO THAT THEY HAVE TO MATCH UP WITH A MALE OR FEMALE COUNTERPART TO COMPLETE A CONNECTION. WHENVER UNPLUGGED THEY SIMPLY DO NOT MAKE THAT CONNECTION. IF YOU TRY TO REMOVE THE HARNESSES COMPLETELY BE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT SEPARATE ANY ORIGINAL CAR WIRES THAT THE HARNESS WAS SPLICED INTO OR DO NOT LEAVE THE ORIGINAL WIRES BARE SO THAT THEY CAN CONTACT METAL OR ONE ANOTHER, OPTHERWISE YOU CAN EASILY HAVE PROBLEMS WITH LIGHTS, STARTERS, HORNS, ETC. DANO
on most newer alarms it's ok to unplug the brain because the starter disable relays are wired to normally closed so the starter will still work. the exception is certain high end clifford, python, viper alarms which might have it built into the brain.
How do you disconnect the alarm system on a 1996 Nissan 200sx?
Well, first of all what I would is unplug the remote starter system completely from the brain. Once you've done that locate your fuse boxes. There should be one inside the car and one in the engine bay but on jags who knows. Once you've found the fuse boxes, turn your key to the "on" position and turn on all of your lights. Then get a multimeter and go through and check each and every fuse to see if they hit 12 volts. Make sure you check both sides of the fuse. Also, did you put a bypass in with the remote start? Your definently going to need one. If you have no experience with remote starts and you put it in yourself you very well could had fried something.
How do you program a new remote to work on your 98 dodge caravan?
(95, 97, 98 & 99 Chry. T&C / Caravan, Grand caravan Follow the steps below (RKE Module Pin out diagram needed, info can be found on this forum) PREPPING:
1. Remove the upper dash panel to reveal the RKE Module
2. Unplug the RKE module (Some models have 2 plugs (ie. early Intrepids, eagles ect.)
3. Locate the GROUND & PROGRAM ENABLE WIRES. (Check forum for wire colors/location) these varies by year & model) ****Steps 3a, 3b & 3c IS OPTIONAL (For ease of FUTURE Programming)****
3a. Run a Double Conductor Wire (16 or 18 awg) from the RKE Module (in dash) to any location BELOW the dash panel or glove compartment for easy access.
3b. Splice one wire to the PROGRAM ENABLE wire and splice the other wire to the GROUND wire (THIS Ground Wire is PREFERED) on the RKE Module connector. (MARK which one is the PGM ENABLE WIRE at BOTH ENDS with tape or a marker)
3c. Below the dash connect a S.P.S.T. (Single Pole Single Throw) Toggle switch to the 2 wires. (Note which position is ON/CLOSED) Programming an Initial RKE Remote
4.With Keyless Entry Remote(s) in hand Close ALL Doors insuring alarm is DISABLED (If appl.).
5. Turn the Iignition Key to the ON position (DO NOT START)
6. Ground the RKE Modules Program Enable Wire.
For those whom install the switch toggle it to the CLOSED or ON Position.
7. Press and hold the unlock button on ANY REMOTE and HOLD IT. (You will hear a chime)
8. Release the button and press it again (single press) on the 1st remote. (You MAY hear a chime again)
9. Press ANY Button on the next remote. This is #2 (You will hear a chime)
10. Press ANY button on additional remotes (IF NEEDED) (you will hear a chime)
11. When finished Turn the Ignition Key OFF
12. Remove the GROUND from the RKE Module's PROGRAM ENABLE Wire or turn the toggle switch off.
13. Test each remote to see if it works.
NOTE: If there is a problem with programming you may need to:
a. Remove the GROUND from the RKE Modules PGM Enable wire BEFORE turning off the Ignition Key.
b. Ground the PGM Enable wire BEFORE turning ON the Ignition Key
c. After hearing the 1st chime imediatle press any key on the remote and once that chime is heard imeduiatly press any key on the next remote. ect.
d. Do NOT leave this terminal grounded! or the toggle switch ON/CLOSED WHATS HAPPENING:
Physically Grounding the RKE Modules PROGRAM ENABLE Terminal does the SAME thing as the BCM (Body Control Module) does to the RKE Module when the scan tool/dealer tool "Enables RKE Remote Programming" You are simply grounding the PGM Enable terminal instead of the BCM doing it via the scan tool. Now ENJOY Locking & Unlocking you vehicle via the Remote!
How to disengage anti theft on a Buick 1997 Park Avenue?
You require a bypass module to do this since the PA is equipped with PKIII. You need to install an antenna around where the key is inserted, and then install a module. You'll need to tap into the wires that come out of the PKIII module. Instructions should be pretty straightforward.
On prior models with PKII you can use resistors to bypass the anit theft, but that isn't the case with PKIII.

This problem is almost always caused by a faulty Passlock sensor. Replace the ignition lock to fix the problem. It is easy to replace. It takes about 15 minutes, plus time to get the part and relearn the security code.
First start the engine and press the key straight inward. If the car stalls, you will need a new ignition switch as well as a cylinder.
First, obtain a new lock cylinder FROM A GM DEALERSHIP. Have them 'code' the cylinder for you so that your key will work with it. They will need your VIN. This number is visible near the bottom left corner of the windshield.
Stop the engine and turn the ignition to ON, but do not start the engine. Set the parking brake and shift into low gear. Remove the radio and instrument cluster, and pry out the small bezel around the lock cylinder. Unbolt the ignition switch from the car. Disconnect all wiring connectors from the ignition switch.
Turn the ignition to ON. There is a button on the side of
the ignition switch. Despress this button and use the key to pull the lock out. I recommend replacing the switch also, as it is likely damaged by the worn lock cylinder.
Install the new cylinder and reassemble everything.
Shift into Park and turn the key to off. Then put a charger on the battery.
Turn the key to Crank momentarily, then let it return to On/Run. Wait about 12 minutes. Turn the key to Off. Wait 15 seconds. Start the car. Remove the battery charger.
Use of a battery charger is critical to prevent accidentally learning an incorrect password into the BCM.

Can a factory alarm system cause an Chevy silverado not to start?
yes, also no fuel pump and maybe a blown fuse.
the clicking is a relay working this is normally unless is doing it none stop. if that the case witch ever cuciut the relay is on has a high resistance and needs to be looked at. it sounds like you have a bad starter motor, to test it take a jump pack or jumper cables and a battery and put the positive(+) lead to the power termanel on the starter and the negative(-) to the casing of the starter. then with a screw driver jump across the power twermanel and the small( or s) termanel. If the starter is working the drive gear should move out and spin. hope this helps. NKB

Where can you find replacement Lexus ES300 key battery?
Open the key case with a jeweler's Philips screwdriver. Remove the back cover. Use the Philips driver to remove the two screws that you now see. Remove the battery cover. My key uses a button battery: CR 1616. Note tyhe battery you need and buy a new one (RS store is a good place). Use a jeweler's flat blade to lift the battery up and slide out. Replace with a new battery and reassemble.

Toyota Previa alarm keeps going off without anyone doing anything any ideas on how to fix it?
I have discovered the same problem for my 93 previa lx. One solution to solve that is when you're driving lock your doors, then when leaving manually open and lock it (w. out using the button). If you turned off your motor and locked your doors w. the switch. The car alarm will go off randomly.
I'm not sure this would work. but you can try to ask the dealer to remove the alarm. But using my method above, will keep the van from going off =].
How do you reset a 1993 Toyota Forerunner alarm so the car will start?
Try putting it into valet mode if not interested in using the system.
Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward all the way just before cranking. Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the valet/overide button, found under the dash area, (push button, spring loaded) until the installed LED (the blinking light) in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once.
(Your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type. in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction, then turn the key off.)
This should reset the alarm, and reset the grounded relay on the starter wire, allowing you to start the engine.
At this point, the only thing working would be the keyless entry from the alarm, if it came equipped that way.
Just Repeat these steps to place it back to usable armed mode. You may get 2 chirps, confirming it, and the lights may flash twice as well.
That should do it. If you want to remove it at this point, take it to your neighborhood installer for this, or buy the wiring chart for the vehicle, and reverse engineer it wire by wire, until safely removed.
If it does not work out this way, you will have to replace the system with one you know how to operate and what to expect. Don't want to get stuck in another bad situation.
