If it is a 4.3L V-6 engine, the egr valve would be located behind the throttle body, in front of the distributor. It is attached to the intake manifold by 2 bolts. It has an electrical connector that unplugs.

I suggest removing the air cleaner assembly.It has the 3 bolts and remove the plastic duct tube on it, the two nuts inside at the carb and flex hose on the exhuast manifold.Now pull it up disconnect the two vacumm lines on the bottom of the air cleaner NOTE where they go with some masking tape(good idea) and prop the air cleaner up with a long flat head screw driver.Now the egr is below the carb it has 3 10mm bolts one vacumm line,one electrical connector.I would NOT just replace it at first.I would remove it and NOTE the position of the metal gasket on it,and then clean it with carburetor cleaner and a tooth brush,or sandpaper,or small cordless drill brush.Get all the carbon(black soot) out and reinstall.If after the this the problem does not improve try disconnecting JUST the vacumm line on the egr and if the problem goes away THEN replace the egr.This would indicate the diaphragm inside is losing vacumm causing bad idle,coughing,hesitation,choking etc.Auto zone and advance auto both sell this and it is not cheap look at rough cost 140.00 -160.00 unless you can find a NEW one cheaper.Try cleaning it FIRST then reaccess the trucks running condition.I know this first hand after owning my 87 for 23 yrs since new!!ALot to read but,solid and exact.

take the negative cable loose on your baterry and reset the light . see if it comes back on if yes you have another sensor gone bad more than likely oxygen sensor Auto Zone will connect a code reader to your car computer for FREE and read the trouble code that the CEL is indicating. After you have gotten the code(s) the Zone can print an explanation of what they found on receipt paper for you. Post back here and someone with knowledge of OBD-II trouble codes can help point you in the RIGHT direction.

The egr valve is located on the drivers side of the engine on the rear of the intake manifold. Its held on by 2 bolts and has a vacuum line on the top of the diaphram.

It is right beside of the thermostat housing, right side of it. Just follow the top radistor hose to the engine and it will clamp to the thermostat housing.

I have not changed one on an Aurora, however, I have changed other types and they all seem similar. Usually getting at them is the hard part. You will remove 2-3 bolts, 1-2 vaccum lines,sometimes a metal tube, clean off the old gasket and reverse the procedure.Before I would replace one, I would spray(soak) it with 'DEEPCREEP' made by the SEA FOAM company. Most EGR valves stick because of carbon build-up and this product will dissolve carbon. It may require a couple appications. I hope this helps you. Mark

egr is on back left of engine from front of vehicle. It is round and silver - Should be two bolts on etherside to remove it spray carborator cleaner in it is what i was told. and replace it.

2002 5.3 Chevy don't have egr valves factory removed them in 2002

On the 3100 engine it is located between the master brake booster and the rear head of the engine on driver's side. It has a wiring connector on top and EGR is held on by two 10mm bolts. Can be installed backwards if not careful.

This issue will almost certainly cause internal engine damage if it fails in an open state, which is common. The condition it causes inside the engine is an improper lean fuel mixture. Some engines are more prone to damage from this, because some manifolds distribute the egr gas more evenly than others. Typically you will wind up with a burnt valve on one cylinder which will cause a constant miss and costly repairs.

This has happened to me on two suzuki engines on cylinder that is closest to the egr, and one small block v8 chevrolet on number 8 next to the egr.

Fix it asap or lose your engine.

A 1997 Ram does not have EGR

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (ERG) recirculates a portion of an engine's exhaust as back to the engine cylinders. On a Renault scenic, the valve is located at the top center of the engine.

The unburnt exhaust gases are recirculated back through the engine by way of the intake manifold. This helps reduce emissions.

The EGR valve is located under your hood, right next to the transmission dipstick tube. It has a metal cage on the bottome side of it, and a plastic sorrounding peice on top. It will have three 13MM nuts holding it to the throttle body, and two 10MM on the bottom holding the small exhaust bybass tube. It will also have 1 vacume line, and 1 small wiring harness going to it.

I have a 96 4.0. I found the egr valve under the hood, near the battery. It has a small pipe that connects to the exhaust pipe, and is bolted to the drivers side of the engine. It also has vacuum line attached and is either connected with a hose or is ported to the intake manifold. It's been a while since I've messed with it. Mine was not frozen, so I didn't replace it. Of course I'm still getting a trouble code p0401. I now suspect a vacuum leak that prevents the valve from opening properly. I still need to check that out. Good luck.

On a V8, it's like, if you look at the engine, there is a pipe coming up from the exhaust manifold going up and to the backside of your engine, next to the firewall. Follow the tube going up and it runs into the EGR Valve.

well on my 2000 Chevy tracker it is an egr flow malfunction. Girl at autozone said it could be a egr blockage....
