How do you replace a heater core in a 1996 Dodge Intrepid 3.5?
It's in the centre of the dashboard, right below the windshield. The bottom of the dash, sides and top of the dash have to come off. Drop the steering column onto the drivers seat, unplug all the wiring harnesses to the brake switch, 60 way connector, fuse panel,and all other connectors for airbags, turn signals etc etc.... take out the radio and heater control and console (if equipped). Remove the heater and AC lines in the engine compartment. Undo the 3 bolts in the engine compartment connecting the module to the firewall and the three bolts inside the car holding the module to the firewall. Pull the module out and the core is on the left side top. It's about a 15 hr job for a first timer.
The centre of the wheel is stuck. Just hit the tire with a big hammer and it should come off. You could try penetrating oil also

remove plug wire from top of valve cover .you will need a 6inch ex for rachetand a 5/8 plug socket.losen and pull up thru hole.
Possible PRNDL switch mounted inside the transmission next to the valve body..
not easy to change......

How do you change oil for 1996 Intrepid?
There are two ways...the correct legal way and an easy way. For the easy way, Pull up to a ditch, straddle it, craw under, unscrew the oil pan bolt, dump oil on the ground, replace the bolt, tighten securely. Dump in fresh oil, drive away QUICKLY before you get caught. (just kidding...NEVER do that!!!) Correct way: Take vehicle in for proper professional service at a trusted shop or, carefully jack up front end on a hard level surface, insert 2 jack stands under solid frame or suspension arms. Lower jack until weight of vehicle is supported by stands, take 2 pumps on jack to take up slack. Carefully crawl under, locate oil pan bolt, unbolt same and drain oil into specially designed oil catching pan (less than $12 at WalMart). Wait until oil drips are all but stopped, wipe exces oil from pan hole, insert bolt, tighten securely, remove oil pan and yourself from under car. Raise jack until stands are free from car, remove stands, carefully lower car. Start car, check for leaks...don't race engine when starting...repeat procedure in 3000 miles, but you should also change the filter each time! Garageman Rick

Advancing timing too far causes increased NOx emissions and stress or pinging, (and more power, to a point), reducing it too far causes loss of power and can burn valves. If your idle is still not stable after setting it to the specified value, begin troubleshooting per normal techniques.. like, checking EGR, for vacuum leaks, ignition issues, fuel delivery, etc.

I have a 1995 Chrysler intrepid and my dash lights do not go off when i turn on my lights but I may know why yours go off. Either right beside or below the knob used to turn on the headlights is a little dile that can only go up and down. This dile is used to dim or brighten the dashlights at night. The reason your dashlights may go off is because you have the dashlights dimmed way down (gotta love little perks Chrysler came up with) so try adjusting that dile. If that doesn't work, you may have an electrical problem or the light may be blown behind the dash. This could be really expensive to fix, so be prepared. .

Same problem with mine, after replacing water pump, thermostat I still had a problem. It turned out that my cooling fan was not working. When the motor was hot the fan didn't run, you should check yours. The AC fan will run when it is turned on so check that too.
