Which cars have the engine in the back?

Air cooled VW Beetles and vans, Corvair, DeLorian, Some BMW's, many models of Porche, and the Pontiac Fiero, although they CLAIMED that it was "mid engine", but if the driver is sitting in front of the engine, I'd call it "rear engine".

I'm sure there are some others, but I can't think of them.

Why would the radiator fan not come on if temp switch relay fuse and fan are all good on a 2000 elantra?

It could be due to a faulty ecm. I have the same problem on my 99 elantra. I know my cars situation, the fans come on a few minutes after I start it , but won't come on after it gets warm. Due to troubleshooting it and a call to a mechanic friend he suggests the ECM could be bad on my car. Said everything else would work, but not the cooling fan. Especially if you know the fan is good, replaced the relay, the water temp sensor, " the two wire one " is good. The single male prong end one controls the water temp gauge in the dash. Does your cooling fan's come on at all? If you turn on the Air conditioner do they come on? Both fans should come on with the A / C on.

The starter on the 89 Honda is on the top of the Transmission bell housing, on the 'passenger' side, It is basically just below the distributor. It is more accessable to get to it from the top of the car more then the bottom. The more extensions you have for your ratchet the better!

How do repair the rear door latch on1998 Honda Civic lx 4 door where rear door can be opened from the inside but not the outside?

This car is equipped with a safety lever on both rear doors. They are meant so children cannot open the doors from the inside. Open the door and look for the child safety lever. It is sometimes hit by accident and that sets the door on safe mode. Just slide the lever opposite to where it is and that should take care of your problem.

AnswerUsually, there's a rod that connects from the door latch mechanism over to the exterior door handle, which is just held in place with the same type of plastic retainers that hold doorlock and doorlatch bars to the interior door handle. Getting to it's a bit tricky, tho. Make sure the window's all the way up, then remove the door panel - procedure: Remove the cover from the front lower armrest (tight, but just pops off)to expose two screws. Remove these, as well as the one inside the interior doorlatch cup, just behind a small cover piece. Detach the interior handle from the two bars, and remove. Pop the door panel free starting at one of the bottom corners, working your way to the top. Lift the panel up once it's free to get it off the window seal.

Now, look inside the door, near the outside. You'll probably see the inner workings of the outside door handle. Try moving the handle from the outside, and look for a plastic bar that moves with the handle with a hole in it. See it? Well, there should be a metal bar attached to it. Check over above the doorlatch assembly deep in the back of the door (it's way back there!), and you'll probably find the offending bar just flopping around. You'll need either a magnet rod or some seriously flexible fingers to reach it, but go get it. Should have a 90 degree elbow at the end of it, bout an inch's worth protruding from there. That end is what needs to be connected to the door handle's plastic arm.

If you're lucky, there will still be a plastic retaining latch seated in the hole in the door handle's arm. If so, reinsert the metal bar there, clip it back in place, and you're done. More likely, it's either missing or broken (which is why you're fixing it in the first place). Run by your friendly neighborhood Honda dealer and grab a replacement.

If anything is different than what I've described, then you're in for a headache... as to investigate or remove either the handle or doorlatch assembly would require removing the entire window assembly, as well as some of the door itself. If adventurous, go for it. Otherwise, pay a shop a visit.

How do you remove the rear windshield wiper arm and motor on a 93 Honda civic hatchback?

To remove the wiper arm, gently lift the plastic cover over the base of the wiper arm, pivoting it toward the wiper blade as you lift it out from under the base of the wiper arm. The arm is on a tapered splined shaft, and simply lifts off. Due to corrosion, it may have to be gently pried off. NOT AGAINST THE GLASS, unless you spread the force over a piece of 1/2" plywood to distribute the force to prevent cracking the glass. I believe it's a 10mm (maybe 11) nut under the cover that needs to be removed from the motor shaft. Next is a dust cover, which when removed exposes a large, but thin, nut. I think it's a 24mm, maybe a little smaller. To remove the motor, remove the two screws from the bottom of the motor cover and pivot upward from the few tabs along the top edge. There's a nut (12mm?) on the shoulder bolt that goes through the glass and rubber bushing from the outside on the driver's side. Unplug the electrical connector from the cable on the left. It's released with a small latching tab on the back side of the 4-wire connector. Then remove the nut. The shoulder bolt and bushing are removed from the outside. Best to leave them in place until the motor shaft is clear of the glass in the next step. Remove the nut on the outside of the drive motor shaft (under the dust shield described above), and the large, thin washer - about the same diameter as the grommet beneath. The motor will drop in your lap. Extra hands would be helpful. The only remaining component is a large rubber grommet that goes through the glass. It's easiest to pinch and pass it through the glass when wet with water, especially when re-installing it. NOTE which side was inside (the thicker side), which was outside before it's removed. Likewise for the large washer outside the grommet. Look at the impression it made on the grommet if you forget. The dust shield is a no-brainer, and the nut is reversible. Compliments of Cliff D. in Columbia, SC. PS - I just did this last weekend on my '92.

How do you turn off the SRS light on a 1997 Honda Civic?

Go to autozone and have the codes read for free.

Going to autozone for a free diagnostic is not a very helpful answer. Autozone has a generic scan tool that can only diagnose a problem if the check engine light is on. Everything that I've been told/read is to go to the HONDA dealer and expect to pay the $80 to have it "Professionally" diagnosed/reset.
