Is there a points distributor that would replace the electronic ignition in a 90 colt 1.4?
No there is no points distributor for that year. Courtesy of the Garage Guru Consultant.
There are two vacuum canisters outside the tranny where you can get at them. One is the 4th-5th (overdrive) shift and the other operates the transfer case for 2/4WD. Sometimes when they get old, they leak; it is one of the freguent problems with Colt Vistas. As of 2008, these units seem not to be available from Chrysler (USA), but very possibly you can repair yours, even if you don't have much mechanical experience.
Have someone with a vacuum pump (Mityvac is a common brand and not terribly expensive) test the canisters to see if they do leak. After removing a bad canister, you'll see that it is built in two stamped halves. Gently pry back the tabs that hold the halves together. With the canister open, gently work the rubber diaphragm loose. If the rubber is "rotten" and cracked, you probably can't save the unit, and need to find one in a juckyard with a better-looking diaphragm. Clean any crud off the good diaphragm, especially around the edges which must get a good seal against the case halves. You might want to clean the rubber with a whitewall tire and rubber cleaners such as Bleche-Wite, and when it's dry, treat with a tire protectant or maybe Armor-All. Remove the rust form inside the case halves, particularly where they seal against the lip of the rubber diaphragm. The best way to do this is to have a local auto machine shop blast it with glass bead. With it clean, you could prime and paint the case halves inside and out to prevent more rust. But make sure you don't get a lot of paint in the critical sealing area around the inside periphery of the case halves. With everything clean and dry, you're ready to seal and re-assemble the unit. With your (clean, non-oily) fingertip, spread a thin layer of RTV silicone sealant on the outside edge of the rubber diaphragm; put a thin layer on the periphery of the case halves where the diaphragm must seal. And, crucially, work some silicone sealer down into the center of the diaphragm around the metal stem, both sides. Let the silicone seal set up for a few minutes, then set the diaphragm into the case, set the halves of the case together, and gently bend the retaining tabs back in place. Don't pull a vacuum on the canister for an hour or so, to let the sealant cure; then test it to see how you did.
The same moisture that rusted the vacuum canisters and compromised the original seal can also cause problems with the vacuum solenoids that route the vacuum to the canisters. These can also be rebuilt at home, but are a rather more delicate procedure. If you want to try it, take the solenoid apart very slowly, taking notes or making drawings of the tiny valves, seals, and springs (which tend to jump out). This is pretty close work, better suited to a watch repairman than a hammer-and-tongs mechanic. For more info on Colt Vista issues, try www.coltvista.com

Where is the coil wires on a 94 dodge colt 1.5liter?
There is none. The coil is inside the distributor.
How can you get the right rear hub off a 91 Dodge Colt?
It is probably held on with the bearing retainer nut.Remove the nut, washers, and bearing, and it should come off.The bearing retainer, or "spindle" nut, usually requires a 30mm socket to remove. If you can borrow an impact wrench (an electric model works well), the procedure will be much easier.
Where is the 02 sensor box for 1991 dodge with Mitsubishi engine?
No such thing as a O2 Sensor Box. The O2 sensor is located somewhere on the exhaust system. Looks similar to a spark plug with a wire connected. May be more than one. The o2 sensor on my 1990 Mitsubishi Mirage 1.5L (same engine as the colt i believe) is on the exhaust between the manifold and the catalytic converter
I had the same problem and the mechanic told me my seals were cracked. But then it wouldn't smoke again....in the winter, when the oil was thicker because of the cold. He suggested using 30w50 or close to racing weight as possible. I also used an oil additive by STP to stop smoking, and it really worked!
A sending unit ONLY tells you how much gas you have it will not prevent your car from running. Could be the coil pack??????????????? When does it happen, when cold, hot, at any given time when it feels like it????? Like I said, maybe the coil pack might be it when it gets hot. Check for spark when it happens by pulling the coil wire and laying it very close to the coil and have someone turn it over and see if you have a bright blue spark, if you have spark there try checking the spark at the plugs by taking an extra spark plug and laying it on the engine and see it has spark. If you have spark at the coil but a weak spark at the plug it could be a distributor problem. Heck it might be a fuel filter, some may laugh reading this part, but I have seen when a filter plugs up and after sitting the dirt backs up and it will run till the filter plugs up again. This happens from rusty fuel tanks.
i would check the a.i.c. or the throttle sensor, and it wouldn't hurt to replace the fuel filter and add some injector cleaner, oh and make sure a bail of hay is not in your air filter.
Why won't my 1991 dodge colt won't idle when engine is cold?
eagle727,there is a factory issue SERVICE BULLETIN,customer complaints are same as yours.believe it or not,if you use ANYTHING other than the factory recommended oil.this problem can happen.Do Not use thick oil additives, use only the right oil.I found out the hard way when I took it the the garage.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1993 Dodge Colt?
I just replaced my water pump on a '94 1.8L, I am assuming they are the same. The water pump is located under the timing belt cover. You should flush and drain the cooling system before you start. You must remove (and replace while your this far) the timing belt. To do this you have to remove the left front tire and the shields to access the front of the engine from below. Support the engine with a jack. Remove the serpentine belts and the motor mount on top. Remove the upper timing belt cover. Now the fun part. You have to remove the crankshaft screw while holding the crankshaft from turning. I fabricated a fixture to hold it by taking a piece of bar stock 1/4 x 2 x 24 and drilling holes for two carriage bolts and a hole in the center of them for a 1/2 inch socket extension (fits inside of the crank bolt instead of a socket on the outside). I had to grind some flats on the carriage bolts to allow them to fit inside of the crank pulley. I then wedged the bar to the ground and loosened the crank bolt. You will probable have to use a gear puller to remove the crank pulley. Once the pulley is off, remove the bottom timing cover. Loosen the timing tensioner bolt and use a screwdriver or something to push the tensioner down to relieve the tension on the timing belt. Tighten the tensioner bolt when you have the tension relieved. Slide the timing belt off. The water pump will be on your right. You will have to remove the small bracket above the alternator to remove the water pump. Remove the screws for the water pump and watch for the flow of antifreeze coming at you! Use a gasket adhesive or a small amount of gasket sealer to hold the new gasket in place. Follow the directions on replacing the timing belt for aligning the marks. As I write this I am trying to figure out this step. My crank sprocket does not have any marks on it for aligning with the block. I will have to find TDC on #1 to proceed. Hope this helps. Roughly a 3-4 hour job. Any questions reply to macandmaz@netzero.com Enjoy! You should set the engine to #1 TDC (Top Dead Centre) before you remove anything. The easiest way is to trace the #1 cylinder ignition wire back to the distributor, and note it's relative position. Remove the distributor cap and crank the engine over until the rotor (the piece in the center) is close to the noted position. Now there should be a small notch in the back lip of the crank pulley, rotate the engine by hand with a 1/2" ratchet clockwise (while looking at the pulley)until the notch lines up with the "TDC" mark, not the "10 BTDC". The notch on the front of the camshaft pulley should now line up with a small pointer that is cast into the head.

What kind of oil for 1994 Dodge Colt?

Where is the engine coolant temperature sensor on a 1992 Dodge Colt?
Located on the bottom left side of the radiator, next to the lower hose. There are several sensors on the 1.5 liter. The engine coolant temperature sensor you're referring to (I think) is located in the intake manifold, at the left hand side of the head. I always get the guage sender and this coolant sensor confused, they are adjacent to each other. Unplug one then check your guage when engine is hot, this will cause the guage to fail to register a temp, and you can identify the proper sensor.
My colt would fire then die often. Run occasionally for a few minutes, then die. Ater replacing or cleaning everything. I found the MAP sensor was bad. Napa is the only parts store that has it. If you do a search for it on their web site you will see a picture of it.
Does 1993 colt 1.5 to install a distributor Does 1 need to TC on compression stroke?
Turn the engine until the #1 plug is at TDC on the compression stroke. Mark the distributor at that location. Install the new distributor and turn until you are at the exact same location. Have the timing checked after you get it started.

What cars parts will interchange with parts on a 1990 dodge colt?
Parts that may interchange with a 1990 Dodge Colt primarily include components from other vehicles in the Mitsubishi family, as the Colt shares a platform with models like the Mitsubishi Mirage. Items such as engine parts, suspension components, and some interior fittings may be compatible. Additionally, certain parts from other compact cars of the same era might fit, but it's essential to verify compatibility based on specific part numbers. Always consult a parts database or professional for precise interchangeability.
