Car Starting Problems

A diagram of the motor, in your 2002 Kia Sedona, can be obtained from most Kia dealerships. The diagram can be found at most auto-parts stores.

By spending a lot of money to buy the tools neccasary to do the removal procedure.

I don't see why it would be in the charging system(usually refered as electrical system). I would be suspicious of the ignition system, such as a ignition coil or ignition module. These are weakened when basic care sucha as plugs or wires are not changed. Post your results when you find out.

Quite possibly the fuel pump itself, I had a similar issue.

had same problem. replaced the coolant sensor. had to hook it up to a computer to find this out. it is a cheap brass part on top 10 min job

I had the same thing happen. Turns out it was a plugged fuel filter. Hope that helps.

I had something like this, and it turned out the main wire to the distributer cap had come loose at the other end.

I had the same problem and it would only occur occassionally, it would occur when I stopped at a light or stop sign after the van had been running continuously for a couple of hours. The O2 sensor was what was causing my van to suddenly die and then start back up a few moments later.

Look at the lower end of the engine - try to follow the + battery cable

I have a 2002, the same thing happens. I found out that , if you always lock doors with remote, it will stop. Once I did that, it has not done it since. It happened almost once a week, but not in a year.

When it does that turn the key on but not the engine, wait for the security light to stop flashing . once it is solid than turn off key and start car. it worked for me hope it works for you.

Just because you hear the pump come on doesn't mean it's pumping. Or that the fuel line is hooked up just the way it needs to be. You'll need to pull the pump again and check it to be sure it works. Don't rule out an inline electric fuel pump somewhere between the tank and engine. It got my Chev. truck running again with very little hassle.

Fuel line de-icers are primarily alcohol and will not typically keep the vehicle from running although it may not run quite as nicely as it does on gasoline, especially if the engine is not set up to run straight alcohol.

Nothing happens when you turn the key: That about says it all, you turn the key and nothing happens, no crank, no clicking, no nothing. It's totally dead. Possible causes: 1. You left the lights on again: ump start the car and remember to turn your lights off at night. 2. Battery is dead: Test battery and charging system. Replace battery. 3. Dirty or loose battery cables: Clean and tighten cables as required. 4. Problem in the charging system: Test and repair charging system as required. 5. Bad Neutral Safety Switch: Replace Neutral Safety Switch.

I ran out of gas with my 95 camaro and filled it up and started fine. Sounds like it may be a bad fuelpump/relay or fuse. Check the fuse and the relay. Any luck on figuring this out? I'm about to spend a grand!

Possibly, You have flooded your engine and you have to wait or you have a flat Glow Lighter. Or you'r actual Car batteries are dead!

Clearly there is something wrong with the car besides a bad alternator fuse. Without more information I cannot hazard a guess. But you may want to check the charging system overall to see that it is working correctly. That will include the battery and alternator.

Call the Dealer, the keys are programmable only buy the Ford dealer.

there are 2 main reasons 1 the engine is not getting enought petrol 2 spark engine is not getting spark this is probley the cause the main thing that goes wrog with the spark is the ht coil replace this and the spark plug and your engine should start

First of all is the spark bright blue...if so you have strong good spark if not you need new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. Next thing is the ram carborated? If so take off the air cleaner and have someone press the gas pedal. if you hear/see/smell fuel the you're getting fuel to the intake if not check for a clogged fuel filter or bad fuel pump. Another cheap test is buy a can of carborator cleaner and spray a small amount into the intake. Truck starts then you have a fuel delivery problem. There is a possibility that the timing chain is worn and has jumped teeth on the gears. If this is the case, the valves will be out of time with the crank position and it won't start. In my '86 Ram, the gears were nylon which became brittle so teeth broke and allowed the chain to jump. I replaced the gears/chain (in 1996 at 180,000 miles) and it has gone another 100,000 miles.

Remove the hose or housing at the throttle body. Depress the butterfly valve to open it. Spray s short blast of carburetor or throttlebody cleaner then try starting the car. If it fires you are not getting fuel and 99% chance you need to replace the fuel pump. You may also be able to hear the fuel pump turn on when you turn the key one position to the on - not two positions to the start position. if you don't hear any noise it may also mean a bad fuel pump.

Does the engine turn over faster than normal? If it does, you threw your timing belt, not a big problem really since they designed the over head cam engines to fall into safe mode which collapses all of the valves to avoid damage.

Socket wrench and 14mm sockets. Should take off all the bolts it worked for my 1990.

If it is the original fuel pump then it is probably telling you it is about to quit. have you changed the fuel filter lately?
