How do you remove the interior door panel of a 4 door 2001 Oldsmobile intrigue?
You need to remove the window switch panel first. It presses in there CAREFULY push it towards the front of the car with a screwdriver pry up from the back. There is a plastic clip on the front you can break very easily they are about 60 dollars at the dealer if you break it. There is one screw behind there. There is one screw out in the open behind the door closer handle. There is one screw behind the door latch opener you need to carefully remove the cover panel. There is one screw on the bottom of the door facing up. Just run your hand across the bottom of the door. Should just lift off. Rich
How do you get the gear shift on 1998 olds intrigue to move or unlock when it is locked in park?
Remove the shifter handle.
At the front of the shifter there is a small horizontal slit. If you slide a flat head screw driver into the the button and pry upwards a two pronged holder will slide out. Hard to get to when it's in park. Might need to use needle nose pliers. Once the holder is out, pull up on the shifter, wiggling and twisting it until it comes off. There will remain a silver tube that is split at the top and a yellow plastic post that slides in and out of the tube. It's very easy to push down the plastic post with your thumb and shift the car. Car has to be on, brake has to be in.
This is a bad situation though. In an accident you or a passenger might be thrown onto the shifter post, complicating an otherwise survivable accident. (That's why there's such a big, padded handle on the top so people don't spear themselves on the shifter when the car rolls over.) I don't recommend driving around without a shift handle. Go straight to a junk yard or dealer and replace it.
If the button is stuck in then after removing the handle you can jam a screw driver into the bottom of the shifter and free it. If the spring inside is still working you can then replace the handle before driving.
If the shifter button broken I've posted an answer to "How to you remove the shift button on a 1999 Olds Intrigue?" that details how to repair one.
Anti-lock and brake light on in 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue?
do u have traction control as well if so is that light on to if yes , its proably wheel speed sensor which is built in wheel hub not hard to change 6 bolts,u need to find somewherre with code reader to tell u which wheel, the hubs cost 150-350 depend where and which grade u buy
ps the main shaft nut is 160 ft pds torque
1)If that doesnt work then after you remove the plastic cover and take off the nut...which is 13mm size, your going to need to get like channel locks or vice grips and pull the wiper arms off. 2)Once they are off, remove the cowl cover. You might need to get a small screwdriver and pry up the plastic screw and get a needle nose plier and pull the screw out and then the other little plastic thing the screw went into you have to pry out as well...it's not hard. 3)Then once you remove the screws, remove the lining strip and disconnect the wiper hose. 4)Now once the cowl cover is removed you'll see another plastic cover on the driver side. Remove that. There's a little white plastic thing holding it down. Take that off. Be careful because it might tear. If it does don't worry then it makes it easier to remove the cover. 5)Now you see a black plastic cover covering the gears and stuff. That just pops off. Take that off. 6)Now there's this torx head screw, just break it lose. Once its broken loss that whole gear thing will turn freely from the motor. You'll see an arm that stick up at an angle from the gear.It should be sticking up and to the right. It should be connected to another arm that actually pushes and pulls the blades. Turn the gear so that the arm is turned to the bottom left position. You might have to adjust it just a little to one side or the other but its in that general direction. 7) Once its set in that direction, re tighten the torx headed screw. Now put one blade on to see if its set correctly. Now if its not set correctly just adjust the wiper arm or readjust the gear. 8) Once you have it set. Do everything in reverse when you put it back together and you should be okay.
olds wiper problemif you pry off the plastic cover on the wiper blades- there will be a large nut- if this is not tightened down enough it will let the wipers shift from the original setting and even strip out some of the aluminum around the hole reposition the blade in the right spot and re tighten the nut
For the perfectionistIf you'd rather do it without breaking things, go get a re manufactured wiper motor assembly and replace it, assuring that the holes in the arms aren't stripped out.
Why i haveNo sound after hooking aftermarket radio in 99 intrigue?
if you have the Bose system you might need to hook up the aftermarket amp wire to the factory amp
How do you change an ignition switch on Oldsmobile alero?
I hope you enjoy disassembling the entire dash of your vehicle. First, make sure this is your problem. Troubleshoot all other avenues, especially if it is a power related problem. Also check the cable that runs from your ignition switch to the shifter to be sure it is in tact and operating properly. This cable will come into play later in this description. Now that you have lifted the cover over your shifter to check the cable, go ahead and unplug the wiring attached (should be a light and traction control) and sit this out of your way. You will need the room. Next remove thefascia that holds your climate control functions and surrounds your stereo/CD player. There are several things plugged into the back here, so take care not to damage anything as you unplug this for removal. I would recommend a small flat blade screwdriver and a pile of patience at this point. After you have removed this rather large piece of the dash, you have access to the bolts holding the stereo head unit in place. Two on the left and one on the right. Pull it out and unplug the harness and the antenna male plug from the back of the unit. You should be able to see the right side of your ignition switch at this point, but don't get your hopes up just yet. One of the bolts holding that beauty in is just under the gauge cluster so that is your next step. Remove the two small bolts under the hood of the gauge cluster. They are around the ten and two positions of the steering wheel. After these are out, take the small screwdriver and gently pop the lower corners of the surrounding fascia out for removal. If you haven't already, now is the time to bring the steering wheel into the lowest tilt position. There is one wire connection on the left side of the ring that has to be disconnected. This is for your trip button. Now you should have access to the four bolts that hold your gauge cluster in place. Remove these and roll the gauge cluster face down. Unplug the connection on the back. Don't worry, all of the information you see on the dash comes from the PCM so this is simply a display. Like a monitor of sorts. Slide the cluster out and put it in a safe place. Now you can finally get to the three small bolts that hold your starter ignition switch in its perch. Two on the left, one on the right. Pull the switch up and through the opening left by the removal of the gauges and disconnect the two wiring harnesses from the rear. Again, take care not to damage these connections as they are reused. The small three wire plug that connects to the side of the switch is an "L" shaped plug and the wires go in at the base of the "L". This plug should be removed in a rocking type of motion. Take your time not to destroy this little feller. Now then, all that is left is the cable that runs to the shifting linkage. If your ignition is locked in the off position, you have to separate the top and bottom halves of the ignition to free the cable. If the key will turn, just turn it over a bit and it will free it up. This is just a safety bar that slides up to keep you from starting your car in gear. Push in the tab on the side of the cable and slide it out of the ignition housing and it should be free. Replacement is simply this tedious process reversed. Good luck!
Where is the blower resistor on a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue?
I have Olds Intrigue 2000. Blower control resistor (Controller) located behind the
blower motor. Very close to the firewall.
Using 5.5 mm. socket remove the blower first. (3 screws are holding the blower)
Using the same socket (5.5 mm) remove one visible screw which holds the resistor.
You will have to loosen two other screws, located between the resistor and firewall. You don't need to remove them completely, just loosen them! And it is a pain in the neck to get there!!!
Resistor slides out when rear screws are loose.

right side just above the carpet under the glove box.
I am not sure about the 2000, but the 1998 model was an easy fix. Simply remove the carpeted upholstery with an upholstery button removal tool (don't forget to remove the interior light from it). Then, using a 7/32" deep-well socket, remove the blower motor (3 screws total). Be sure to support the fan while removing the motor since the screws break easily. Next, remove the bracket that has a wire tie on it which ties the cable for the blower motor and remove the wire tie (it slides apart left/right, btw). Carefully disconnect the blower motor from the blower motor resistor. Disconnect the remaining wire harness from the blower motor resistor. Using the same 7/32" deep-well socket, remove the screw closest to you and LOOSEN the back 2 screws. You will need to press the socket up to each screw since the rubber on the firewall is extremely close to the blower motor resistor. Once the resistor has been removed, simply slide the new on into place and install the screw closest to you. Now tighten up the back 2 screws. One of the screws is at a rather wicked angle so keep trying. Now replace all of the parts that you removed and you are done.
While you are at it, the fan control switch was extremely corroded in our car. The switch can be removed by pulling out the center console (2 9/32" screws on top of the arm rest). The switch comes apart by working each of the plastic tabs until it comes apart. Use some emery paper to clean up the contact surface.

I also replaced the resistor on my 2000 Intrigue. I used 7/32 deep-well socket I bought from Sears and a flex-cable ratchet. The front screw was easy to remove, but the rear screws seemed to be impossible to reach with the firewall rubber covering the screw area. I then pressed the firewall rubber with screw driver and the rubber stayed pressed. And the bottom screw became visible making it easy to loosen. With the rubber pressed away I could stick in my finger and could feel the top screw. With several attempts I could loosen the top screw and the resistor came out. When I replaced a new resistor I rotated the rear screws so that the resistor just slides in, and tightened the front screw. I left the rear screws untightened just in case I replace it again.
I was able to replace the resistor without removing the blower motor and even though less safe I made it without removing the negative cable from the battery.
How do you remove and replace Window motor regulator on a 2000 intrigue?
remove your door panel there will be three screws holding it on. then you have to remove the screws holding your window to the regulator. then unbolt regulator and motor from door. Undo wiring going to motor.
Why does the intrigue not allow you to rev past thirty five hundred rpms in neutral or park?
It is the rev limiter which protects your engine from over reving. While driving you can rev as much as you want. I never red line though and dont recommend it. You can remove it with a power programmer which can cost $$$$.
Where is the relay for the secondary air located on the 1999 intrigue 3.5?
not positive but on my 2000 it is the top 50 amp fuse in the small fusebox under the hood on the passenger side.
Why would the Abs light on 1998 Oldsmobile intrigue stay on?
There is a fault. Could be as simple as low fluid, but that usually lights the "BRAKE" indicator. The ABS goes through a startup check which will light the light if there isn't an adequate response on ABS function. The ABS unit probably needs to be repaired or replaced if it isn't low fluid or doesn't clear after a few starts. There could also be a problem in one of the brake lines or calipers. UNless you are a mechanic, I'd take it to a dealer or certified brake repair place. If the ABS unit light is on, it is likely the ABS will not work. You'll still have brakes, just no ABS. BUT - I'd get it checked out to make sure the car is safe.
I had the ABS light stay on in my 99 Old Intrigue and it cost me $1366.03 to fix it at the dealer. Obviously they just replaced it instead of tryin to fix it. That's what dealers do because time is money. This was the breakdown: GM Part: VLV K REM (18060807) Price:$654.41, GM Part: Core Sale (18060807) Price:$56.00, GM Part: Core Retu Price $56.00, GM Part: Motor Kit (18024482) Price: $371.82, GM Part: Fluid Price: $8.38 Labor:$259 Tax:$72.42 This was to install a bake modulator and ABS Motor Pack.
That info should be under the hood in the engine compartment, if not get a repair manual or use the internet to see if you can find the diagram that you need.
Quoth http://www.aa1car.com/trouble-codes/page3.htm :
"THROTTLE POSITION TROUBLE SENSOR (TPS) CODES
These include P0120, P01210, P0122, P0123, P0124 P0222, P0223, P0224, P0225, P0226, P0227, P0228 & P0229, and can be set if the TPS sensor readings are too high or too low (out of range), if the signal is lost, or if the signal does not correspond to the MAP sensor's readings. The TPS sensor monitors the position of the throttle so the computer can add more fuel when the engine is accelerating or under load. The computer may also need to know when the throttle is at idle or wide open to control other functions. A bad TPS can cause driveability problems such as hesitation. The sensor's resistance changes as the throttle moves, causing the return voltage signal to vary. Look for a change in the voltage output as the throttle opens and closes. No change or skips in the output would indicate a faulty TPS sensor. Also note: the idle voltage is adjustable on some TPS sensors and must be set within specifications for accurate operation. If the voltage adjustment is not within specifications, it can adversely affect performance and throttle response."

How do you take the governor off of a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue?
I don't believe it is possible. The regulation or "governor" is computer controlled.
Cruise Control Basics
Cruise control systems have been with us for years. They work very effectively to control the speed of the vehicle, but when they fail they can be a bear to diagnose and fix. Cruise control systems are comprised of electronic and mechanical subsystems. This is how they work. We all know that the things that control the speed of the car are the gas pedal and the brakes. And the brain that normally controls the speed of the car is the brain of the driver. The driver senses the speed by looking at the speedometer and then adjusting the pressure on the gas pedal or the brakes to compensate for variations in the desired speed. The cruise control system does the same thing with one exception. It only controls the gas pedal - it doesn't even know there are brakes in the car!! The vehicle's speed sensor which is mounted on the output shaft of the transmission (the thing that drives the wheels) sends electrical pulses to the computer, pulses which are generated by a magnet spinning past a sensor coil. When the vehicle's speed increases the frequency of the pulses increases. For any given speed of the vehicle there is a corresponding pulse frequency. It is this pulse frequency which the cruise control tries to maintain as a constant. You think of it as the vehicle's speed. The brains of the control box of the cruise control has three functions. First, it stores the speed of the vehicle when you press the "set" button while traveling at the desired speed. It keeps this value in its memory until you turn the ignition off. Second, it receives the pulses from the transmission sensor and compares the frequency of those pulses to the frequency value stored in its memory - the set point. Third, it sends pulses to a vacuum controlled diaphragm connected to the accelerator linkage. The pulses it sends regulates the amount of vacuum the diaphragm receives. The more pulses, the more vacuum and the more vacuum the more force on the accelerator linkage. The system continues to add vacuum force until the set point speed is reached. At that point the system modulates the amount of vacuum the diaphragm receives in an effort to maintain the number of pulses coming from the speed sensor as close to the stored value as possible. OK, so this "brain" works just fine in controlling the speed of the vehicle until something goes wrong. What can go wrong? First, the VSS, the thing that sends pulses to the brain might fail. Normally the speedometer also fails so that's pretty easy to diagnose.Next, the power to the brain can be interrupted. A blown fuse or a corroded connector can prevent the brain from working correctly or at all. Next, the brains can lose its ability to function. A faulty component can prevent the brain from doing its thing. The brain is a pretty sophisticated box that contains a lot of electronic components including a microprocessor. Normally when the brains fail you need to replace the box.. The vacuum diaphragm can develop a leak. If that happens then the cruise control might set and hold the speed for some time however if the leak is larger than the supply line and modulator can add vacuum to the system the system will slowly lose control and the vehicle will slow down. This can also happen if the vacuum line to the diaphragm is cracked or loose. Finally, the linkage that connects the diaphragm to the accelerator linkage can fail. Some aftermarket cruise control systems use a short length of what looks like fat key chain - bead chain. I have seen several units fail when the chain simply breaks. Diagnosis of a failed system can be a complex process. Most vehicle shop manuals have a multi-page diagnostic flow chart that the dealer mechanics use to solve failures. If there isn't an obvious problem like a broken wire, a blown fuse or a leaking vacuum line then the problem most likely lies in the brains of the unit or in the switch that sets the speed and contains the other functions of resume and accelerate. Most cruise control switches are on the directional signal stem, a multifunction switch assembly with fine wires that break due to the constant motion of the wires as you use the directionals in your daily travels. If you do an initial diagnosis and can't find the problem then go to the library in your town and get the shop manual. That is the only way you stand a chance of diagnosing and fixing the problem.
How do you remove instrument panel on 1999 intrigue?
To remove the instrument panel on a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue, start by disconnecting the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts. Next, remove the screws securing the trim bezel around the panel and carefully pull it off. Then, unscrew the instrument panel from the dashboard, disconnect any electrical connectors, and gently lift the panel out. Be cautious not to damage any clips or wiring during the removal process.
2000 intrigue turn signals not working?
Mine are working just fine, thanks! I assume yours are not working - try the flasher in the fuse box under the hood, or the fuse for the turn signals on the right side of the dash. Could be the switch has broken in the column (much bigger repair bill), but not likely if the switch seems to click into place in both directions. Another weird thing - if you have two bulbs burned out, the flasher usually quits working. If one bulb is out, it may flash very quickly. Therefore, check the bulbs to make sure they aren't the culprit.
