Which sources produce alternating current?
AC generators, powerplants etc produce alternating currents.
How do you replace the alternator on a 2002 Subaru Outback?
This is a very straightforward operation, same as any other car. Disconnect battery, remove shrouding, unbolt the alternator, bot new alternator on, tighten belts, and reconnect the battery. The alternator is easily accessible.
How do you replace alternator in infinity Q45 1999?
there should be two major bolts to the alternator one to losse'n up the belts and the other to release the alternator to the mount. loosen the belts first and then remove the belts.. after this it should be easy to replace the alternator
Where is the Voltage regulator in 1995 intrepid alternator?
The voltage regulator on a Dodge Intrepid is inside the engine computer.

How do you replace the alternator belt on your Ford Aerostar?
Most cars and trucks today have what is called a serpentine belt which runs most accessories. They are very dependable and usually easy to replace. To decide if your belt needs replacing, simply look at the grooved side of the belt to see if it is cracking badly. A couple of cracks every 3 inches is normal, but if you see cracks every 1-2 inches I would recommend that you replace it. On most cars and trucks the procedure is basically the same. First off, get the correct belt by bringing your cars VIN number to the parts store(located on your cars dashboard) the parts store may need it. If there are two choices, get them both so you can complete the repair. Once you have the correct belt, take a minute to review how the belt runs across the pulleys and also check to see if your car/ truck has a underhood diagram of belt routing in case you need it. In most cases you will need a socket wrench or breaker bar with either a 3/8" and /or 1/2" head on it and possibly a short extension. Some models may require a wrench of these similar sizes. Now that you are ready to go to work, you will need to find the spring loaded tensioner which is generally located near the top of the belt path; it usually has a shinny pulley on it. Look at the tensioner and insert the tool into it and apply opposing pressure to release the belt. Now, simply install the new belt making sure it fits into the grooves on all the pulleys. Start the car to check it and you are done and you saved yourelf some money!
I might add that it would be wise to check if the tensioner rotates easily. It often wears out its bearing, and then will freeze up and break the belt. If the belt is bad, then I'd replace the tensioner also.
How do you replace the alternator on a 1995 Chevy Caprice Classic?
You have changed the alternator on your 1994 Mitsubishi galant where does the yellow wire connect?
I have a 1994 mitsubishi mirage and a yellow wire has broken off the alternator i have no idea where it goes. I need help my car will no longer go.
How do you know if alt belt or battery are bad?
Check the belt tension. It should deflect no more than 1/4" dead center of the belt. Start the engine and check the output of the alternator at the battery posts. It should be putting out 13.5-16 volts. Any less or more and it is bad. It that all checks out then the battery needs to be load tested at any auto parts store.
Will a bad battery ruin a new alternator?
Yes, it can. A completely dead battery can blow the alternator diodes, at least in older systems - I am not so certain about newer systems, whether or not they are protected against this annoyance. In any case, the alternator is not generally designed to charge a battery from scratch, but just to keep it charged during normal use. The alternator will not be completely ruined, but it will not function until the diodes are replaced.
engine seized, starter not working, ignition switch, chek fuses ALL!
There could be several possible causes, so the issue should be checked out by someone who knows what s/he is doing. Onepossible cause could be related to the primary/high idle speed settings. Most vehicles are programmed to hold the fuel system idle speed setting at a slightly higher RPM[revolutions per second] when the engine is first started, to prevent rough idle, or a "cold stall," and some also have a choke, and/or other method of providing a "richer" mixtureduring this time. This rich, high idle settting provides resistance to stalling until the combustion chamber becomes warm enough for the engine to idle smoothly, which for most well tuned engines is just a few seconds. After this time, the idle setting should return to the lower, normal [warm engine] idle speed setting. An alternator must turn at a certain minimum RPM to generate enough output to charge the battery, and to prevent the warning [idiot] light from turning on. IF the normal idle speed setting is too low when your engine returns to the "normal" idle speed, then the idle RPM may be too low to cause the idiot light to turn off. Again, there are several possible causes, so have your entire charging system checked out by someone who knows what they are doing. Most mainstream auto parts chain stores [for example, Advance, Autozone, O'Rielly] have the diagonostic/testing equipment to test charging systems, and they do it for FREE.
How do you replace the alternator on a 1995 Cadillac STS?
The best way is to remove the fan assy. and remove the drive belt . dissconnect the battery and remove it. the hard part is removing the rear bracket retainer bolts from the block then the ft. retainer bolt. in fromt on the alternator. slide alternator tword radiator dissconnect wireing and bracket and remove...reverse order to install....aprox time 3-5 hours if you are a backyard tech......good luck....auto zone has them for 105.00
Check for a bad fusable link at alternator
not always usally makes an noise close to a rattle or knocking hence harmonic.use a broom stick or hose to use as a listening device to locate the exact place of your noise could be starter sticking in(ect...)
What should the output of an automobile alternator be?
Generally, an automotive alternator is considered to be "good" if the output voltage is in the range between 12 1/2 volts and a maximum of 16 volts.
Anything below 12 1/2 volts probably will not adequately charge the battery, and voltages above 16 volts can "cook" the water out of the electrolyte, and cause damage to the battery.
How do you change an alternator belt on a 89 Honda civic?
1) Remove left front wheel
2) Remove the plastic cover on the front side of the wheel well- 3 plastic screws and a round press in connector.
3) The outermost belt is the power steering belt. Loosen the nut on the top mounting bolt (14mm) on the power steering pump. Look way down on the other side of the pump and you'll see the clamp down bolt (12mm) for the pump. There is a curved slot the bolt passes through. Loosen the bolt and push the pump towards the firewall. Remove the belt.
4) The middle belt is the AC belt. Between the crank pulley and the AC compressor pulley there is a tensioner pulley. Reach up from underneath with a 14mm wrench and loosen the bolt in the middle of the pulley. If you look closely, you'll see a bolt that runs through the bracket holding the pulley.
From the top, locate the head of the pulley adjuster bolt. It's hidden way down in a small square opening near the top left side of the timing belt cover. Use extensions and a 10mm socket to loosen the bolt until you can remove the belt.
5) Loosen lower alternator mounting nut- 14mm. Loosen upper clamp down bolt on the alternator bracket (12mm?). It runs through the curved slot in the bracket used for adjusting the belt.
Assemble in the reverse order and adjust the belt tensions. The power steering pump has a square indent for a 1/2" breaker bar or ratchet. Use this to apply the needed tension.
Replace all your belts at the same time. Buy your belts from the Honda dealer. The aftermarket belts I got were almost too long.
How do you replace the alternator on a 1989 Pontiac Sunbird?
The only hard part is that you've got to get a big crescent wrench or pipe wrench onto the square extrusion on the belt tensioner and relieve the pressure so that you can slip the belt off (and back onto) the alternator. Once you've done that (the tensioner is one of the small pulleys on the side of the engine that the belt is wrapped around - it's very firm but WILL move with enough pressure; WATCH your knuckles!!! If you slip it can hurt like heck!)it's a simple matter of pulling the wiring plug off and undoing the bolts that hold the alternator.
There should be a belt/pulley diagram sticker on the radiator support near the front of the car that will show you the belt routing, make sure that the belt goes back on the right way around the proper pulleys! It can take a minute to make sure you've got it wound round everything the right way (and again, watch your knuckles with that tensioner!) Good luck!
I'M NOT A MECHANIC , but I was looking at the engine wiring schematic and noticed that there is an electrical connection from the crank position sensor to the ignition control module (ICM) and also an electrical connection from the ICM to your ignition coil and electrical connections from the ICM to your powertrain control module. My Haynes repair manual states " it is a delecate and relatively expensive electronic component" - check to see if there is positive battery voltage to terminal # 8 with the key in the on/run position, but engine not started, using a volt ohm meter. It is mounted between your radiator support frame and your battery.
What noise do you hear when the speedometer is going bad?
Sometimes a clicking or grinding Sometimes speedometer needle will fluctuate
just bcuz you brought it new doesn't mean it can not be defective take it back to the seller and have it checked this problem happens very often because alternators are not new anymore they are remain parts
How many volts does a 7.2 volt charger put out?
Without knowing the maximum output current it was designed to produce it isn't possible to say exactly how much voltage a charger produces. Also, was it intended to give a slow or a fast charge? In general all that can be said is that the output voltage of a battery charger must always be slightly higher than the nominal voltage of the battery it was designed to charge. This is for the simple reason that it won't be able to put any charge into the battery unless the charger's "on-load" voltage is higher than the battery's voltage. For the same reason, a charger which can deliver a high output current (amps) will need a higher "on-load" output voltage than a charger which can only deliver a low current. Also, when it is switched on but is not connected to a battery, the output voltage of any charger will always be higher than when it is doing its job of charging a battery. That voltage is called the "no-load" voltage. Assuming the battery being charged is a standard low-voltage type, of less than, say, 24 volts DC, it is quite safe, using a standard electrician's voltmeter, to measure the load and no-load voltages of the charger as described above.
