Idle speed is automatically controlled by the PCM. It varies from 600 to 1000 rpm. If it is not in that range then it has an electrical problem or a vacuum leak.

Review the data for the vehicle online at a free information site, like the troubleshooting at autozone's site, or buy a manual for your model to get the correct idle speed. Normally, adjusting idle speed correctly requires setting the car to a diagnostic mode. This is often done by shorting specific connectors on a diagnostic connector, ensuring the vehicle is warmed up, the AC is off, it is in Park, and all accessories are turned off. In diagnostic mode, you should be able to set the timing (using a light normally) by rotating the distributor (for cars with distributors only). While you are in that mode, you can also check the idle speed, and adjust if your idle control system allows adjustment. Many vehicles do not allow or make no provision for adjustment. While timing can affect idle, the statement "I think you should advance the timing by adjusting the distributer a little until the RPM goes to where you need it" is not accurate. Set the timing to the specified value, then adjust idle speed. Advancing timing too far causes increased NOx emissions and stress or pinging, (and more power, to a point), reducing it too far causes loss of power and can burn valves. If your idle is still not stable after setting it to the specified value, begin troubleshooting per normal techniques.. like, checking EGR, for vacuum leaks, ignition issues, fuel delivery, etc.

It comes with a Bose system made by Clarion. Clarion has a major problem with the clips breaking that move the CD's in the changer making the CD changer inoperable. Great car, lousy CD player. Buy a 2002 or 2003 if you really want a QX4. The CD player was upgraded.

I have a 1995 Chrysler intrepid and my dash lights do not go off when i turn on my lights but I may know why yours go off. Either right beside or below the knob used to turn on the headlights is a little dile that can only go up and down. This dile is used to dim or brighten the dashlights at night. The reason your dashlights may go off is because you have the dashlights dimmed way down (gotta love little perks Chrysler came up with) so try adjusting that dile. If that doesn't work, you may have an electrical problem or the light may be blown behind the dash. This could be really expensive to fix, so be prepared. .

Same problem with mine, after replacing water pump, thermostat I still had a problem. It turned out that my cooling fan was not working. When the motor was hot the fan didn't run, you should check yours. The AC fan will run when it is turned on so check that too.

Behing the drivers side headlight, right next to the underhood fuse panel. There is another box mounted directly behind the headlight, that is the transmission controller. The engine controller is the next one towards the fuse box. Check out dodgeintrepid.net for a ton of info on these cars.

You need to remove the rear seat cushion and seat back, then remove the two side panels on either side of the rear deck, then lift up the rear deck to gain access to the two 6x9's.

the motor is in the engine compartment on the passenger side firewall and the heat control is inside the car below the radio, just pull the trim piece off and unbolt the control unit and replace it.

it could also be a bushing on our power steering control arm, you can find it by tracing the black bar that leads from your wheel housing to behind your engine, just jiggle the bar a bit an if it moves and makes a metal on metal noise then that's most likely what it is. its a twenty dollar part and it is simple to fix and very very common.

your upper tie rod bushings could be worn out in which case they are fairly easy to replace.
