What do astronomers do?

Astronomers use the principles of physics, chemistry, and mathematics to learn about the fundamental nature of the universe, including the sun, moon, planets, stars, and galaxies. As such, astronomy is sometimes considered a subfield of physics. They also apply their knowledge to solve problems in navigation, space flight, and satellite communications and to develop the instrumentation and techniques used to observe and collect astronomical data.

Almost all astronomers do research. Most of them also have teaching as part of their work, usually in a university.

Some are theoreticians, working on the laws governing the structure and evolution of astronomical objects. Others analyze large quantities of data gathered by observatories and satellites and write scientific papers or reports on their findings. Some astronomers actually operate large space-based or ground-based telescopes, usually as part of a team. However, astronomers may spend only a few weeks each year making observations with optical telescopes, radio telescopes, and other instruments.

A small number of astronomers work in museums housing planetariums. These astronomers develop and revise programs presented to the public and may direct planetarium operations.

Work environment. Most astronomers do not encounter unusual hazards in their work. Astronomers who make observations with ground-based telescopes may spend many hours working in observatories. This work usually involves travel to remote locations and may require working at night. Astronomers whose work depends on grant money may spend a lot of time writing grant proposals to keep their work funded.

Astronomers may need to work at odd hours to observe celestial phenomena, particularly those working with ground-based telescopes.

What is the appropriate professional clothing attire for fitness facility staff?

Depending on the facility.

I've worked in a "muscle meat head" type gym, where I was expected (as a female) to dress in tight clothes, make-up done, hair done, bra or tank top with belly showing, no jewelery, clean white gym shoes.

I've worked in an all female fitness facility where I was expected to wear a collared golf shirt and lulu lemon styled pants with clean gym shoes.

I've had to wear a facility issued track suit. Not a nice Adidas or Nike one (like Sue on Glee) but wind pant kinda stuff.

And most recently, a place that focuses on athletes, I am expected to wear clean, up-to-date clothes, no bellies or boobs showing, no skorts, and we had to be fitted by the physio on staff to have proper running shoes.

What does a driver have to do during the racing process?

The answer for this question is largely specific to the type of racing. So, I will explain in brief about what Formula One drivers do in their cockpits. 1. BEFORE THE START OF THE RACE: Racing and in particular F1 is physically extremely demanding. The drivers dehydrate in the course of a race and hence they make sure they take a lot of fluids before the race. They also take carbohydrate-rich foods (like pasta) to keep their energy levels high. 2.DURING THE RACE: The drivers can't do much during a race except taking some water from their drinks bottle. 3. AFTER THE RACE: Once they're out of the cockpit, they, again, take energy drinks (like Redbull) to rehydrate themselves, get a bit of massage and off they go...

Different between training and development.explain the different method of employee training?

Training focuses on teaching employees specific skills and knowledge required for their current job roles, typically short-term and task-oriented. Development, on the other hand, is a long-term process aimed at overall employee growth, including future leadership skills, personal growth, and career progression. Various methods of employee training include on-the-job training (OJT), where employees learn by performing tasks under supervision, and classroom training for theoretical knowledge. E-learning offers flexible, online modules, while workshops and seminars provide intensive, interactive sessions. Simulation training allows practice in a controlled environment, and mentorship or coaching provides personalized skill development. Job rotation helps employees gain diverse skills, and apprenticeships combine practical training with classroom instruction.

Is multitasking a real thing?

It is a real thing, but in most studies on the subject people can't do it well. They are distracted by one thing while trying to do another.

The best results are usually achieved if one task is repetitive and really well understood, and takes little attention, and the other requires a different sensual input. For instance, listening to a conference call while copying & pasting things into the correct areas of a spreadsheet. Even in this circumstance, however, both tasks are usually completed with lower quality than if all a person's attention were directed just to the one thing. In our example, for instance, the person might not catch everything that is said in the meeting, or not volunteer his or her opinion, and later find out that they don't agree with a group decision that was made on the call. The spreadsheet might have minor mistakes, or not have any, but it was completed much more slowly than the person would do without distractions.

That's a pretty normal trade-off in life though... speed for quality, so it just depends on whether it is worth it for those particular tasks. And distractions don't just exist when people are trying to multitask regular work things... you could say that everyone, everywhere is almost always multitasking... thinking about what they are going to do after work rather than what they are doing at work... so it just depends on the circumstances and the person whether one distraction is worse than another.

For me multitasking only really works for things where we would already be distracting ourselves. For instance, when I get together with family we will often play cards. This gives us an excuse to talk and bond and get in some witty banter in a circumstance where, if the cards were not present, everyone would feel like they needed to be cooking something or doing something more "productive" than sitting around and talking. In that circumstance, it works... but of course it is still problematic if one person is not paying attention, either to the cards or to the conversation. :)

What happens when someone does not demonstrate Emotional Intelligence in the work place?

It really depends on the job. If you are a scientist, mathematician, or engineer, then emotional interaction, reading the inflections and body language of others, and so forth are not as critical.

If you are in a public-facing or people-oriented field such as public relations, communications, or marketing, then a lack of emotional intelligence will likely result in a very limited career.

In any case, emotional intelligence allows for a person to read others' emotions, adapt to emotional stresses, react properly to people within the context of collaboration and tactful interaction, and work with others in an effective and efficient fashion.

More and more, these skills are becoming critical as pressures in the overall job market require overlapping and interdisciplinary skill sets to collaborate for business goals.

What are the proper education steps to become a child and adolescene psychologist do you get BA MA Ph.D or is it BS MS Ph.D and is there any specific degrees for ex. master in developmental psy?

You can get B.A. or B.S., it depends on the university/college you attend, and on the amount of science/art classes you take. I believe that once you want to get a job the difference isn't very significant. So, if you look into the programs you want to attend you can just choose between getting B.A. M.A. PhD and B.S. M.S. PhD.

A Psy.D is for Clinical Psychology, but you mentioned Developmental Psychology so you should go for a PhD. You can get specific degrees, as in a Bachelor of Art/Science in Developmental Psychology, or in Child Psychology, Adolescent Psychology or in Child and Adolescent Psychology. So you get to choose. On the other hand, most institutions offer general psychology so you just get a B.A./B.S. in Psychology. And you can also choose with masters and doctorates.

It doesn't really matter which Bachelor you get as long as it is psychology, alternatively your master and doctorate should be about the specific branch you choose.

Oh, and yes, there are specific degrees. In all of them, Bachelor, Master and Doctorate.

What is the difference between Organizational Psychology and General Psychology?

There seems to be a trend, where both industrial psychology and organizational psychology are used interchangeably nowadays. There is the field of industrial-organizational psychology as well, which encompasses both.

Industrial psychologists have been concerned with individual factors in selection, placement, job analysis and design, safety and training while Organizational psychologists, on the other hand, have examined the role of interpersonal relations, and individual differences especially in modifying and changing organizations, examining decision making, group dynamics, leadership, organizational development and change.

Industrial psychology is labeled as more empirical, experimental and precise as they test and select the best people o match the demands of job, and organizational psychology is mostly labeled as clinical, humanistic and they use more qualitative methods to obtain their data.

What is the importance of Alderfer's ERG theory?

The importance of Alderfer's ERG theory (Existence/Relatedness/Growth) is that it took Maslow's hierarchy of needs and reduced it from the five categories of Physiological & Safety needs (Physical - Existence), Belonging & Esteem (Social - Relatedness) and Self Actualization (Self - Growth) and reduced them to the three needs already listed.

In addition to this, whereas Maslow's theory dealt with a selection of goals along a journey Alderfer's theory allowed for a flexibility between the levels. Therefore if a person's R needs were dissatisfied then he would focus on satisfying his E needs to an imbalanced extent, hence people become overweight, etc.

Alderfer's theory allowed an explanation for the starving artists who are happy to focus on their work for no return as they are more obsessed with growth than they are with existence. Likewise the religiously obsessed who do not mind living with no certainty where their next meal is coming from because they are focussed on spirituality.
