Are you certain that the alternator is connected properly? Is the keyswitch working properly? Does your alternator have an internal or external regulator. How old is the battery? If it's about 3 years old, especially if you live where you have a real winter, about 3 years is all you can expect out of a battery, and it will just collapse and die. Auto Zone will check your battery out for free if you take it in. I wouldn;t have just replaced the alternator unless I knew that was the problem. Phil

Coolant could be low, causing the engine to overheat. There are also a number of things that could cause overheating and the engine to shut off. Plus the ford tempo was an unsound car from the get go/
Make sure all of the wires on the coil are tight and if they are take it to a speedo shop for tach repair.

mine does the same thing i suspect vaccuum line somewhere, co adjustment or aic valve and/or its vaccuum fittings...the abs kicks in that takes more vac too i think not too sure so that could be a factor...

Calipers are used with disc brakes to hold the brake pads on both sides of the disc brake and to apply them against the disc when the brakes are applied.

It's the same for all internal combustion engines.
When gasoline burns inside the combustion chamber, it produces carbon dioxide and water vapor. The water vapor is usually hot enough that you don't see it, but when the weather is cold, and while the exhaust is still cold, some of the water vapor will condense together with other water vapor molecules, producing a visible mist that looks like white smoke out the tailpipe.
It's normal.
On the other hand, once the engine is warmed up, if the white smoke continues and if you notice that the engine is using a lot of oil, it may be that the rings and/or valve stem seals are leaking, allowing oil to enter the combustion chamber. When that happens you'll get some oil burning, which may look whitish-blue.
