when serpentine belt comes off, you will loose power steering, the alternator will stop charging the battery and the water pump will stop circulating coolant so you will have a flat battery in an overheated engine and very little steering capability

The 2004 Dodge Durango EGR valve can be found on the firewall in the engine compartment. The EGR valve will be on the passenger side of the firewall.

Of course slim jims are not healthy, they are so fattening with lots of bad things in them.

try putting vehicle in neutral, then unlock hubs.then put vehicle out of 4 wheel drive

I just went through this with my 1998 Durango, it ended up being the ignition coil. Costs about $37.99 and takes about 20 minutes to change, a very easy fix.

open the bleeder valve

I'm assuming your talking about a disk brake, you need to use a C clamp and the old brake pads to force the piston back into the caliper. If it had a X in the head of the piston you need to get the tool to turn it back in. If all that doesn't work, the caliper is frozen and it needs to be replaced

OBD1 code reader. Any brand will work well on this system. Very simple system that requires no sophisticated reader.

You need to have someone read out the code. there are 849 general codes and several hundred make-specific codes. Any garage will have an OBD-2 reader (if vehicle is 1997 or later) , but they'll charge you. You can pick one up at checker/kragen for about $100 and never pay to have it read again. Believe me, you will save the cost of the unit in about a month, and also help out your friends and neighbors.

try checkin your timing belt it might not be right HUH??? I don't know how the timing could cause this, but... It sounds like the tranny is not shifting, especially since the engine runs up to 4000 RPM. Check your tranny fluid level. If good, try changing the tranny filter and fluid (1/2 days work and $120). Search this site for info on procedure. Otherwise, sounds like you may need a new transmission. Just don't tear into your engine looking for the timing belt. There's no way that you could rev it up to 4 grand with a bad timing belt! The explosion would be deafening!

If you go to your main public library and go to the reference section, you should find Mitchell auto repair manuals with complete electrical diagrams for most all vehicles.

I take it as the durango is a V-8 so if you are standing in front of the vehicle looking at the engine the cylinders on the right hand side are 1,3,5,7, and the cylinders on the left are 2,4,6,8, from front to back on both sides of the engine. Hope this helps

Check the bulbs first. Then check the fuse. If the bulbs and fuse are good, check the relay under the hood (you will have to take it to an auto parts store to have it tested unless you have a volt meter and a nine volt battery).

A Dodge Durango window motor can be ordered from any auto parts store. The prices for the window motors will vary depending on the year of the Durango.

On my 90 Olds Cutlass Supreme with a 3.1 V6 I had that problem. I think it was because the computer went out. The dash was digital and nothing showed up and when I left my foot off the gas it stalled. My 91 Lumina acted like that right before the fuel pump went. If I pumped the gas pedal quickly I could keep the car running long enough to get home. If I recall, the fuel pump is accessed through the floor of the trunk. Look under the carpet in the trunk pretty far in towards the back seat on the driver's side. You'll see wires going thru a little plate and 2 screws remove that plate.

some times the tail lights won,t work

I have the same problem with my 1999 Durango. I've noticed that it happens mainly when it is hot outside. Last mechanic that I had look at it decided that it must be the computer. Her referred me to a Dodge dealership. Haven't made it there yet.

sounds like a short circuit in trailer plug or wires to it?

when the fuel consumption become worse .does the hot weather affect on it or is it worse when the fuel tank is not full

i have this problem and heard that the bad fuel vent lines or defective canister can cause this kind of problem i hope this fix the problem

There is a good chance your fuel cap is loose, missing or damaged. Check it and replace if necessary.

check u joints on driveshaft.

should be five, but check in the book under capacitys, or under the hood on one of the stickers there.
