Electric Windows

Where is the fuse located on a 1993 Toyota Camry for the power windows?

most of the time the window fuse is located under the hood but it could aso be in the regualar fuse box but if not it would be in the fuse box uder the hood Fuse box is by drivers left knee. Above this are the flashers and about 3 inches above this is the circuit breaker for the windows and door locks. breaker is silver, about 1/2 by 5/8 inch and in the center is the button you need to push in to reset. I used an unbent paper clip to press it. Make sure unit is not energized. May need to unplug breaker first. Press in center button until it clicks.

Where is the power breaker for the power windows located in a 2003 impala its not where the book says it is?

The power window relay is located in the engine compartment. It is part of a bank of relay switches on the fender wall near the battery.

How do you reset the power windows and sunroof an a 2002 Nissan Maxima?

With the help of the technical service manual on CD produced by Nissan on the 2002 and 2003 Maxima I now have located the quick fix for a problem I have had since purchasing my used 2002 SE a few months ago. That is the drivers door window one-touch up function for the window was not working properly. The window would go up to the top and then retreat about 5 inches back down again.

This problem is due to the limit switch needing to be reset which at first I thought would be a considerable job (to take off the door panel etc.) but ended up being literally a 2 minute job as the door panel can remain in place. My dealer wanted $85 CDN for the switch reset which I knew was a rip off before I found the fix procedure myself. I know several '02 and '03 Maxima owners have had this same problem but no-one then appeared to know the fix. Alhough this procedure is simple once you do it, my description seems long as I wanted to be a descriptive as possible since I can't provide pictures. So here it is:

Step 1: Pry the plastic cap up off the bottom centre of the door pull handle and remove the single Philips screw.

Step 2: Remove the whole switch panel (in which the door pull handle sits) by prying it up from the back end either with a flat edged screwdriver or table knife (under cloth) or by hand which is what I did. It is just clipped in so should come out relatively easily sliding it up at the back and then pulling it back.

You can now see the inside of the door from where the switch finishing plate sat. You can leave the wiring all attached and simply hang the switch and handle plastic assembly to one side so you can see the inside of the door.

Look inside towards the front bottom of the door behind the plastic vapour barrier you will see a small black switch. It almost looks like a black pan screw head. This is the reset switch but there is a sequence to now doing the actual reset procedure. The switch doesn't really feel like one when you press it through the plastic liner which incidentally you don't need to cut (at least I didn't have to). It is a switch that is only on when you are pressing it otherwise when released it is off.

STEP 3: Make sure the window is closed (up) completely. Turn the ignition on so the windows are receiving power.

a) Press the reset switch (and keep it pressed in) and open (down) the window completely (manually -NOT with AUTO ONE TOUCH DOWN FUNCTION).

b) Release the reset switch. Then close the window completely (manually only - NOT AUTO UP).

c) The limit switch is now reset.

How do you fix a window in a 91 cavalier that has popped off the track?

I've had this happen several times myself. First you will have to remove your inner door panel, the locking mechanism can be a bit tricky just make sure you don't bend the linkage. Replace your guide clips on both sides of the window, these are inexpensive and can be found a virtually any auto parts store. Make sure your track are true and not bent. Make sure you lubricate the guide and tracks for smooth operation of the window. While doing this, most importantly, dont drop your window down inside the door or you will be replacing it too.

How do you remove the door panel from a 1997 Dodge 1500 pickup truck to fix a window?

there are various screws on the door panel some are hidden, being these are the new age cars i would search for the screws if i think i have them all i would start at the bottom edge and pop the edges first then give a slight tug up on the panel to release it from the edge lip on top where it hangs on by the window once that s done try pulling outward not to hard just to make sure all screws are free.once you inter the panel the window should be visable on a track held by two ten millameter bolts.reverse proceeder job well done.

Window stuck down how to fix 99 Chevy Venture?

Hi,

Most of the time a problem like this is either the wiring between the switch and the window motor or the switch. You will need to do a little troubleshooting, but it is a relatively simple circuit that controls the windows.

I have a link below that will explain how the windows work and also has a drawing of the circuit.

Good Luck, Greg

1999 z24 driver side power window has no power?

If the passenger side works fine and there is no power at the driver side motor, I would suspect the switch. A weak motor will overheat the switch causing it to melt inside where the contacts are.

2000 Buick regal ls back windows won't roll down but the front ones work. How do you repair?

Motor runs but window does not move and does not stay up?

The lifting mechanism went bad. You need to remove the door panel and have a look at what is going on. It might happen that you will be able to repair it, but most likely you will have to replace it.

PS: Before replace anything make sure that you know what happened because it might be repairable. Your problem might be either of these two. 1. A slipped Power window cable, or 2. A broken cable. 1. above can be repaired, if the kits are intact, while 2. above requires replacement. you are welcome.

How do you replace a window motor on a 1993 GMC Jimmy?

Disconnect the battery, Remove the door panel, vapor barrier plastic, power window connections, and I would remove the entire regulator assembly with motor attached. It helps to have someone hold the window as it drops inside of the door. Some motors are riveted to the regulator at the factory, so if it is I would obtain a good used assembly at a salvage yard. I have done these in a couple hours. Looks harder then it is.

How do you remove the drivers side door panel on a 2000 Dodge Avenger so that the electric lock-window assembly can be re-resured?

Go to Allpar.com site and download a procedure by Rodger Koppa to replace outside door handle. It includes how to take off and put on the door panel. It's really simpler than it looks. You DO NOT have to unhook the inside door handle as the Chilton procedure says, by the way, if you decide to use that publication.
