Why would a Montero stall when you accelerate?
I'd look at the fuel filter first - because it's the easiest and cheapest to remedy. If it's plugged up, a sudden change in demand for fuel won't be met. Dirty injectors could be part of the problem, as well. Make sure the air filter is okay. Also, Mitsubishi recommends the timing belt be changed at 100K miles. If the belt is old, it may have slipped a little and altered the timing. If the timing is off a little it can cause hard starting or poor acceleration and sometimes, detonation. Good luck.
I had the same problem with a 93 Jag. I replaced the ignition module, coil, crank sensor, and even the ECU computer and I still did not have any spark. I was stumped and studying the wiring diagram I replaced the ECM Main Relay that was the problem, it fired right up.
The ECM Main Relay on the 93 is located in the passenger side of the engine compartment on the firewall and it is the farthest outboard relay. Simple fix.
I sure hope this helps someone out there
Display all the warning light symbols on a peugot 307?
The Peugeot 307 has several warning light symbols with different meanings. The oil can symbol means an oil change is needed while the exclamation point means the tire pressure is low.
What makes a 1996 Chevy Tahoe hard to start after it sets a few hours?
A faulty fuel pump will make a 1996 Chevy Tahoe hard to start after it sets for a few hours. The pump can allow fuel to leak back into the gas tank and starve the engine for fuel.
I'm hoping that you are not in traffic when you stall the car !! Some ignition switches for instance on VW's, the key has to be turned to the full off position and then on again in order to start. I would find a large parking lot to practice in - get to the point of never stalling before venturing out into the traffic flow.
Check the fuse box, often there are idling regulator circuits that have simply blown a fuse, these are also the easiet to overlook.
What kind of car is it if its a newer model then the idle position sensor if it's a older car with a carburetor the u need to Clean it and set the idle
The Passlock security system could be the problem. Should be recalled. Go here http://newrockies.com/?ap_id=craigpeate for a module to bypass the system completely. The resistor workaround at the key isn't always the only problem. I tried it on my 99 Suburban and it didn't do any better with the resister bypass. You need to eliminate the entire security system. Buy the pro module for $179 plus shipping and save yourself the hassle of dealing with it ever again. Or you could go to the dealer and have them replace the entire system for over $1000. They will have to replace the key/tumbler/hall effect switch/wiring and EVO-Passlock module to get it right.
Take your car to any Auto Zone or other like store. Most will check your battery and alternator for free. One of these is you problem, most likely.
What is importance of a mechanic?
They can fix automotive problems that are beyond your capacity or ability to repair.
cam position sensor has failed
Why would a car stall after running for a mile in cold weather?
Icing inside the intake? Had that happen on my old I6 Ford. You could scrape ice off the outside of the intake...I'd heat it with a torch and would instantly be fine. Just a thought.
it may be the fuel pump
as far as stalling, could it be an idle sensor gone wrong? As far as kickdown, perhaps a stuck accellerator cable, seeing as the linkage is mechanical, a sticky throttle lever? One could get the auto tranny flushed and refilled with fresh fluid....worth a try...
Where is the Idle Speed Control Valve on a 1997 VW Golf 1400cc?
The idle air control valve will be located by the throttle body.
You need new wires, or distributor cap. Moisture can get into a cracked cap or cause wet wires where spark jumps from wire to wire, or wire to ground.
Would taking the distributor cap off cause a car to not start after putting it back on?
If you didn't put it back on right or maybe left something off like the rotor, sure.
Several things could be causing the 1994 Cherokee to have this problem. There could be a drop in fuel pressure. There could also be a problem with the ignition circuit like a coil pack breaking down as it gets hot. Check these areas to start with.
Why would a 95 Camry stall at stops but once restarted run fine?
Check the EGR valve. It sounds like your EGR valve is staying open. An EGR valve that is open at idle will cause a car to stall. An EGR should be closed at idle and open when you are driving around.
Stalling on a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee no engine light comes on and will turn on again shortly?
Bad fuel pump? check the fuel filter first you would be surprised how many problems a clogged filter can cause
replace the alternator
My car does the same thing, except for the low oil... from time to time when I come to a stop I'll push in the clutch and it will randomly stall... I think its b/c my idle is not set high enough, but there could be a different reason...
Can an electrical short to your fuel pump cause car to shut down while driving?
Most definitely. If he pump cuts out so does the fuel. Try a TEMPORARY fused line direct to the pump and track down the original circuit by cutting it in half step by step. Start at the tank and go half the circuit at a time towards the pump. I suggest a Chilton manual with a wiring diagram as there are often several companion circuits that may not be evident to you.
