Crankcases and PCV Valves

Basically, a crankcase is the casing for the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. Combustion produces pressure within the crankcase. Positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valves regulate the vapor pressure within the engine and recycle it back into the engine.

Where is the PCV valve on a 1991 Buick Regal?

When you open the hood and are standing in front of the car, at the left end of the vavle cover, which would be the pass. side, there may be a clip to hold the plug wires on it. There are probably two bolts on a flat cover, remove the bolts, you may have to gently tap the cover to break it free, it does have an o-ring seal and a spring under the cover. Use a pair of long nose pliers to grab and gently pull up to re move the old pcv valve you may have to use the pliers to install the new one, then spring and replace the cover

Rebuilt ford 302 stroker with 8000 miles why does it blow oil out into the air cleaner box and out the tailpipe you put a new Pcv valve in and ther was no change?

internal crankcase pressure is forcing oil through the PCV valve into the air cleaner.

first thing to check is for vacuum where the PCV plugs into the valve cover. you can use your hand to cover the opening or use a vacuum gauge with the car at idle (vacuum should be 3-5)

If you have pressure instead of vacuum the next step is to the other valve cover. it should have a hose coming from it that goes to the base of the carb or vacuum port near the plenum of the intake manifold and check for vacuum. this is to pull all the crankcase gasses into the intake and burn it in the combustion chamber and out the exhaust. the side with the PCV valve should be pulling fresh air from the airbox

Where is the PCV valve on a 2005 Chevy uplander?

The 2005 Chevrolet Up to land or PCV valve can be found near the back of the engine. The PCV valve will be behind the air cleaner housing.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 1992 Chevy Beretta?

Has anyone ever used a speedy sleeve to repair a crank shaft seal area?

The only way it would work (long term) to install a speedy sleeve is if the crank had a small groove in it from the old seal.

These sleeves are designed to overcome that problem, not chipping or any other damage. They will work for a seal groove but they can be tricky to install. You might have to buy more than one to get it all the way on without crushing it.

Take your time and be careful and follow the directions to the letter.

Does a Chevrolet S10 pickup have a pcv valve for a 4 cyclinder?

Yes. Should be on drivers side up near the top of the engine.

Some of the 2.2 engines do not have a serviceable PCV valve.

What are the inlet and exhaust valves opened by?

inlet and exaust valves are usually opened by a lobe on a crankshaft, either directly, or with a pushrod and rocker arm assembly.

What is lapping of inlet valves?

"Lapping" of valves is a method of smoothing the seating areas of the valve. There are specific angles that the valve seats into and lapping is a very precision way of making that fit as tight as possible.

What is the valve inlet and exhaust settings V6 3.00?

Unfortunatly there is not enough information to answer this, I suggset getting a Chilton's manual for your vehicle, or going to your local library and looking it up in a Motor manual. You will need to know year, engine size and possibly series, though just having the VIN number can give you this with most books.

When is the proper time to check the oil on a car?

Generally, a car's oil should be checked/changed about every 4,000 miles.

However, if your vehicle has one of those "warning" symbols on your dashboard that lights up when the oil needs to be checked, it's best to give it a look-over.

Also be aware of any signs that signify your oil needs to be checked. If you see that it is leaking from underneath your vehicle, there could be a problem, so have it diagnosed as soon as you can.

Hope this helps!

Where is the pcv valve on a 1999 Chrysler Sebring V6 non-turbo fuel injected engine?

It's on the left (passengers) side of the front valve cover. There's a black hose going into it. It should just pull right out. When it's out it just looks like a nipple thing that rattles unless it's clogged.

Where is the PCV valve on a 2001 Mazda MPV?

"Where is the PCV valve on a 2001 Mazda MPV?"

I have done this and it's very hard to see. It's on the back side of the motor, somewhere behind the throttle body. Got to WWW.MPVCLUB.COM and ask there. I put pictures in a thread about it but it was long ago and I don't know if the pics are still around or how hard it will be to find the thread.

It's on the left side of the intake plenum looking at the cars front. It's screwed sideways on the left side of the intake plenum with a hose coming right off of it. It's not visible unless you remove the upper and lower plenum.
