What is the detailed location of the PCV valve on a 2003 Chevy Tracker?

hello, after looking everywhere for the pcv valve i finally found it. if you are facing the tracker from the front it is located just to the right of the throttle body unit (down a few inches) and it plugs in to the top/back of the engine.if you look almost directly above the last spark plug on the right side and you will see where the hose plugs into the block. the hose has a spring clip attached to it and my original PVC valve had a green plastic ring around it with letters written on it. i hope this helps out, i am no mechanic by any stretch so i apologize for the description but it is the best i can come up with.i didn't want to pay an hours labor to replace a $3.00 part!

How do you replace a rear main seal on a 90 jeep wrangler 4.2L 6 Cylindar?

To replace the rear main seal, you'll need to remove the oil pan. It may be necessary to disconnect the exhaust pipe at the manifold to allow enough room. once the oil pan is off, find the #7 main bearing cap (nearest the rear of your Jeep) and remove the two bolts that hold it in. half of the rear main seal should come off with the bearing cap, leaving the other half still trapped between the crankshaft and the engine block. you can remove this half by pushing on one end of it with a sturdy, yet flexible instrument, like a popsicle stick, or even a soft punch. when the seal starts to rotate out of it's groove, it can be carefully pulled out with pliers. Bear in mind the Rear main seal is nothing but a rubber coated metal ring about 4# in diameter, and half the thickness of a pencil, and is split into two pieces to allow installation and removal. BE VERY CAREFUL to install the new one facing in the right direction, otherwise your engine will leak profusely!

Installation is fairly straight-foreward. grease up the upper half of the seal, and push it carefully into place, insert the lower half into the main bearing cap, and bolt your jeep back together. be sure to correctly torque all internal engine parts, and oil pan bolts as per your service manual

What would cause a Geo Tracker to run great and then stall unexpectedly?

My 2003 Geo Tracker also starts and runs great but shuts the fuel off when it gets hot while idling for about 10 minutes, for instance in heavy traffic, at stop lights, etc. My mechanics couldn't fix it, so I removed the thermostat so at least I could drive it until we found the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How do you remove airlock on Chevrolet tracker?

park on a uphill incline or on ramps with the front end up higher than the rear. Start engine let heat up with heater on high and fan on high. Turn off engine and let cool. Take off radiator cap and fill slowly with 50/50 antifreeze until it quits bubbling and gulping water. Put the cap on start up and repeat the above steps until you can't pour anymore antifreeze into radiator

Better answer by Gm mechanic: No need to park on hill. Remove radiator cap and fill with 50/50 antifreeze almost full. Start engine, turn on heater lever to hot. Fan does not need to be on for faster warmup. Start engine and wait until thermostat opens, (coolant drops suddenly in radiator). Shut off engine and add coolant to fill or leave running but add coolant quickly. Repeat as necessary until full. The issue is that the thermostat when closed keeps an air pocket in engine. Some engines have a bleed hole in thermostat to overcome this, but not many. Mostly Diesels and trucks have a bleed hole. The object is to get the thermostat to open and allow coolant to circulate freely through radiator and engine.

What is the biggest tire for Chevy tracker?

I had four 225-75 R15 tires that were new replacements on a an older Chevy Blazer. When the engine seized I removed them and replaced my aging tires on my newer 2000 Chevy tracker 4X4.

The larger sizes where not recommended by Chevy, but I did it anyway as I felt the 6 inch clearance was enough. These tires gave great tracking on sand. They have been on the vehicle for 4 years with no adverse response on the road. They also provided good snow traction, but I added 300lbs steel slab to keep the rean down.

I recommend when replacing different size tires, do not over do it and jump to major size differences. Be careful and try it out. In my case, it seemed to be an improvement, although they were not economical on gas.

96 crown Victoria cranks but won't start?

Update-- Problem was caused by a bad crank position sensor. I am having the same problem myself. We have checked the fuel pump and replaced the fuel filter and it seem to work for a while but now we are back to the same old problem. After doing a little research we have found some other possible causes that we are going to investigate. First on the list is the power and fuel relays. Sometimes a simple tap will get them working again and they are pretty cheap to replace as well. The relays are located on the driver side between the wheel well and firewall. I have also heard that a flakey crank position sensor can cause this problem - it is a little more difficult to get to. Last but not least on my list to try is grounding the battery to the frame with a secondary wire-- one person has suggested that these vehicles have been known to have grounding problems-- I myself wonder why it would even crank if the ground wasn't adequate but at this point I am willing to try anything. We plan on working on this car again in the upcoming week-- I will post again if we find a concrete solution to this problem.

How do you open the hood of a 2002 Chevy Tracker?

The 2nd Generation Tracker's pull handle hood release is in the usual location, above your left knee, sitting in the car. Unlike the 1st Gen which is in the glove compartment. Pull it, hood pops up, go outside and lift the safety lever, lift hood.

Why is 2001 tracker failing emissions test?

Answer

how many miles are on your tracker

I have a '99 tracker that had very low mileage on it when purchased (used), and it failed emission testing for over a year before I found the problem.
Facing the engine with the hood up, look at the left side (right side of car) of the engine and take notice of the wiring harness... There should also be a wiring diagram on the underside of the hood you can follow. the wiring harness in question was short from the factory and with motor rock it had been pulled on and one of the wires broke... I added about two inches of wire to each wire and it passed emissions test without a problem.
I strongly suggest using a soldering gun and heat-shrink wrap.

Unlatch rear seat on Geo Tracker?

On the 95 tracker, there is a latch attached on a pull cord located in the rear middle of the seat. Pull it firmly toward you, lift the seat and viola!, seat is able to fold up. Secure it with the steel rod into the hook and you are done. Hi, If this a two door you have, you pull the handle on the bottom rear of the seat. If the handle is not there, then you need to have something long with a hook to reach under the seat and search for the latch hook, it will be in the middle towards the front and you need to be able to pull the latch hook so it releases from the latch rod. If you think of the latch hook as looking like a birds beak with a hook at the end towards the ground and it's hooked on a stick, you'll see to pull from the top and pull it backwards, it should release the seat. If this isn't what you're loking for perhaps you could give us a different description of what you need. Hope this helps and good luck. Steve H.

Why won't drum go back on 1999 Chevy Tracker after tensioner is turned in as far as it will go?

Assuming you replaced the shoes, did you put them on correctly? Are they centered? Did someone pull the emergency brake? Is it only one side? If so, check it against the other side to make sure everything is where it should be. If new shoes were installed were they the right ones? Did you match them to the old ones? Never assume you are getting the correct part on anything, always check against the old one.

How to Change brake light s10?

The brake light assy is held in with two screws accessible by opening the tailgate. Carefully remove these screws, and the assembly slides out. Then the lights can be removed and replaced if necessary. The center top-mount light has two screws holding it in as well however, the screws in my '98 require Torx drivers (while the others are philips).
