How do you fix a 1993 Dodge Caravan V6 3.3 liter that won't start?
You have to figure out first, is it getting spark? Is it getting fuel? Have you disconnected a spark plug wire and cranked engine? Have you checked fuel pressure? . Start there first and get back. Need more info to help you.
Your car makes a squeaking noise it starts when you start the car and when you accelerate?
the most likely cause would be an improperly tensioned serpentine belt
Pontiac Montana only starts when the engine is cold?
check and see if your thermostat is stuck open(top of engine block). depending where you live, water could be slushy or frozen in your engine.
Why 1994 V6 4 Runner no start fuel ok no spark?
It could be the timing belt jumps (wrong timing spark) or the faulty pressure regulator (to much fuel ro to little)
Engine don't want to turn over?
The alternator drive belt ( often called the fan belt) is not tight enough because it is worn or stretched or incorrectly adjusted . This makes it slip on the pulleys . It happens when there is a heavy load on the belt, such as when the alternator is trying to recharge the battery after starting the engine , or when the power steering pump is working hard as you turn the steering wheel with the car moving slowly. This fault is more common on diesel vehicles since the heavy duty batteries place a greater load on the alternator.
What does it mean when your car shuts off while driving and then does not start up again?
i should check 1st of all battery if battery is good then i should check gasoline from car other wise i should gasoline pump is working properly?
..... Few things, make sure its in gear (P). If it turns over (clicks and you hear something sound like it spins then stops) then check the Battery Terminals. If you see a kind of crust around the positive and negative posts you need to take a wire brush and brush it all away. CAUTION though, its battery acid and inhaling/swallowing it doesnt feel so good (I used to work for AAA as a battery truck). look away or wear sunglasses/goggles, dont breathe and keep scrubbing untill you see it all gone away. if you dont wanna do this and find out that wasnt a problem, tell someone to wiggle the POSITIVE wire and you or someone else try to start it. if it works, all you need to do is clean the post/wires. make sure you take the positive plug off the positive terminal post and clean the inside. then take some petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and lube it up, put it back on, tighten it, and you should be good to go
Where are the bolts located for the starter on a 1991 Nissan Sentra?
I have a 94 Nissan sentra but it's the same body style. My starter is located right below all the air intake hoses. the easiest way to find the starter is to take the airbox stuff out and then follow the ground wire from the negative end of the battery (the only wire leading off the negative end) to where it attatches to the transmission. The bolt that that wire attatches to is one of two bolts that attatches the starter to the transmission.
Why won't the car start unless the hood is banged and now it doesn't start at all?
Check the battery first. Do your interior lights come on ? Check your battery cables . If they are rusty or have some white corrosion on them, clean them with a wire brush and reattach them. You could have a blocked fuel line. There are bunches of things.
What does it mean when your car wont start and you replaced the starter?
Your alternator is not charging the battery. This could be caused by alot of reasons, such as; 1- the alternator, or built-in voltage regulator is bad. 2 - Your belt that drives the alternator is loose, of glazed. 3 - one of the cables, black(-) or red (+), is loose, or not tight at the battery, or the starter, or alternator. First, with a volt meter. Check battery voltage with engine off, and all accessories off, it should read around 12.5 -13v. Now start engine, and see if voltage output increases - say 14 - 14.5 volts, then put on all accessories with engine running, and should still read around 14v......, , This will tell you the alternator is good.....Tom.
Where is the starter solenoid 2000 ford excursion?
The starter solenoid is located (in a 1989 mercury grand marquis), as you raise the hood, on the left hand side of the engine compartment. Just behind the battery. (you should be standing right in front of the passenger side headlight.)
Dodge caravan won't start just clicks when turning key?
Chrysler vehicles have a clicking sound when the starter is bad. It must be replaced, Sometimes they can be lighty smacked with a blunt object and will work for a while but will still need replaced..
try looking at your battery terminals if they are loose or broken
What should you if a 1981 Buick Regal turns over but it will not start?
Start with basics. Check that it is getting good strong blue spark by removing a spark plug and installing a spark tester, follow manufacturer instructions. Check that it is getting fuel. If both of these are occurung you should locate a shop manual for the vehicle and fpllow the no start troubleshooting procedures.
the most common cause by far is the coil pack, its easy to change and a fairly cheap component - its certainly worth a try if the management light isn't on. if you want to be sure have the ecu fault code read as other possible causes are cam and crank shaft sensors. good luck.
Why our 2002 Nissan won't start at all?
needs new battery or fuse, needs new starter, reprogram or replace keys, reset NATS codes, needs new fuel pump, needs fuel in tank, needs new wiring, needs new ignition switch, needs new engine
1994 ford aerostar starting problems?
If the engine cranks over, but will not start or is difficult to start, it's either fuel or ignition. Too many possible causes to list. A repair shop which can extract engine codes and accurately diagnose problem. Simple things to try: 1. check clogged air filter 2. check clogged fuel filter 3. check worn out plugs, cap, rotor 4. examine vacuum hoses for leaks
When you try to start your car why would the positive battery post spark and nothing happen?
The battery terminal is loose at the positive post, or the cable wires are loose at the positive terminal. Remove the terminal, clean everything properly and then reassemble and tighten securely, and it will no longer spark. Your vehicle should start. A light spritz of WD-40 or the like will deter corrosion. It's cheaper than the little anti-corrosion terminal pads they sell at the auto parts stores, but feel free to grab a pair of them when you have a moment. Then when time permits, pull your terminals (positive gets pulled first and put back on last), clean them, and put on the pads before reassembly.
GOT IT FIXED TODAY. WOUND UP THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS BAD. NOT THE KEY AND CYLINDER COMMONLY REFERED TO AS THE IGNITION SWITCH BUT THE SWITCH DOWN ON THE COLUMN UNDER THE DASH THAT THE TURNING OF THE KEY PUSHES WITH A ROD. I ASKED 2 MECHANICS, 4 PARTS STORES AND THE SERVICE DEPT AT THE LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND THE ALL TOLD ME THE KEY AND CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. $179.00 LATER MY CAR STILL DID EXACTLY WHAT IT DID TO BEGIN WITH. SO I PUT ON A $21.39 SWITCH THAT WAS MOUNTED ON TOP OF THE STEERING COLUMN UNDER THE DASH AND WAS SO HARD TO GET TO THE THE WHOLE COLUMN HAD TO COME OUT TO REPLACE IT. HOPE THIS MAY HELP SOMEONE IN THE FUTURE BUT I HOPE YOU NEVER HAVE TO DO IT. IT IS A PAIN.
When 1994 ford ranger good battery but wont start?
Sounds like either loose or corroded battery terminal or bad fuseable like
Maxima engine cranks but no start?
Check the coil packs. And I know this sounds not normal, but check for fuel in the tank. Check the fuel line and filters. I am assuming that it sounds normal when it turns over. If not, check the timing belt.
Make sure that when you attempt to start, the security light doesn't come on; if it is it might be a nats problem, meaning you inserted a wrong key in the ignition causing the ecu to lock.
If you can give me a bit more info, I could hopefully be more specific.
Why is your car dragging when turning over?
Your timing could be off, Your starter could be going bad, or you could have a low battery. The battery is the simplest to start with. You could go to Auto Zone and they will check your battery for you. Also talk to them about your starter and your timing. Low battery, faulty alternator, worn stater, corroded connection
I am not sure but if you find out PLEASE POST it here I am having the exact same problem and was looking for an answer also!!! It will start sometimes I have had it in the shop several times and it starts perfect for them almost everytime.. they have ran diagonistic test on it and it shows NOTHING is wrong I have gotten a new key with the same code in it (cost 47.00) not the problem, I put a new starter on it they told me that was the problem NOPE it still did it... I put a new battery in it NOPE.. New spark plugs NOPE.. New ignition switch NOPE... I have tried almost everything and still nothing!!! It has to be something simple but NO ONE can seem to find it ... I LOVE my car it is one of the BEST I have ever owned as far as a GREAT riding vehicle just this crazy security problem!!! THANK YOU
I had the EXACT same problems with my 1995 LeSabre. My mechanic disconnected my remote starter and the automatic door/trunk locks, and it starts up fine now--ALL THE TIME! I cannot use my remote starter anymore, and I have to unlock my doors and trunk with a key, but the car starts up perfectly every time! My repair bill was only $65.00!
I am currently having the same problem with my 95 LeSabre. I have been told to replace the ignition lock cylinder because the problem could be in the wires running to the VATS system from the ignition. I have also been told it could be the VATS system itself. Well I found a site that give you the ability to bypass the system!! I haven't tried it yet but think I'm going to. Here is the link:

What are the signs that an alternator is going bad?
Here are some symptoms of a bad alternator:
Step 1
One of the immediate things that you may notice is that the lights on your dash and inside your car dim at random times and then seem to work again. When this happens you may notice that your engine acts strangely too. This is one of the classic warning signs of a bad alternator. This is because the alternator is beginning to fail and is intermittently not putting out enough juice to power the car.
Step 2
You may find that you have to repeatedly jump start your car after turning it off. This in and of itself isn't one of the warning signs of a bad alternator, but it is very indicative. As long as your battery is in good condition and isn't too old then this problem generally points to your alternator. This is because the alternator isn't providing enough electricity to properly charge the battery and because of this it runs down while you are driving and doesn't have enough power to restart your car. Don't ignore a problem like this or you will prematurely wear out your battery or become stranded someplace.
Step 3
A noisy alternator is another warning sign that it is going bad. This is because the bearings inside go out and you can usually hear this when your hood is open. The sound will be coming from the area where your serpentine belt and alternator are and will sound like a sort of rattling spinning noise. It will be loud enough to make you wonder if something is wrong.
Step 4
If your engine is stalling completely, that is one of the signs that your alternator is almost completely dead. Make sure that you don't drive your car in this condition and have a mechanic or technician check it right away. This means that your alternator is so shot that it can't even keep the car running and is one of the last warning signs you will get before you can't even start your vehicle.
I have 1997 interpid sport the car Crank but it won't start?
The engine needs fuel, compression and spark the run. You are missing one of those.
Why would a car start and then die and not start again until cooled?
i had this problem on a older ford it was the module in the bottom of the distributor and the same problem in a newer car and it was the module under the coil packs The last answer is correct. Although it could also be the coil pack. If the resistance is off a little bit, it will get worse as the vehicle heats up. It will then kick the auto shut down relay and your done till it resets. Check the module and the coil pack. Depending on the kind of vehicle you have it could be either or both if it's a GM car from the 1980s or 1990s the fuel filter can get clogged to the point where the engine will stall after it's warmed up even tho the fuel pump etc etc are all okay. it does this because the filter is is mounted low and it's filling up due to gravity when the car is off. this often happens on Firebirds/Camaros and can be quite a problem. try changing the fuel filter. ps The diagnostic computer will often fail to see the problem
How do you know if the starter needs to be replaced on a 1993 Nissan Altima?
Take the steering column housing off (usually held by 4 screws from the bottom) and remove the starter cap from the back of the ignition cylinder. In a Nissan, the ignition cylinder usually has a T shaped pin which turns the starter. if you can start your vehicle by turning the starter cap with a screw driver, you probably don't have an issue with the starter.
