the book says you drop the engine, transmission and subframe out the bottom. I am about to remove a 4 cylinder, and it looks like there's just enough room to remove it from the top. I'm thinking the exaust manifold can come off to get a little more clearance if needed - the intake manifold will not clear unless the engine can come loose from the tranmission and then move forward before pulling. I'm sure a v6 would never make it, and must come out the bottom. I recommend alldatadiy.com for more info - Haynes makes a good $16 manual, too

Well Engine oil manufacturers keep the manufacturing techniques secrets with each others. Most motor oils are made from a heavier, thicker petroleum hydrocarbon base stock derived from crude oil, with additives to improve certain properties. The bulk of a typical motor oil consists of hydrocarbons with between 18 and 34 carbon atoms per molecule. One of the most important properties of motor oil in maintaining a lubricating film between moving parts is its viscosity. The viscosity of a liquid can be thought of as its "thickness" or a measure of its resistance to flow. The viscosity must be high enough to maintain a lubricating film, but low enough that the oil can flow around the engine parts under all conditions. The viscosity index is a measure of how much the oil's viscosity changes as temperature changes. A higher viscosity index indicates the viscosity changes less with temperature than a lower viscosity index.

The intake plenum on a V-6 or V-8 is bolted to the top of the intake manifold. It has the throttle body bolted to it. The throttle body houses the throttle plate and is located at the end of the tube that starts at the air filter housing. Sometimes the intake manifold on a 4 cylinder is referred to as a plenum. It works the same way and is found in the same manner. Look for the air filter housing, then follow the hose past the throttle body to the intake or plenum.

That i bought at the dealership. Rumor has it was that the red and orange coolant was eating the gaskets.That was information from my friend a Chevy mechanic.

Yes. Depending on the motor, the ECU may give you a Check Engine Light. For instance, JDM motor's do no have evap, but USDM ECU will look for one. When it doesn't find one, it will through the CEL on, though it won't affect performance.

However, if the motor is a JDM B18B (possibly other models as well), you will have to do a CKF sensor bypass. It's fairly simple, and is mandatory in order for the car to run well. Basically the JDM motor does not have a crank sensor, but the USDM ECU will look for one. This will affect performance because the ECU will throw a faulty/defective/missing CKF sensor code, and through it into limp mode to protect the motor from damage.

The 99 Breeze 2.4 L dohc engine is non-interference. I just went through a broken timing belt on my daughters car. The Plymouth Breeze with the X in the V.I.N. are free wheeling design. The pistons in this engine have cut-outs on their domes to allow clearance with belt failure. Some 2.4's are interference, on other Chrysler engines. to remove distributer from old engine, remove distributer cap, noting the position of rotar button. remove one bolt that secures distributor to block. lift ditributer out paying attention to the movement of rotor button. u need to note this when re installing so as distributor goes back in, close to same timing setting. replace bolt but do not tighten fully you will then need to recheck timing. if timing is correct engine will start. if backfiing occurs, your distributor is in , 180 degrees wrong. remove distributer, turn rotor 180 degrees then reinstall. check timing again

If it is a 2 cycle engine then use only 2 cycle oil. If it is a 4 cycle then SAE 10w30 is commonly used in these small engines. Consult your owners manual for the exact oil you should use. I do highly recommend synthetic oil in any air cooled engine.
