Where is the fuel filter located on a 1993 Ford Probe?

The fuel filter is actually in the engine compartment between the Air filter and the firewall and down. You will need a 10MM wrench to remove the fuel filter bracket assembly. It is easier to remove the fuel filter from it's bracket after the assembly is out of the car. You will need a pair of needle nose pliers for the factory crimping style hose clamps. The hose on the bottom coming from the pump will have to be accessed from under the car.

What should you do if a Ford Probe will turn over but not start?

check your gas check to make sure you have spark by putting a screwdriver into the spark plug boot keeping the metal a 1/8" away from a metal part on the engine. Do not touch any metal with your hand try to rest the screwdriver so you do not have to hold it. It might help to do this at dusk or in a garage so you can see the spark!!! If you have spark then you have to find the fuel pump cut off switch it is usually black with white button on it about 3" square. push the button in and give it a try if you bumped the switch or had a fender bender it is usually that easy it is an inertia switch so the fuel pump doesn't make a flame thrower during an accident!!!!! you can find it on the firewall most likely on the passenger side interior side! If that don't do it there is a small valve cap on the fuel injector rail usually silver metal with black plastic valve cap. Take that off and have someone crank the car while you push the valve down with a screwdriver make sure you cover it with a rag so it don't spray you in the eyeball If the rag doesn't get soaked in 2 seconds or so it's probably the fuel pump!! When the going gets weird the weird turn PRO!!!!! H.S.T.

How do you set the timing on a Ford Probe?

On A 1994 probe se it can be manually adjusted by lining up the timing marks on the timing belt.

AnswerBuy a book. The crank shaft has a mark for timing. You have to pull the pulley off first and line it up. Then the cam shaft gears do have a mark. Line I with E. My cam shafts each have both marks. Its complex if you take the gears off the cam shaft without paying attention. If that happens then you have a lot off homework to do---studying the positions of the cams and firing order, ect. could be a mess---good thinking, learning lesson for a novice---good luck. Finally the distributor timing needs to be set. I discovered that the rotor that spins around inside the cap can go on 3 different ways---pay attention before replacing and don't be afraid to mark positions and directions of these three main vital componites that make the engine run: Crank, cams, and distributor. Little more complex than nuts and bolts.

What causes a 1992 Ford F150 4.9 that has power going to and coming from the coil not to run?

just had this problem with a 1990 f150 lariat, was pick up coil inside the distributor, we also replaced the ign module on the side of the dist, also check the fuel pump relays on the fender well, they should click when the key is turned on and the fuel pump should buzz until the line is pressurized. Just some minor things to check. You can have the ign module checked at most auto parts stores for free, but tests will only check 1/2 of the module.

How do you remove rear seat of 1996 Ford Probe?

Hi You wanted to remove the rear seat of a 96 Ford Probe. First you must very carefully (as with the entire procedure) remove the kick panels on the left and right side of the seat as these hold the carpet down and you need access to bolts holding the lower portion of the seat which are under the carpet. To get to the rear bolts the split rear portion of the seat must be removed by accessing through the trunk. This is accomplished by rolling up the carpet attached to the seat which covers the spare tire to get to the bolts. There will be little plastic "stays" which hold the panels and in other places, if these break they can be obtained at a an auto parts store, however the rule of thumb here is to be very careful and take your time. I cannot possibly diagram where all the bolts and retainers are located so you have to very carefully look for them. Hope this helped. Stan

How do you change the thermostat in a 1995 ford probe se?

How do you replace the front parking light bulbs on a 1994 Ford Probe GT?

The way I did it on my 94 probe gt was to jack the car up about 8 in off the ground, USE some kind of jack stand, and for the left one, just remove the plasic splash guard on the left side to grand somewhat easy access. For the right side, I ended up taking the right front tire off, then partially removing the front bumper on the right side, then I removed the wind shield washer resivor, and while pulling out slightly on the bumper, SQUEEZe your hand in there and with a little skill change the bulb.

1. Remove the screws and pull down on the front portion of the fender liner. This provides just enough room for your hand to reach in and access the two bulb holders.

2. Turn the bulb holder counterclockwise and pull it out of the housing.

3. Pull the bulb from the holder and replace.

** What the book DOESN"T tell you is that it's a whole lot easier if you turn the tires opposite from the side you need to get too. Also, if you have really large4 hands or forearms, you may need to take the tire off altogether.

How to put transmission fluid in a 91 Ford Probe 5speed?

In loo of the first answer to this inquiry, I'd just like to say, I hate it when people answer questions like this with unhelpful things such as "check your owner's manual." Obviously if we are looking for answers on here, we either don't have an owners manual as our car is over 15 years old and it's lost, or (in my case)our repair manuals don't specify what we're looking for. This is called trouble shooting- we are putting forth the effort to find an answer to our problem before shelling out a bunch of money to a mechanic. If you can't help us figure it out, then don't reply and don't be a jerk.

Car sputters then stalls but no check engine light is on?

Had same problem . Replaced coil , plugs , wires , rotor cap and points . nothing fixed it . then read an article about 2 screws on the computer case that ground out and stalls the car . mine would die randomly or get really low rpm's and even when i hit the gas it did nothing until it stalled . To fix it undo the neg. battery cable , unplug the 3 connectors from the computer ( located on passenger firewall ) . Take out the screws located below plug 1 and 3 . They are a #25 star bit . Then go to home depot and get a small bag of #6 3/8" pan head machine srews . Works like a charm . Also you have to remove the coolant overflow tank that sits in front of the computer . Alot of people are having this proplem .

Is the switch the same for all ford products? i.e. 1998 Mustang

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On a 1997 Ford Probe the fuel pump shut off switch ( inertia switch ) is in the

cargo area under the carpet , near the drivers side taillight . If you don't smell

gas or see any gas leaking press the raised portion of the rubber cover in order

to reset the switch . Turn your ignition key to the RUN position for a few

seconds and then turn your ignition key to the OFF position . Make another

check for the smell of gas or any gas leaking , if none , go ahead and start the

Transmission is stuck between third and fourth gear car is an '89 ford probe. How can i remedy this problem?

Check under the car a the shift linkage to make sure the shifting linkage is not loose or rusted where it bolts into the floor of the car. Then check the level of the trans-axil fluid by pulling out speedometer cable where it goes in the trans-axil. If low check manual and fill. Both of these situations will cause the shifter to stick.

How do you unlock a Ford Probe that has a flat battery?

"Can you not unlock the drivers door using your key ( that's what I did when

my 1995 Ford Explorer had a dead battery )"

No, The mechanism on the probe is mechanical->Electrical->mechanical. When the key is inserted and turned, an electric actuator pushes the lock up. Without power, nothing will happen. The explorers locks are Mechanical->Mechanical->Electrical. Meaning turning the key pushes the lock up and depending on model if held one direction or the other will unlock the rest of the doors electrically.

Is the 95 ford probe gt an interference engine?

YES! The 1995 Ford Probe 2.0L, & 2.2L inline 4 cylinder are Interference engines. Also the 2.5L V6 is an interference engine. All engines require replacement of the cam belt at 60,000 miles. Failure to do so, can result in engine damage if the belt breaks.

Is there a switch or lever inside the car to open the hatch back on a 1990 ford probe?

it would be on the floor on the driver's side in front of the seat. if you reach down with your left hand, it should be right next to the front of the seat ================ I own a '91 GL and there is no lever or switch to open the hatchback, I have always had to do it manually. Other models or years may have incorporated one however, and it probably wouldn't be too hard to find. Chances are if you can't find one, it doesn't have one. -Shaun
