Checking troubleshooting codes Pontiac grand Am Se without a code scanner?

It cannot be done, you must have a code reader because the system is OBD2, you used to be able to do it without a code reader, but that was OBD1, OBD2 is much more complicated electronics. If you want to get it scanned, you should go to Autozone, they will code scan for free but will not clear codes. You have to pay someone with a code reader to clear the codes, disconnecting the battery doesn't work either

What causes the Check Oil light to come on and the oil pressure to drop when the engine warms up on a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am?

If the main and/or rod bearings are worn, the oil pressure can't be maintained after the oil warms up and thins out. You might be able to get a little more life out of the engine by switching to a heavier weight engine oil.

It is possible also that just the oil pump has worn and can't produce enough pressure at idle. Very often, though, if the pump is worn, so are the bearings, and vice-versa.

What force causes a leaf to fall more slowly than a penny?

We know that air resistance (or atmospheric drag) is what causes a leaf to fall more slowly than a penny. A large leaf that weighs a much as a penny has a much greater surface area than the penny, and all this surface area means that the leaf has more drag. Though the leaf and penny will be accelerated by the same amount of force (because they have the same mass), the leaf will present all that surface area to the air, and this will set up a condition of high drag.

Where exactly is the oil pan in a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am SE?

You're also going to have to drop the crossmember if you're changing the gasket

As with all cars, the oil collects it the lowest part of the engine. That's why your oil drain plug is where it is. You can see the oil pan by jacking up the front of the car and putting it on proper jack stands. NEVER support a car on just the jack; I speak from painful experience. If you wiggle under the engine and find the lowest part where the drain plug is you will be able to see the oil pan bolts going up into the engine block. In fact, the oil pan itself with trace the size of the block, so you will probably see a dozen bolts or more around the edge of the oil pan. If you want to remove it, make sure you drain the oil first, and never drain the oil when it's hot or you will be severely burned. If you remove the oil pan, you will need a new gasket when you replace it.

How do you remove the rear two seats in a 1995 Mercury Villager?

First, bring the seat backs all the way forward (so they make a stool seats.) On each of the middle seat "Captain's chairs" there are two levers. There is one on each side of the seat at the hinge facing front. One is on the "outside" of the seat and the second lever is on the "inside" of the seat. Release both levers preferably at the same time) and that will release the front hinges. The rear hinges do not have a release lever and can be "rocked" out of their postings for removal.

How do you replace the starter on a 1993 Pontiac Grand Am?

Starter replacement 93 Grand AmDisconnect battery, Raise car place on jack stands. From under the car at the front of the motor you will find the starter, loosen bottom bolt, then move to the top of the engine and remove the air cleaner and hoses, remember where they go mark each connection with different color marker or tape for easy assembly. You will find with some difficulty the top bolt that comes from the opposite direction as the bottom bolt, and also goes though the bellhousing and then into the starter. You wil need a socket a universal a long extention and rachet. After you loosen this bolt do not remove or you won't get it back in, just leave it sitting there. Go back under and while holding starter remove lower bolt. Once removed the stater will drop. The wiring harness will prevent it from coming out. Wires go to a sensor right behind the starter, when you remove this wire you can then begin to move and turn the starter and it will drop down and you can remove the wires from the starter after you mark or make a drawing of the wire connections. Have the new starter close to make sure you have the right one then transfer wires one terminal at a time. When reinstalling the starter you need TWO people, one to hold the starter and one to start the top bolt, becareful not to strip the theads, I think it's a fine thread. Once top bolt is started then start bottom bolt, then top and bottom can be tighten. Careful when you remove your socket and universal if you ever want to see them again. Reinstall air ducting and batt. cable, should be good to go. Hope this helps, take your time, getting mad at the Pontiac division of GM won't help. I just did this job and wanted to add my two cents.

Remove the following.

Battery - 5/16 openend wrench

Duct work in front of radiator - 10mm

Cooling Fan - 10mm

Air Cleaner Cover - open latch, slide left

Rubber Duct from Air Cleaner housing to Throttle Body. - Flat Blade Screwdriver

From the new starter you can get an idea where the mounting bolts are.

They can be hard to find.

Remove long Starter mounting bolt from front side of starter on top side

of engine - 15mm. Ok to remove completely or leave parked your choice.

From under the car remove shorter mounting bolt - 15mm.

Remove starter by working it around over the oil filter. It's a little tricky but you can do it. Place starter on ledge at bottom of radiator.

From top side, remove purple wire that activates starter solenoid. All other wires are on the large terminal that goes to the battery positive. Remove these as well.

Put every thing back in reverse order. Took me about two hours.

PS. If you need to replace antifreeze now is a good time to do it, after the new starter is mounted. Drain is located at right bottom of radiator. It's

plastic so be gentle. Coolant capacity is 9.5 quarts for the 2.3L Quad 4.

For a 50/50 mix you will need 1 gal + 24 oz. of Full strength antifreeze.

Good Luck - and may the Lord give you his peace.
