I need a routing diagram for a serpentine built on a 1999 cavalier 2.2

engine with air codition

To get to the tension pulley, you have to take off the passenger side front tire as well as two small inner black fender wells. Without doing this you won't be able to change the belt. Also what is needed to turn the tension pulley is a 3/8 inch bar breaker. I couldn't get a rachet in the square because of the fender. After that its nothing more than putting the belt on the pulleys.

You are correct on the above, however there is a diagram that shows you how to put the belt back on the pulley. In my 1999 Ford Contour, once you open the hood, in the far upper left hand corner on the shock cover, BEHOLD there's the diagram that shows you how the belt goes back on!

I belive it has two belts one that drives the fan and one for the alternator the adjuster for the fan is on the right side and you need a 12 or 14mm socket and use a 14mm long wrench or socket and ratchet to move the tensioner

Remove belt and tensioner should just be bolted to engine

use a socket and breaker bar on the idler wheel to remove slack. remove old belt, follow diagram on panel or hood to install new belt

There should be a sticker under your hood somewhere showing the routing.

You use a speed wrench, (or speeder wrench) in place of your ratchet handle that came with your socket set. It has an off-center grip that you rotate around the wrench shaft. Due to its length, you will usually be able to keep your hands and the wrench clear of the work area, and will be able to rotate the wrench 360 degrees without interference - allowing you to install or remove nuts and bolts much quicker than with a standard socket/ratchet set.

3.3L and 3.8L Engines note: It is best to use serpentine belt tool kit. All of the belt driven accessories on the 3.3L and 3.8L engines are driven by a single serpentine belt. The belt tension is maintained by an automatic tensioner. # Raise the front of the vehicle and safely support it with jackstands. # Remove the right front splash shield. # Release tension by rotating the tensioner clockwise. # Remove the belt and install a replacement. # Proper belt tension is maintain by the dynamic tension. # Install the right front splash shield. Lower the front of the vehicle.

The cam belt drives the cam, keeping it in time. If the cam belt breaks, the engine not only will not run, but could be damaged. Make sure to change the belt at the recommended intervals.

The serpentine belt diagram can be obtained from most Daewoo dealerships. Most auto-parts stores will give you a diagram when you purchase the serpentine belt.

Uppermost pulley is the Power steering pump. Those 2 bolts that hold it on are the take-up bolts, loosen those and the belt will become loose. Easy.
1996 Neon has 2 separate belts not a serpentine. I would assume the 1995 is the same.

Are you sure it's a serpentine? From the manual, a 1999 V-6 Galant should have 2 drive belts. 1 should control both the power steering and water pumps and the other is for the alternator and A/C compressor.

should be able to find the diagram on the front frame when you open the hood on the black plastic piece between your adjusters for the hood levelers should be a sticker there or on the hood i can't remember

It is a project that requires either a Shop manual or service CD or expert advice or someone who has done it before. On my 1995 Del Sol I had to dismantle many things to be able to replace the timing belt. But, it was either this or $800 at the Honda dealer. It is such a job that I followed advice and replaced the water pump, idler pulley, A/C idler, and other belts. All of the belts, plus gaskets, came to around $135-$150.

Usually it takes a 3/8 or a 1/2 inch rachet on the spring loaded tensioner. simply put the rachet in the square hole and loosen the tension to get the belt off.

Completely immobilize the car. Block wheels.

Use a mechanics jack to lift front end of car.

Crawl underneath and remove the 4 bolts on the Alternator.

Caution: There may be left over freon ... oops! You said alternator. I was thinking about the a/c compressor.
