How do you replace a passenger side mirror on a 2000 suburban?

I don't know if it's the same for a 2000, but I just replaced the driver's side mirror on my 2001 and it took about five minutes. There is a triangle panel at the front of the window. It will probably be easier to remove with the window down. There are clips on either side (at the top) of the triangle that attach to the door frame. Pull from the top detaching the clips and then slide it upward. You will then notice the three nuts as the mirror has the bolts. Unhook the mirror harness and remove the three nuts. Reverse the process and your done.

How do you replace side mirror for 2000 Toyota Camry?

how do i replace a drivers side mirror on a 200 Toyota Camry?

I just replaced the right side mirror on a 2000 Toyota Camry. It is attached to the car with 3 bolts. Open the car door and one of the 3 bolts is easily seen by removing a round plastic cover on the bolt screw. This is easily done by hand. There is a 10mm nut on the thread which can then by unscrewed. The other two bolts are inside of the triangular inside panel forward of the side door window. The car I worked on had a small speaker in this panel. The panel has a hinge clip on the bottom and is just pushed in at the top. To remove it, pry the panel open by inserting a screwdriver underneath the top point of the triangle and separate it from the door frame. Be gentle and go deep enough not to break the plastic , but it will then just pop loose. Then the two other bolts and their nuts will be visible.

Remove the two remaining nuts holding the mirror on to the car. Also remove the electrical connector which attaches to the motor in the mirror. This may be a little difficult because of the locking knob on the connector. I used a small screwdriver to open that up a little.

Now the outside mirror can be removed and the new mirror assembly replaced in the three holes. If the side panel has a speaker, the speaker bracket should be placed onto the bolts before the nuts are screwed onto the bolts. After all the nuts are tightened and the electrical connector is reinserted, the triangular plastic panel can be replaced. Line up the hinge clip at the bottom of the panel with the hole in the frame at the bottom, push it in at the top and it will snap in place again. The round cover for the exposed bolt is pressed in place on that bolt and the job is finished. Adjust the mirror.

How do you remove a passenger side mirror on a 1996 Tahoe?

This is for a 1996 Tahoe. Let me first tell you that I got most of this from a previous answer for a 1999 Tahoe and most of this applies so I give full credit to the guy who wrote most of this, whomever he/she is. I'll use quotes for the previous answer stuff.

"First off, I imagine that you are talking about the mirror housing and not just the plate of mirror glass. If you are talking about the mirror glass itself, that is a simple remove and replace with an after-market piece of mirror glass. Auto Zone or Advance Auto Parts, or the generic equivalent, should have the plates. I would advise staying away from the GM store - they are EXPENSIVE to buy there."

If you are replacing the whole mirror assembly,it is a bit more involved. First, the tools you will need include a 1/4" drive ratchet" with a 10mm socket, a wobbler/universal socket, and a 6" extension. I also recommend a small 10mm wrench to help loosen/tighten the nuts.

"Some electrical tape will come in handy to hold the nuts so you don't drop them into the door, never to be seen again. Also, a piece of flexible wire - a thin piece, is nice for holding back the power cords. The outside element is fits through the door with three projecting studs, and is retained by three nuts. You will also have to contend with the power cable for the motor, and possibly heat, if so equipped." Power only is a 4 head pin.

"A large flat-bladed screwdriver is necessary to pop the triangular shaped trim piece that covers the interior-access nuts." For 1996, this trim piece only moves up. You cannot pop it out, so pry it straight up.

"Next, using the wire or tape, grab hold of the power cable on the inside the truck side. Anchor it to the door or tie it off so that the cable cannot drop into the door panel. Separate the two sections of cable - one to the truck side, the other to the soon-to-be-gone mirror side."

For 1996, you may not have sufficient wire slack to do the above. If not, gently but firmly pull the rubber cable housing out of the forward inside door frame and see if you can pull more wire out the forward car body. It's alittle hard to pull out but I did get enough out to get to the car/mirror wire connector at the top. Disconnect the mirror from the cable wire and plug the new mirror wire in and check that it works, i.e. the mirror moves when you adjust it using the conrtrols on the left door panel. This way you won't go through the following just to find out that the new mirror doesn't work.

Use 10mm wrench or ratchet to slightly loosen all three nuts. Next, apply a 1/4" wide/6" long piece of duct tape to the nuts and remove the bottom two first with one hand while securely holding onto the duct tape. You could also use the ratchet backed up with a piece of tape. BTW, put duct tape on every single thing you put inside the panel opening. Make sure that the outside mirror is duct taped into position. Now you can remove the third/upper nut. The mirror is ready to spring free. Give it a tug-n-jiggle and out it should come.

The new mirror probably won't fit correctly with the existing rubber gasket so just remove it if that's the case.

"That's the "remove" part, now for the "replace". Guess what, it's the opposite of "removal", but with some warnings. First, Remember to connect the power cable! Also, use tape to seal the nuts into the socket before you try to spin them onto the studs. These are small nuts, on the end of a wobbly extension or flex-drive, and it is easy for them to pop off the stud and down into the door. A bit of tape or putty in the socket will keep them in there until you have them on the studs and snugged. When you are removing the socket from the nut, be extra careful that the socket does not come off the extension and drop into the door." Again, duct tape the sockets to the wobbley/extension and the wobbley to the ratchet, etc.

"Finally, check out the operation of the mirror and pop (slide) that trim piece back into place. I've done three of these mirror swaps and it seems to take about an hour to gather the tools and do the work. It's nice to be able to do it without interruption, too, so try to find some quiet time to knock this out in. " Took about 1 1/2 hours for 1996.

Why would passenger side power window go up but not down on my 1990 astro van?

A faulty power window switch or faulty wiring. The motor works in either direction (there is only one motor per window), so it's not the motor but the wiring or the window switch. Unless the motor control is damaged, that is. Check the switch for continuity first, then check the continuity of the wiring. If you don't find the fault in either of those places, check the motor assembly. Post back here with your findings. Thank you.

How do you replace the Drivers Side mirror on a 1998 VW Beetle?

If the metal pivot arm is not broken you can just replace the glass and plastic housing. To remove the glass you tilt the glass down towards the floor and use a wide plastic or wood bladed object to prise from behind, the glass should pop off from its clips. Remember to catch it if its not damaged. To remove the housing once the glass is out you need to look underneath the mirror unit, there you will find a small plastic bung, gently prise it out and then use a long small flat bladed screwdriver straight up inside the hole and lever towards the front of the car whilst lifting straight up on the plastic housing, this should then lift off. To replace just slot the new housing on and click into place then fit the glass back, remember to connect the wires first if it is a heated glass.

If the metal pivot arm is broken then you will find the remaining screws behind the plastic trim inside the vehicle.

How do you get the button off the rear view mirror to reattach it on a 1995 GMC Sonoma?

normally what i do it is to have some one hold the mirror very tightly while the button assembly is sitting firm against a hard surface (like the edge of the table) then i take a flat head screwdriver and a hammer - put the tip of the screwdriver on the button and just knock it out with the hammer - works like a champ for this redneck p.s. make sure you glue the correct side of the button and yes - use the primer first.
