you can do it 2 ways you can jack up the car remove the right wheel (passenger side) and then the 2 splash gards that are held on by plastic retaining clips which will provide you with easy access to the tensioner then turn it clockwise to relese it the routing directions should be under the hood the other way is easier i think i just removed the top motor mount and then had eaiser access to the tensioner from the top it was also less dirty

If you had a bad coolant temp sensor would that cause the engine to not heat up well on cold days it takes FOREVER to get to normal or would that be a thermostat or a heater core i am puzzled?

Hello, Jamison here, The first thing, The temp sender or sensor, Have NOTHING to do with the temperature of the motor or the heater. This part only tells you the current condition of the MOTOR. If your heater is not heating up, It is likely either low on water (in the radiator) or The heater core is stopped up,,,,,,,If the engine takes A long time to heat up it is likely either low on water (in the radiator) or your thermostat is stuck open. ---------------------------------------------------- ^^^ The Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor DOES have to do with the Motor. The PCM uses this reading to raise idle rpms, change air/fuel mixtures, or turn the fan on/off if the engine is to hot among other functions. However what the questions describes is most likely a bad thermostat. If a thermostat goes bad it has a fail safe to stay OPEN and thus lead to your extended warm up periods and low engine temperatures. This is an easy DIY operation

Cam sensor in 97 s series Saturn?

No such thing exists on a 91-02 Saturn s-series.

The above is correct... mostly. Saturn did not use a physical camshaft positioning sensor on any of its S-series vehicles. There is however a pseudo camshaft pulse generated by the ignition control module and sent to the computer. If you are receiving faulty cam position sensor trouble codes, the problem exists in the Ignition control module.

Where can you get a starter rebuild kit for a 1993 Saturn SL?

What part of the country are you in? CSK Automotive (Checker, Schuks, Kragen) has exchange starters for Saturns, and I believe you can order them online and have them shipped to you, but they are generally only in western states. Try: http://www.partsamerica.com/ I think they have a lifetime warranty on starters. I've given up rebuilding starters, since it often isn't worth my time. But if you insist on doing it yourself, contact a local auto parts store and ask if they can provide brushes, bushings and solenoid contacts. If it needs more than that, just get a rebuilt. I do not believe at this time, that anyone has offered a rebuild kit for todays starters. It is not cost effective for them or the public. I have worked for Saturn and they do not offer parts for their starters. Even under warranty they replace their starters with new ones. Hi If you want starter and alternator parts just look in the yellow pages under alternators or starters find a auto electric shop they will have or can get any parts you need.

Why does a 1999 Saturn heats up to half way on temperature gauge then cools off to quarter when parked idling?

The 1999 Saturn S-Series engine heats up the coolant, the thermostat valve opens and the coolant circulates between the radiator and the engine. Then the radiator fans turn on to cool it back down. The fans are also turned on when the air conditioner is turned on to aid in cooling the radiator and the air conditioner condensor.

Where is fuse for cigarette lighter in 1995 Saturn?

If you look in from the passengers side front door there is a fuse access door near where the passengers left leg would be when sitting as a passenger. The small 20amp fuse is for the cigarette lighter and the power door locks. There is a white plastic fuse puller attached to the removable panel. Under the hood behind the battery (unless someone used it already) in the fuse panel there, there should be one spare 20 amp fuse there.

How do you fix the sunroof motor of a 98 Saturn SC2?

the sunroof motor is simple to replace, but may be time consuming. you first have to remove the headliner. take all the trim holding the headliner off to bring the liner down. once you are inside the headliner, remove the two screws holding the sunroof control assembly. Disconnect the wireing harness from the motor. 3 screws hold the motor in place. Before removing the motor, make sure the sunroof is closed and sealed shut. the motor is timed to the position of the sunroof. Do not turn the motor gear under any circumstance. once the motor is out, inspect the drive cables for any visible wear. Installation of a new motor is just the opposite of removal. the new motor should come pre-timed to the "Closed" position.

How to change the front door check link assembly in a 1996 Saturn SL2?

Pry off the kick panel. Then pry out the soft rubber cover that is under the kick panel that covers the opening. This will give you access to the back of the check link assembly. Remove the 1 bolt that holds the unit to the door and then remove the 2 nuts that hold the unit to the door jam. Reach in through the opening in the kick panel area to remove the old unit. Save the rubber seal, 2 nuts and 1 bolt. Insert the new unit through the opening in the kick panel area and hold in place. Put the rubber seal on and then put the 2 nuts on and tighten. Use pliers to extend the bar that attaches to the door and secure using the bolt. Replace the rubber cover and kick panel.
