How do you change the serpentine belt on a 1997 Lincoln Continenntal 6L engine?
use a ratchet on the tensioner to draw it back it will be tough note you must put on belt at the same time.yes it will take muscle but can be done in less then ten mins.most tensiners square hole you should be able to use 1/2" drive ratchet all by it self if no fit use other but Lincoln at least all my v8's use this size.if no tensiner with you will be able to see whether or not is stationary pulley then the alternator will slide in a bracket.
How do you replace or change the serpentine belt on a 2001 olds alero V6?
Find the belt tensioner at the top of the belt run; it has a pulley attached to it. Insert a wrench on it and put tension against the spring loaded tensioner. Simply remove the belt and install the new one. Review the belt path before you begin the removal.
My experience tells me it is a non interference engine and it is unlikely to have damage.

Why won't the back doors of a 1991 Bonneville SSE open?
Is it from the inside or outside, the inside have child locks to keep them from being opened from the inside, open them from the outside, inside the the door where the latch is, is a selector for the child locks
AnswerIt can be one of three things.1) If there are child locks, it could be that, but the doors would open from the outside.
2) The latch is broken. I have the same problem on my 1989 Bonneville and I know a place that will fix it for roughly $90 per door.
3) The rod is snapped or broken.
AnswerThese cars typically suffer from this. It is not usually caused by the power locks, if you can hear the lock mechanism clicking when you press the button, it is most likely fine. The root of the problem is that GM started to use a vegetable oil based lubricant on the lock mechanism around this time to replace the previously used whale oil based lubricant. Over time, with lack of use, this dries into a sticky residue and does not allow the lock to disengage. Usually only the driver's door will still work, since it gets the most use. If you push in the lock button on the exterior of the door and it feels like there is "nothing" behind it, this is likely your problem. To simply get your doors open try this: Have someone click the power lock open and closed in rapid succession while you hit (hard) with the side of your fist on the top of the door handle (exterior of car) several times. Make sure they stop clicking the lock with it in the open position, then try the door, this will often free the stuck lock. The only real cure for this is to remove the door panel and lock, then clean and re-lubricate the lock. Another tip is NEVER push in the exterior door button when the car is locked, it will just about guarantee that the lock will stick. Why will your windshield wiper fluid not dispense?
Washer pump may be bad or the fuse may be blown. Also make sure the spray nozzles are open. Sometimes when waxing a car you can easily fill the small orifice with wax. Use a small stick pin to clean them out.
The intake manifold on the V6 / V8 engines is usually bolted to the top of the engine in the center of the " V ". The new Bmw V8 and ford's 6.7 diesel have reverse flow cylinder heads, the exhaust is in the valley between the heads and the intake is now on the outside of the heads.
Inline 4cyl. engine has the intake on the side of the engine, on a front wheel drive(tranverse motor) car would have it either bolted to the front side or backside of the motor.

What is the average mileage to which a transmission on a 2002 sedan be replaced?
There is no "correct" answer for this. Mileage is just one factor to use in determinign the life of an auto transmission. Some transmissions last for many many miles, and others do not. The big factor is how much regular maintenance and service the trans has seen. Routine fluid and filter changes are important. Also if the transmission was used to tow heavy trailers. The enemy of transmissions is HEAT. Heat destroys the fluids which are inside the tranny. The fluid is pumped inside the tranny to cause the tansmission to turn. The fluid flows throughotu the tranny and when it begins to lose it's lubrication properties or is heated to the place where it loses it's protective additives, then the trans wears out quickly. A "burnt" transmission has a unique smell to it. A transmission that has an added cooler and has pulled trailers should be in better condition than a stock tranny with the usual small tranny cooler. Soem transmissions last longer just because they are built better. Some tranmissions are abused when driver's change directions from drive to reverse without completely stopping first. Maybe if you can better ascertain how the tranny was cared for before looking at mileage as a factor, it will give you a better idea of when it will need changed. I had a Toyota Camry that went 289,000 with the original trnsmission, never a problem because it was maintained and serviced regularly. One other factor is hwo many miles a year th eavg person drives. Some say it's 12,000 per year, some say 15,000. So if you are looking at a tranny with 60,000 to 75,000 miles on it, and it has been cared for, you "should be" okay. More than 100,000 and abused.............look out.
How do you change the tail light bulb in a 2006 ford freestyle also on a 2007 Freestyle?
There are three rubber gasketed 7/16" nuts with washers that hold the tailight in place. You must pull back the lining in the trunk, remove the plastic nut holding the plastic end part to access the 7/16th" nuts, there are two additional 7/16" nuts that I removed that are sis\de by side towards the bottom, but I don't believe they were necessary. I found that I had tro lightly hammer the threaded bolts outward to release the light assembly. I also thought it was easiest to disconnect the wire harness to the the tail light before removing the tail lightr assembly. The light are then exposed and remove from the assembly with a slight twist and pull straight out. The bulbs then can be pulled out of the socket. Note: the following 'alternative method' worked on a 2007 Ford Freestyle. Alternative method: There are only two screws to remove. I read a bunch of other posts because I had trouble removing the taillight. Lots of people had this same problem. After you remove the screws there are two push tabs that still need to be pulled out. They are located at the front of the taillight. I inserted a flat large screwdriver near the back and applied some pressure. This released the top one, then I applied some pressure in the gap near the front.
I don't think you will break the light, you could scratch the paint maybe. The taps are in two parts. The first part is supposed to stay in the metal and the 2nd part is supposed to release. In my case this happened on one tab and on the other tab it pulled out the wrong part. However it still went back in and holds fairly well. source: http://www.ford-forums.com/ford-freestyle/8334-tail-lights-trailer-light-setup.html We used a mini nail puller to pop the tabs. That worked, and didn't break the tabs. Also, the top tab is in the vehicle, the bottom tab comes out w/ the light cover assembly. (That's how it worked for us.)

Where is the oxygen sensor located on a 2001 Ford Escape?
I believe it is on the back of the header/manifold. There are two of them on some Escapes.
What would cause my rear passanger door to not lock on Ford Escape?
There is a solinoid that actuates the lock mechanisim. Either you are not getting power to it due to faulty wiring or switch, or the solinoid is bad itself.
MAKE SURE THE CAR IS SUPPORTED SO YOU DON'T KILL YOURSELF,then Put on one lug nut back on a few turns, from the backside of the wheel, take a big hammer and whack the tire several times. If it still doesn't come, turn the wheel a quarter turn and continue, keep doing this for 30 or so times. If it still doesn't want to come off, hit it on the rim from the backside. Just be careful to not bend the rim. Sometimes I put one lug on a few turns and slowly leave the weight back down on the tire till it breaks free. I've been in the tire business for more than 2O years and answer number 2 scares me! I strongly advise you to follow the directions in answer one. Make sure the vehicle is supported with something besides just the jack and get a BFH to beat the back side of the tire. Unless you can get a good swing you will have to beat on the rim itself. If were talking about a steel wheel on a rear drum and you have the time try a little penatrating oil on the outside of the wheel in the very center where you will see it rides on a small ridge of the brake drum and let it sit overnight. then beat on it. Loosen all the lug nuts, but don't remove them. Then mule kick the edge of the rim with boots on. If that fails, take all of the lug nuts completely off, soak the back of the wheel with WD-40 and take that cross country road trip you've been meaning to take. Oh, and wear your seat belt!
What is wrong with the wiper fluid on a 1999 4 door Tahoe if it doesn't spray?
It could be that the sparyers could be congested with something or there is a flaty connection that is not sending the right thing telling the sprayers to work.
AnswerFirst put fluid in the reservoir, run the pump, is it making a motor noise? If you can hear it running, disconect a supply tube before the spray nozzle and run it again, does fluid squirt from the tube? if not the pump is not pumping replace it. If fluid squirts out, clean the nozzels. With the hose disconected blow backwards through the nozzel to dislodge any debree plugging the nozzel. If it wont come out you can use a strait pin or simmeler device to dislodge the debree. Reconect the tube and try again. How do you replace a head light bulb on a 1997 Toyota RAV4?
fIRST YOU SEE A RUBBER GASKET SURROUNDING THE HEADLIGHT PLUG IN THE BACK OF THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY. pULL OFF THE GASKET AND LET IT HANG ON THE SURROUN DING HEADLIGHT WIRES. tHEN PULL OFF THE HEADLIGHT WIRE HARNESS BY GRABBING THE SOCKET (NOT THE WIRES). AROUND THE BULB IS A THIN SILVER HOLDING SPRING THAT LOOSENS BY SQUEEZING THE ENDS TOGETHER AND ROTATING IT. iT WILL LOOSEN AROUND THE HEADLIGHT. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE HEADLIGHT WILL "FLOP" AROUND AND PULL IT OUT, REMEMBERING TO SEE HOW THE THREE CONNECTORS ARE LOCATED (I.E - IS ONE CONNECTOR AT 12 O CLOCK POSITION AND THE OTHER TWO ARE AT 9 AND 3 OR ARE THEY AT 3,6 AND 9, ETC.). rE-ASSEMBLY IS THE OPPOSITIE. tHE TRICK IS TO GET THE THIN SPRING WIRE BACK IN PLACE. YOU HAVE TO SQUEEZE THE SPRING AND RE-POSITION IT SO IT KEEPS THE BULB SECURLY IN PLACE
Having just changed the bulb, I would advise taking the whole headlight assembly out first. It is near impossible to feel or imagine how to change the bulb without seeing it. First, use a Phillips screwdriver to take the single screw holding the strip off just below the headlight assembly. By doing so, you will now see the other two bottom bolts holding the headlight in. Take all four bolts out then disconnect the bulb from behind. Then proceed as above.
