How do you replace the heater core in a 2003 dodge ram?

2003 dodge ram diesel 2500 hd ~ 80k miles. I am in the middle of this right now. The cabin air control box sits under/behind the dashboard. This box contains several air diverter doors which are controlled by electric servos, the blower fan, and the heater core and a/c evaporator core. As stated above the entire dashboard has to come out, dropping the steering column, draining the radiator and a/c, and massive amounts of dismantling inside and under the hood. So far I have ~ 30 hours of time in it to get it apart. A trained tech could obviously do it a lot faster but still a major job--I'm guessing 1.5-2k$ at the dealer. Dodge seriously underengineered some of the parts of the air control box. Specifically the air doors (there are 5 in my truck) inside the box which divert air from heat/air cond., dash, floor, and defrost. Two of these doors broke along the shaft around which they rotate (cheap plastic cannot take the loads and duty cycles). These are parts that should NEVER, EVER break in the entire life of the vehicle! They have issued a TSB on this but NO recall. The replacement parts have NOT been improved. I CAN'T STAND POOR ENGINEERING! I have figured a way to reinforce these parts on the cheap but the entire dismantling job still has to be done. The fix involves getting some 1/2" copper tubing which can be cut to size and will sleeve over the plastic shaft of the door at its base (where the white coupler slides into it) and where there are high loads. This sleeve is bonded into place with epoxy. If there is not enough clearance around the housing for the sleeve to fit in, then a little grinding/sanding may be in order to create clearance. The heater core replacement is straightforward once the air box is out. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND reinforcing these doors or replacing them when you do your heater core. Good luck is right.

Why does your blinker fuses keep blowing in your 92 ford bronco?

perhaps the fuse was inserted backwards. some cars will blow fuses if the fuse is intalled this way because in these fuses electrical flow only goes one way.

How do you change the key switch on a 1987 Chevy Celeberty?

How to remove GM Ignition CylinderThis procedure will require 2 specialty tools. A steering wheel puller kit and a GM Lockplate depressor tool.

Remove Horn Pad

Remove Triangular Circlip

Remove Steering Wheel Locknut (13/16ths - I believe)

Using Steering wheel Puller kit, Remove Steering Wheel

Once Steering Wheel is removed, Remove plastic insulator piece

You will now see steering wheel lockplate

Using lockplate removing tool, depress lockplate and remove c-clip from steering shaft

Lift off lockplate and lockplate spring

Remove Horn contact ring

Remove hazard switch button from outside of steering column

Remove turn signal stalk (if necessary)

You will now see the top of the turn-signal switch.

Remove turn signal switch (3 - #2 Phillips head screws)

Do not remove turn signal switch completely, just lay it out of the way

On right side you will now see a torx-head bolt (T-25 or T-30 I believe)

Remove Torx-head bolt

Slide ignition cylinder out.

Reverse procedure for installation.

What would cause the power locks on a 2005 Dodge Caravan not to work?

I also had the power door lock problem. I got the update as well. I called Chrysler to give them a chance to make good on the problem because I believe that locks are a safety issue and should be a recall item and the fact that there was a software update to correct it means they know that the problem exists. They told me that they don't decide which items to recall and that the NTSB makes that decision. It turns out that you can make formal complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and they will do an investigation. Their website is www.nhtsa.dot.gov or you can call them at 1-888-327-4236. If they decide on a recall you will get your money back on the software update.

We have the same problem. The quick (FREE) fix is to pull the IOD fuse and count to 5 and put the fuse back in. This resets the power lock "computer". The IOD fuse is a 20 Amp Yellow fuse in front of the fuse box, closest to the drivers headlight. We have to do this every 6-8 weeks.
