Air Filters and Intake Manifolds

Air filters are devices that remove solid particles such as dust, mold, and bacteria from the air. Used in building ventilation systems and engines, they contain an intake manifold that is primarily tasked to optimize the system/engine’s performance and efficiency.

How do you replace the water pump on a 99 blazer 4.3 does the intake manifold have to be removed?

Nothing major like the the intake has to be removed. Below are the basic steps to change it out. I'll also add a link to the right that will take you to a walkthrough with pictures. 1)Drain the coolant: 2)Remove the shroud: 7-10 mm bolts 3)Remove the fan and clutch: There is no need to separate the fan from the clutch. The whole thing threads on to the end of the water pump. I don't know the size, because rather than break out all my wrenches, I just grabbed an 18 inch crescent wrench. Place the wrench on the nut and tap loose with a hammer. the tapping will break it loose. You have to tap it, if you just try to loosen it, the belt won't hold it and the whole thing will turn. After it breaks loose just spin it off. 4)Break loose the bolts holding the pulley on: 4- 13 mm or 1/2" bolts Just break them loose, don't remove them 5) Remove the serpentine belt 6) Remove the pulley: Finish removing the bolts holding the pulley and remove the pulley 7) Disconnect the hoses 8) Remove the old pump: 4-14 mm or 9/16" bolts 9) Clean the surface: Remove all traces of the old gasket. 10) Install new pump: Apply a bead of blue Permatex around the holes on both sides of the gaskets, put them on the pump and insert the bolts through the holes to hold the gaskets in place. Carefully lower the pump in to position. Thread the bolts into the block and snug them. Then remove the bolts one at a time, add the permatex to the threads, and then reinsert. (only do one at a time so that the pump doesn't shift and disturb the mating surfaces) Then tighten all the bolts. 11) Reinstall everything in reverse. There will be a lot of air trapped in the system, so after you fill it, get the engine to operating temperature, shut it off, let it cool, then add more. The air trapped in the system can cause your engine to over heat if left unattended. I suggest filling the system with water only and run it like that for a day or two just to make sure there are no leaks. That way you don't waste your antifreeze if you have to do further repairs. See the Related Link for "Water Pump Replacement Walkthrough With Pictures" to the bottom for the answer.

Replace cabin air filter ford focus?

· Activate the windshield wipers and turn the ignition off when the wipers reach the upward position. The wiper motor has an automatic reset of the blades, so turning off the motor with the keys in the ignition will not work. To achieve the task, wait until the wipers are in the raised position and then shut the power source off to the motor.

· Open the hood. Remove the capped screw located in the center of the wiper arm cowling. Unscrew the screw halfway out and then pull out the fitting.

· Locate and unclip the three retaining clips on the front of the cover to remove it.

· Remove the old filter underneath the cowling. If a filter is not present, remove the screen plate underneath the cowling.

· Install the filter into the screen plate so the arrow indicator for air flow is pointing in the upward position.

· Reattach the housing and clips and then replace the cowling. Tighten the capped screw and then close the hood.

Why won't your Engine start unless gas peddle depressed?

IT wont start cause on most cars when you press the pedal down the injectors will not spray out any more fuel that's why if your car is flooded people say to push the pedal to the floor

Is there a special air bleed procedure when you replace antifreeze in a 1992 Honda Accord?

After you drain and refill, turn on the heater all the way hot. Then after 5 minutes open the bleed bolt on the thermostat housing to bleed the air out. - - - - - The way I always do it is to open the bleed bolt (12mm deep well socket), turn the heat on full, then add coolant to the radiator while watching the bleed bolt. When coolant comes out of it, add just a little more to the radiator, and close the bleed bolt. Don't get stupid with the torque; it's an aluminum bolt screwed into an aluminum fitting, which means it can't take a lot of force. Just get it snug. Put on the radiator cap and you're done.

Where is the pollen filter on 2.0 engine jetta?

On the 2006+ model, aka Jetta V, it is located underneath the passenger side dash in the vehicle foot well. Here's how to remove it: 1. If you look under the dash there are two plastic screws (the big flat top kind). 2. Remove those screws and then pull down the foam cover that the screws were holding up, you will see a rectangle cover. 3. You may have to pull the foam away from other trim, but it is very flexible. 4. The rectangle cover has the word “OPEN -->.”. Slide it open in the direction of the arrow. 5. The filter can be easily removed by just pulling it down.

What are torque specs for 5.7 aluminum intake manifold?

With iron heads, the stock spec for iron intakes of 30ft-lb should do. If you are going into aluminum heads, you do not want to go very tight, maybe 20ft-lb or so. AFR recommends just making them "snug" when installing an intake and exhaust headers on their aluminum small block heads.

How do you change spark plugs on a Jaguar X type?

I have not done the job yet but this is what I am going to do. Remove plastic cover over the engine ( three screws) You then have access to the front three spark plugs ( cylinders 1,3,5) remove the nut which holds down the independent coils and remove the spark plugs, fit new spark plugs and fit coils on the three front cylinders.

Now it gets a little tricky, you will only be able to access number 2 back cylinder so you have to remove the induction manifold (12 bolts I think) to access the back three cylinders (2,3,6,) properly. Then proceed as with the front three spark plugs, refit manifold and plastic cover, job done.

Removing the inlet manifold on Jaguar X-Type

After disconnecting all the plugs and hoses to the inlet manifold (I left the throttle body on the manifold, disconnected the two small heater hoses) remove the two bolts holding the cable harness at the rear, then the single bolt just below the cable harness. This bolt is located lower and to the right hand side (looking at the engine) difficult, DON'T DROP IT)) remove the bolt securing the inlet manifold to the support bracket. (R/H side.) undo the SIX BOLTS (WARNING. These bolts are of various lengths NUMBER THEM SO THEY GO BACK CORRECTLY) remove manifold. (Make sure just tighten the first time round, once all are fitted and tightened then torque them down)

It is advised to change the upper inlet manifold gaskets, there are SIX of them.

To change the Plugs at the front it is necessary to remove the air cleaner box, after removing the two bolts and bracket at top remove the air filter, you will see two screws inside the bottom of the box, remove these, then pull the box in an upward direction.

Where does an intake manifold go on an engine?

The intake manifold attaches to the heads of the engine and send an air and fuel mixture to the combustion chamber through the intake valves. The intake manifold is usually situated on the top of the motor.

When do you change the engine air cleaner filter?

At the very least, every 12,000 miles. If you drive in constant dusty conditions, the interval between changing this filter becomes smaller. A clogged air filter only chokes the engine from getting the proper amount of air for proper combustion. Imaging trying to draw air through a straw that has the other end pinched.

Where is the 1996 Toyota 4Runner cabin filter?

Most likely there is not one. Check Wal-Mart air filter list to see if one is listed. In later models the filter is located behind the glove box

What is the torque sequence for a 1999 Chevy blazer 4 3 how tight should bolts be on the intake manifold?

Dunno if it's any help, but on my 93 model it was 125 INCH pounds. No sequence was listed so I criss-crossed in an alternating pattern.

How do you remove the air filter on a Chrysler PT Cruiser?

Steps to replace the battery

Air Cleaner Removal

1. Loosen the air intake hose clamp (with a flathead screwdriver), which holds the intake tube to the air box lid.

2. Once the hose clamp is loosened, pop open the two spring-loaded clamps on the left and right side of the air box. The clamps help secure the lid to the air box. On the back of the air box lid there are 4 plastic slots, which match up with 4 corresponding tabs on the air box. In order to unhinge the lid from the air box slide the lid away from you about an inch and gently lift the lid up. Ensure that the lid is free from the air box hinge; then carefully disconnect the air intake hose from the lid at the hose clamp and remove the lid from the engine compartment.

3. Lift the air filter out of the air box.

4. The lower air box is removed by just tugging on it, it will pop out. It's held in place by three rubber pins that wedge into the indentations in the plastic air box.

Battery Removal

5. Remove the anchor bolt at the base of the battery using a 1/2" socket.

6. Disconnect the battery terminals. Lift battery out (with a battery carrier strap). Save the blanket to slip on the new battery.

Cleanup and Installation

7. Clean the terminals by dipping in a cup filled with baking soda and warm water. Use a battery terminal cleaning tool, wire brush to remove the corrosion or a tiny screw driver to scrape with. Rinse with water and clean up the tray with a towel.

8. Install blanket on new battery. Note the position of the notches was down. Lift into car. I slid battery as much as possible towards fender. Reinstall retaining bolt.

9. I installed felt washers ($1) to prevent corrosion on the terminals

10. Reinstall terminals. Apply some grease or Vaseline to the tops of the terminals.

11. Reinstall air cleaner box. Carefully line it up and push down Make sure to seat it completely when you reinstall it.

12. Reinstall filter; cover. Make sure clips are on tight.

Where is the cabin air filter located on a 2002 Chevy Suburban?

Under the pasengers side dash, look under the glove compartment, at the bottom of heater unit. There you'll find a small hex head screw that holds a plastic strap in place. This will release the filter retainer. There should be 2 filters, one visible, the other runs behind the visible one, vertically. Both should be replaced.
