step1. open the hood and remove the hex nut holding the outer light portion in place.
step2. remove the hex nuts above the light assembly
step3. remove the hex nut to the side of the lights to allow them to lean forward
step4. allow light assembly to move forward and twist the light to remove from the assembly
step5. replace bulb
step 6. replace light assembly and all hex nuts

How do you adjust timing on an 88 astro?
First you need to have a timing light, once you have attained one (if you didn't already have one) you have to hook up the alligator clips on the respective battery terminals and the inductive lead on the #1 cylinder spark plug wire. Next you need to loosen (not remove) the distributor hold down clamp bolt. With engine running, you need to watch the timing marks on the vibration dampener attached to the crankshaft pulley and adjust (turn) the distributor clockwise or counter clockwise until the appropriate mark (see the emissions sticker by hood latch for desired timing setting) lines up with the pointer on front of motor, being VERY careful not to let and wires for timing light or any part of you get too close to cooling fan! When the lines match, tighten clamp and you should be fine. It may take two people (one to watch the marks and one to turn the distributor) to adjust.

My car was making a noise, although I would describe it as more of a "hissing" sound, from the heater/AC control panel. It turns out to be the heater control assembly that was bad. I was told another possibility when you hear that noise is the water control valve.
sounds like a system with vacuum controls( found in higher price/luxury vehicles ) for changing settings...def.,floor/heat,vent,etc. a cracked hose-or a hose that has popped off of the 'nipple' it fits on. does it change when you change 'mode-heat,def.,etc? also, there is a ' manifold ' where all the air tubes are joined and feed vacuum to move doors,etc. for heat-def. etc... somewhere under dash-passenger side-or near center that can leak at main vacuum feed. it looks like an cow's udder-clear plastic air lines connect there and go to respective controls for heat, def.,vent,etc. move the hoses a bit- with car runnuing-listen for change in volume of 'hissing'. of course-this problem could be at the control valve in the dash where you make the desired changes for heat,def., etc. the control valve is expensive- i have bought/sold vehicles for 40 years. i am a supporter of 'junk yards '...er,auto recycling businesses. they will pull the part-now you need to find an installer- this is a bit complicated,based on vehicle and location of hissing problem.finally...do all of the options for heat,def., etc. operate correctly-try runniong the system "thru the paces" a few times and listem for changes,location-as i said before-good luck...

You will need to remove the steering wheel to gain access to a screw which holds the cylinder in the steering colum. But if there is an air bag you will need to disconnect the battery then remove the air bag then you'll need to remove the pressure plate then the signal harness. After doing all that you'll see a screww at 3 o'clock which is either a torx screw or a hex head screw. aftyer removing the screw then pull on the cylinder and it'll come out in your hand then insert new one.
