either the ignition coil is bad or the crank for the camfhsaft position sensor is not touching the sensor i jsut had to do that to my car so check both of those

First thing to have checked is your battery! See if it is fully charged and holding a charge. Check simple things before moving to more difficult. Check your glow plugs ie( heating plug) weather its working or not if it fails u 'll face this problem. u can check with battery and a wire with passing the current. if the spark is produced in glow plug it works or it does not . any quires let me know

It could be the wrong key...not inserted completely (or inserted to far if the lock is damaged)...the steering wheel lock could be exterting extra pressure on the lock (try moving the steering wheel a bit to see if that helps)

I'm having the same problem with a 1987 ford E350 with a 460 auto trans. I just replaced the engine with a used one from a 1988 ford F250 with a 460 4wd auto trans. and now the starter won't release from the flywheel and it is making a bad grinding sound. I searched around on the net a little bit and it looks like all the 460 from 84-91 list the same part numbers for the starter, and flywheel. my old starter had some movement in the shaft and sounded like it was grinding a little so, I replaced the it with a new one from Auto Zone. And it still dose the same thing. There is no adjustments to be made with a ford starter like a GM starer. It should just bolt right up and that's it. So now I'm not sure what to do. I don't work on fords that much so if you have any ideas please let me know.

If it's a diesel (would be nice if you said what model and engine) and its starting hard, plug in the block heater for a few minutes before you try to start.

Dead battery. Recharge it and see if it will start. If not, remove the battery and go have it tested.

spray wd40 on all electrics inc inside distributor cap plugs and ht leads , if no luck get a tin of cold start and spray directly into engone intake , check also foe water in fuel if damp this usually works

You have to figure out first, is it getting spark? Is it getting fuel? Have you disconnected a spark plug wire and cranked engine? Have you checked fuel pressure? . Start there first and get back. Need more info to help you.

the most likely cause would be an improperly tensioned serpentine belt

check and see if your thermostat is stuck open(top of engine block). depending where you live, water could be slushy or frozen in your engine.

It could be the timing belt jumps (wrong timing spark) or the faulty pressure regulator (to much fuel ro to little)

The alternator drive belt ( often called the fan belt) is not tight enough because it is worn or stretched or incorrectly adjusted . This makes it slip on the pulleys . It happens when there is a heavy load on the belt, such as when the alternator is trying to recharge the battery after starting the engine , or when the power steering pump is working hard as you turn the steering wheel with the car moving slowly. This fault is more common on diesel vehicles since the heavy duty batteries place a greater load on the alternator.

i should check 1st of all battery if battery is good then i should check gasoline from car other wise i should gasoline pump is working properly?

..... Few things, make sure its in gear (P). If it turns over (clicks and you hear something sound like it spins then stops) then check the Battery Terminals. If you see a kind of crust around the positive and negative posts you need to take a wire brush and brush it all away. CAUTION though, its battery acid and inhaling/swallowing it doesnt feel so good (I used to work for AAA as a battery truck). look away or wear sunglasses/goggles, dont breathe and keep scrubbing untill you see it all gone away. if you dont wanna do this and find out that wasnt a problem, tell someone to wiggle the POSITIVE wire and you or someone else try to start it. if it works, all you need to do is clean the post/wires. make sure you take the positive plug off the positive terminal post and clean the inside. then take some petroleum jelly (Vaseline) and lube it up, put it back on, tighten it, and you should be good to go

I have a 94 Nissan sentra but it's the same body style. My starter is located right below all the air intake hoses. the easiest way to find the starter is to take the airbox stuff out and then follow the ground wire from the negative end of the battery (the only wire leading off the negative end) to where it attatches to the transmission. The bolt that that wire attatches to is one of two bolts that attatches the starter to the transmission.

Check the battery first. Do your interior lights come on ? Check your battery cables . If they are rusty or have some white corrosion on them, clean them with a wire brush and reattach them. You could have a blocked fuel line. There are bunches of things.

Your alternator is not charging the battery. This could be caused by alot of reasons, such as; 1- the alternator, or built-in voltage regulator is bad. 2 - Your belt that drives the alternator is loose, of glazed. 3 - one of the cables, black(-) or red (+), is loose, or not tight at the battery, or the starter, or alternator. First, with a volt meter. Check battery voltage with engine off, and all accessories off, it should read around 12.5 -13v. Now start engine, and see if voltage output increases - say 14 - 14.5 volts, then put on all accessories with engine running, and should still read around 14v......, , This will tell you the alternator is good.....Tom.

The starter solenoid is located (in a 1989 mercury grand marquis), as you raise the hood, on the left hand side of the engine compartment. Just behind the battery. (you should be standing right in front of the passenger side headlight.)

Chrysler vehicles have a clicking sound when the starter is bad. It must be replaced, Sometimes they can be lighty smacked with a blunt object and will work for a while but will still need replaced..

Start with basics. Check that it is getting good strong blue spark by removing a spark plug and installing a spark tester, follow manufacturer instructions. Check that it is getting fuel. If both of these are occurung you should locate a shop manual for the vehicle and fpllow the no start troubleshooting procedures.

the most common cause by far is the coil pack, its easy to change and a fairly cheap component - its certainly worth a try if the management light isn't on. if you want to be sure have the ecu fault code read as other possible causes are cam and crank shaft sensors. good luck.
