you can either remove the hose on the back of the pump and let the fluid leak out or you can suck the old fluid out with a turkey baster through the cap.

Remove serpentine belt.

Loosen & remove the lines that connect to pump. Properly dispose of old fluid.

Unbolt and remove pump.

You may need to use a harmonic puller to get pulley off pump, then install on new part (you can place a block of wood on pulley and strike wood with hammer to install pulley on new pump shaft).

Install new part in reverse order of removal.

Add fluid and turn steering wheel left and right a few times with engine off.

Turn engine on and ensure fluid is at proper level.

If pump wines or fluid bubbles turn steering wheel left and right with engine off a few more times to get air out.

Now your finished!

Put it in the p/s resirvoir located on the pass side of the engine compartment under the alternator.

you will most likely need acetylene torches.

i just did a 1999 grand cherokee.

remove 33 mm bolt. reinstall bolt a couple threads to prevent pitman arm from flying off. remove pitman arm. you will probably need to heat it red hot where it meets the shaft. using a breaker bar with a persuasion pipe on end helps on the removal tool. remove dust cover by tapping a flathead screwdriver with a hammer and deforming it enough to get an ice pick with a 90 degree bend under it. remove snap ring. turn steering wheel back and forth will generate enough pressure to force seal and washer out. refrain from turning wheel all the way in either direction. reverse procedure to reinstall.

if it has a cummins turbo deisle engine your hydro-vac system is either plugged or not functioning properly, check the lines running from the power steering pump to your brake booster for cracks or leaks if none are evident you'll probbly have to replace the hydro-vac pump

yes but you might ruin your pump. if you have a leak its cheaper to fix it.

== The VERY short answer is yes but the real answer is AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!! NO!! You will damage your pump if you drive like this. The only way to drive safely without damaging your pump is if your pump and only the pump is driven by a separate belt off the crankshaft pulley, you may remove it or cut it off. You won't have the luxury of power steering assistance, but your pump will love you...trust me.

That pulley is pressed on and off. It requires a special puller to remove it and to install it.. Some parts stores will rent them to you for free.

There could be many causes to a car leaking power steering fluid. There could be a hole in the reservoir, or the seals could be worn or broken.

Since jeep began they have used outside vendors for this type of part. Most jeeps have GM steering colums and gerars. If it is a GM steering box: Turn the steering wheel to the center position and loosin the nut on top of gearbox ( there will be a bolt with a stright slot scredriver head sticking up that this nut hold in place) using your hand on the steering shaft turn the bolt clockwise while rocking the shaft right and left and you will notice the play reduce. DO NOT TURN THIS BOLT MORE THAN 1/4 TURN AT A TIME AND NEVER FORCE THIS BOLT TO TURN. After you have reduced most of the slack tighten the nut and start the engine and test the slack in the steering wheel. This is a shade tree adjustment and you may have to play with it a few times and with a jeep of this year you will never get all the play out but it will help a lot. If you over tighten this bolt you will feel a tight spot in the center position of the steering wheel while driving and may need to back off the bolt a little. Make a mental note of the position of the screw driver before you start this because if the gearbox is shot this adjustment will not work and you will want to put it back where it was and and find a replacement steering box. It ran out of fluid because of a leak? The belt broke. The shaft [input} broke internally.

Is the belt missing? Maybe the tensioner is broken. your belt must be broken and missing ,that is about the only answer.

You drain and refill the power steering fluid by disconnecting the return line to the Power steering fluid reservoir and starting the engine and moving the wheel from lock to lock.

After doing this (evacuating all of the PS flulid) you need to refill the reservoir and move the wheel from lock to lock to get the air out of the system. It requires a hand held vacuum pump on the reservoir to "suck" all of the air out of the system. It can burn up your PS pump if there is air in the system. A better way to do it is to take a turkey baster and suck as much fluid as you can out of the reservoir and replacing it with clean fluid. If you do this every oil change the fluid will be clear and clean within 4 changes.

To take the power steering pump pulley off of many later model GM products requires a special puller made for that purpose. It is available from Autozone on their loaner tool program. The same set includes another puller to put the pulley back on.

Some water pumps also use the same style pulley.

The switch you are asking about changes the "feel" of the power steering. You can go from "easy to turn" to "harder to turn" the steering wheel by moving the switch. Newer model Lincolns don't have this feature any more----I liked mine.

Multiple subs wired together must be the same coil type and impedance. If they’re not, the power won’t divide evenly between them, and some subs would probably be over-powered while others get under-powered. If you want to run different types of subs in a system, each type needs to have its own separate amp. Then, multiply the number of subs you have by the RMS rating of each, to get their total RMS rating. You want to make sure the amp you choose will supply no more than the sub system’s total RMS rating. Figure out the possible total impedance(s) that the subs can be wired together to form.

You have two Alpine S Series S-W8D4 8" subwoofers and you want the right amp for them.

They are DVC 4-ohm subs rated at 300 watts RMS each.

Two 300 watts RMS subs together need a maximum total of 600 watts RMS.

Using the chart in Step 2, 2 DVC 4-ohm subs can be wired together to form a 1-ohm, a 4-ohm, or a 16-ohm load.

The last is too high a load to be practical, so you’ll look for an amp that can put out up to 600 watts RMS into either a 4-ohm load, or a 1-ohm impedance load:

up to 600 watts RMS x 1 at 4 ohms, or

up to 600 watts RMS x 1 at 1 ohm
