Your car won't start The engine is turning over but won't start What can it be?
there could be loads of problems:-
Fuel shortage
C.D.I problem (Capacitive discharge ignition only)
king lead damage
air intake blocked
choke rongly adjusted
ring the AA or another motering organisation :P
The battery may be too weak to start the engine. Jump start it or replace the battery.
It could be that your choke is not kicking on right away. Once the iginition is turned on for a bit, the choke kicks on allowing your vehicle to then start up no problem. Maybe a bad wire to the the choke or something of that matter. I am currently having the same problem and I'm trying to figure out what is exactly wrong with it. Hope it helps you out a bit. PEACE
Dirty fuel filters are a huge cause of this especially on diesels, I have replaced 3 this week all with the same symptoms. also check that the fuel pump is working. if it is trying to turn over, but it can't, you either have a bad starter,or a seized engine
Your 1995 f150 wont start but there is power could it be the starter if so how do you change it?
First You Have To Check The S Terminal On The Starter Or Solenoid To See If Is 12 Volts When You Turn The Switch Into A Runn Position If You Have 12 Volts Then You need To Replace The Starter Motor You Need To Go Under The Truck You Well See The Starter Right Ther Is Realy Symple To Replace Two Or Three Bolts & Two Cables All Depends If Is A V6 Or V8
My wife and I purchased a Sebring (1998) that had the same problem. We were told it is the chip in the key. The key needs to be replaced.
What could be the problem if gauges go down and car dies and won't start unless jumped?
Sounds like your charging system isn't working and you are running off battery power until the battery goes dead. Have the battery and the charging system tested to determine what part is at fault.
If it's not cranking at all, you probably forgot to connect a wire, or you replaced the wiring incorrectly.
More than likely the alternator is bad ....
Without doubt something has interrupted your fuel flow to the injectors. Don't be insulted. The fuel system consists of Fuel Tank (empty?), Fuel Guage Dashboard Indicator (Not functioning or miscalibrated?) Fuel Lift Pump (Low Pressure Output?), Fuel lines (clogged?), Fuel Filter (Extremely dirty?), Fuel filter housing (leaking?) Fuel filter water detector (Not functioning and therefore not notifying that your fuel filter is getting ready to send water toward your injectors?) Injector Pump (not sending high pressure fuel to the injectors) and finally, Injectors (clogged?) I have experienced the exact problem. My Fuel Guage does not indicate correctly (The fuel tank holds 35 gal. When I have 5 gallons remaining, the tells me that I have .4 of my fuel left.) Thus, I was driving down the highway and ran out of fuel when the fuel guage said I had 1/3 of a tank left. Other times it has failed to start after changing the fuel filter and after draining water from the fuel filter water drain. Each of those times the not starting was attributeable to a lack of fuel being delivered to the injectors, and was cured by bleeding the air from the high pressure injector fuel lines. (It is only necessary to slightly open one of the injector lines on the head until fuel begins spurting out.) Unfortunately you can't operate the key AND see the top of the engine at the same time.
Sounds like a loose connection in the keyswitch wiring harness.
Generally the problem is either a defective neutral safety switch or a bad ignition switch (not ignition key lock).
IT COULD BE YOUR BATTERY BUT I WOULD CLEAN AND CHECK THE BATTERY CABLES FOR A BAD CONNECTION. SOME AUTO PART STORES WILL TEST YOUR BATTERY FOR YOU FOR FREE. ALSO A GOOD WAY TO TEST IF IT COULD BE YOUR ALTERNATOR IS, IF YOU CAN BOOST IT TO GET IT STARTED THEN ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS REMOVE ONE OF THE CABLES WHILE IT IS RUNNING AND IF STAYS RUNNING THEN ALTERNATOR IS OK. THESE ARE THE MOST COMMON REASONS FOR YOUR PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE I HELPED A LIL BIT. JEAN
What are the signs of a transmission filter going bad?
some of the classic signs of a tranny going bad is leaking, slipping in and out of gear delayed starts from a stop where the car raises rpms before it takes off and shaking or jerking when its going into gear
What would cause a 1989 GMC Jimmy to not start up until it has cranked over about 6 to 8 times?
Try turning on the key for a few seconds to let fuel pressure build THEN try the starter. If it's just taking a few seconds to build fuel pressure you might solve the problem by not being in such a hurry. If the engine starts right up when you do that it could indicate a bad pressure regulator or a weak fuel pump.
Answer First, be absolutely certain that the battery is ok. Try a jump-start using some good cables and someone else's vehicle battery with a good charge. If the starter still won't engage and you're hearing the clicking of the starter solenoid then just about the only thing left is the starter. If you haven't replaced a starter before, either have someone do it for you or get a friend to help who has a little experience. It isn't a difficult process but there are a few steps that demand experience.
Be sure that both ends of both battery cables are clean and tight.
Your mosquito magnet defender won't start no light no nothing any ideas Power is good to the unit?
Does it have an internal fuse?
Replaced fuel pump car won't start feels like it isstarving for gas?
Did you check the fule filter If it is clogged the best of pumps wont help
Why wont your Renault kangoo start you just changed the timing belt?
If it started previouslt then something disconnected (sensor etc) or timing is wrong
Jump the car or get a new battery?
If the battery is defective get a new battery. If you just left something on and ran it down, charge the battery and keep going.
How do know if the valve stem is bad for a car tire?
To check for a leak, apply soapy water to the stem and look for bubbles.
