2004 Chevy Monte Carlo cranks but won't start?
check the battery ground post make sure its tight, then give it a try if it don't , check the starter if it has a week cranking noise it my be your starter that dos not have enough cranking power to turn the engine. also make sure that it is sending fuel to your injector realigns by pushing into the valve that it's located close to the power steering pump. if it has fuel you my want to check the spark of the coils take them out and take them to advance or auto zone they have a coil tester.
Maybe this thread could help you out:
Why would a car with a fully charged battery have dim lights and be unable to start
AnswerAnother possibility to add to the last post which was very good,(disregard if all electrical circuit tests check out correctly) a possible bad neutral sefety switch. This will not allow the car to even crank if not in park or neutral. If the switch is shorted or bad you will have a no crank condition. AnswerIf it isn't cranking like you say, you need to find where the power is stopping. Is it after the ignition switch to the battery, from the battery to the starter? **This is not a lack of spark or lack of fuel problem**. if all the power is getting to the starter, you'll have to look deeper into this being a mechanical problem. You'll need to manually turn the engine over by hand. It could be a seized motor or a seized pulley preventing the motor from spinning. It may also be a defective starter if you bought a cheap on aka autozone electrical parts. Answerhave you checked your starter relay also the fly wheel gear could be striped and you are not getting a connection between the two gears. AnswerDoes your car have a factory alarm? Sometimes the factory alarm system is not yet disengaged and the cutoff switch hasn't activated yet. This will also not allow the car to start. You'll need to reset the alarm then it will kick over. Why would a car make a clicking noise when you try to start it?
dead battery..not enough charge
AnswerA loose connection can also cause the clicking, check the cables. If the battery is years or older, replace it. The alternater may not be charging the battery or there may be a parasitic draw draining the battery.Answer
It could be anything electrical. Most likely, if the battery is charged, and the cables are tight, it could be the starter. More commonly the solenoid. Try tapping the solenoid with the car off, and try starting it. If after this, the car starts.. then you need to check into replacing the solenoid, or the entire starter motor, if the solenoid is connected to the starter.
What if the car loses all power when you put the key into the ignition Any suggestions?
Sounds like a bad ignition switch. note: the actual "switch" is different from the lock cylinder part. The lock cylinder turns the switch.
Replaced head gaskets on a 1999 5.7 engine Chevrolet timing is correct starts but wont stay running?
My initial thought would be a vacuume leak. Check all hose connections first. If everything there is good check the fuel injectors gaskets. Then if that doesnt fix it, run a leak down test to see if there is a leak in the intake gaskets.
1994 Ford Explorer with starting problems If you hold the key in the start position it will run?
That sure sounds like an ignition switch problem... not just the tumblers, the whole switch.
I have the same problem on a 2002 dodge ram. Any ideas?
Your battery is dead, or at least dying. Same happened to me. Probably a bad cell inside ( farm store changed source to cheaper - last about a year!!) Charging will get you started and running but won't last...one more start... maybe not!! Check owners manual - red light is a "bolt" , meaning electrical system. Batt doesn't have enough voltage to start.
P1362 code indicates a faulty top dead center sensor. It could be the sensor or a distributor problem. There is also the off chance that it is related to the timing belt.
If 1990 Civic Si turns over why will it not start?
There's so many things that can cause this problem. First, check if the fuel pump is working. You can do this by turning the ignition in on position and listen if you hear a humming sound by the gas tank.(or thru the gas tank spout.) If it's working, check the plugs if there's spark. Remove plug No. 1, connect it back to the wire, ground it and let someone crank the engine. If you don't see a spark, you might have a bad distributor...It could be the cover, rotor, coil or the igniter.....You have two options, it either try to repair the old one or get a new or rebuilt distributor.......Before you get a new dist, check the old coil for its continuity, if it's ok that means its the igniter....It will be cheaper for you to repair than to replace it with a new one.............Hope this will help you.....
1995 corvette starts then shuts off after seconds?
Sounds like it's not getting enough fuel or a filter is clogged. Try having your fuel ejection flushed and fuel filter changed!
My 1985 Ford Laser ghia wont start Could it be the coil?
Yes
Check to see if vehicle is getting spark
Just put in a new battery for my jeep and it still won't start what is the issue?
It's kind of hard to troubleshoot your starting problems since there is more than a battery inolved in starting an engine. There could be several issues involved, but without the symptoms it is difficult to pinpoint one. You might want to check the fuel system to see if the engine is getting fuel; the electrical system to ensure the spark plugs are firing; the ignition system to ensure there are no loose/broken wires, etc.- You get the point why it is difficult to troubleshoot without the symptoms. "The jeep still won't start" is not enough information.
When lights and radio come on can it be the starter?
I had this happen on an 88 GMC Suburban. Took a while to find it. Turned out to be a ground wire under the dash
I changed the transmission fluid in my 94 ford explorer now won't start What could be the problem?
Try to start it on neutral. if it stars then you have a faulty neutral safety switch.
Something's wrong with it and it needs fixing.... a car that works properly won't do that
Why would a 300zx not start in cold weather?
Clean the mass air inflow sensor. You may also have some engine sensors that are borderline working and won't cause a check engine code but are feeding the engine control computer the skewed readings. If you have a check engine light on- go repair that problem. LOL
Check for a weak or dead battery Check for loose or corroded battery cables Could be a seized engine Could be a bad starter or bad starter solenoid
Canadian tire price of alternator 1999 sunfire gt?
Well, it looks like you need to know the price of either tires, or an alternator for your GT.
Tire shops run sales all the time. The best bet is to drop in and talk to them about what you need and how much you want to spend.
Alternators tend to be a bit expensive, at least here in the US. I think I paid about $85 for one about a year and a half ago. Best bet here, is to check the major parts house's on line sites for prices. Check several, as they will vary.
FriPilot
You might want to check the starter-it has start contacts, that increases the voltage for start
Why is fuel not getting up to the injectors if they pump runs and pumps through the fuel filter?
Fuel pressure may be lower than required amount.
First of all the vehicle must have a manual or (stick shift) transmission. Then you will... 1.)Turn the key on as you would normally and leave it ON. 2.)Push the clutch pedal to the floor and hold it there. 3.)While holing the clutch put the transmission in 2nd gear. 4.)Have someone else push the vehicle to 10mph or as close as you can get. 5.)Release the clutch pedal and push the gas pedal 1/2". The vehicle will shake a bit and will come to life this is when you need to depress the clutch again as to not stall the vehicle. Easy. 5 steps. Just make sure you have enough room to drive the car. ALSO** you can substitute step 4 if you can get the vehicle to roll downhill
What would cause a car to start then die and then not start again for a few hours?
Ecm, control module Pukenstein@aol.com Also quite possibly an ignition control module. This is famous in most Ford and GM vehicles. Chrysler vehicles tend to have a problem with the "pick-up" assembly or the little black disc under the distributer cap. if it is fuel injected try checking the fuel pressure regulator Chrysler vehicles tend to have a problem with the "pick-up" assembly or the little black disc under the distributer cap.
Where is the starter located on a Mazda 626?
I had a heck of a time finding it in my 1988. Keep in mind that the engine sits in there sideways, so the "back" of the engine, or flywheel is actually on the driver's side (the front is on the passenger side). The starter for any vehicle is at the flywheel. Raise the vehicle and crawl underneath from the front on the driver's side. Look for the oil filter. Slightly above and to your left (toward the driver's side wheel well) is the starter. It looks to me like you'll need to drain the motor oil and remove the oil filter to have room to remove the starter.
Some of the possible causes that I can think of right now include:
