Under the hood, find the automatic transmission fluid pipe. Consult your owner's manual if you do not know where this is. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out to check the fluid level. The fluid should be at the "full" line.

You can adjust the idle air screw. Get a haynes manual it will show you how

It depends on what you mean be stall. If you can hear the engine rev up like the trans isn't even in gear...it could be a few things. 1) You're low on trans fluid. And the trans is literally falling out of gear around turns or when you go up hill. 2) If you stomp the gas and it revs up then takes off...and you have an automatic trans your drive belt is going out. If you can take off fine in 1st gear (automatic only) then it is your drive belt. If it just started doing this get something called Lucas Transmission Additive. It will recondition the belt enough to make it driveable. If it's been going on a while, chances are good your trans is shot.

I've alway replaced the headlight by just turning on the headlights so they will open up. Then remove the plastic shrourd from around the headlight by removing the Phillips screw on the side of the shroud that is towards the center of the hood and carefully prying the other side of the shroud loose from the headlight. Once the shroud is removed, you can remove the top 2 screws from the top of the headlight bulb retaining frame, bend the frame down, and pull the headlight out. Disconnect the headlight connector at the rear of the bulb, install the new bulb and put the part back together again. Make sure you remove the 2 screws from the crome retaining frame to access the headlight, do not remove the black screws behind the bulb. These are the adjusting screws that set your headlight alignment.

I apologize but ACE is wrong on this question. ACE is talking about the Fuel First Inertia Switch or the fuel pump reset switch. The fuel pump relay is located under the driver side dashboard just above the fuse panel. It is located next to a large green relay that is the flasher unit. The fuel pump relay is black and yellow and should have 5 prongs. Neonebraska it is in the back in the trunk. it is on the drives side in the bottom, kinda in the floor then there should be a switch in there. its just a white push button ACE

the firing order for a 2.5 v6 is 1,2,3,4,5,6

I have a 94 Probe GT. 2.5 V6. It has a belt, not a chain. Best bet is to get a Haynes manual ($17.00), theres a lot of goodies to remove. -CE

( Yes ) on a 1996 Ford Probe the fill for the engine coolant reservoir is

located in the engine compartment , between the battery and the drivers side

fender . There is a dipstick attached to the cap and with the engine cool

the dipstick should indicate that the coolant level is up to the L mark

Remove the cap with dipstick , wipe the dipstick clean and reinstall the cap ,

remove the cap again and check the coolant level . If it shows below L

it came from the factory with a

50 / 50 mix of distilled water and GREEN colored antifreeze

meeting Ford specification ESE-M97B44-A so you would want to add

coolant

The problem could be the output speed sensor on the transmission or the speedo head it self. A scan tool would be helpful

If it is blowing white smoke out of the exhaust tailpipe when the engine is at

operating temperature, engine coolant is getting into an engine cylinder from a

bad head gasket or some other problem

Remove the Air Intake Box so you can see in below... there is a pipe running right into the bell where the thermostat is housed. There is one bolt that you need to take remove (it is to the right, below the distributor, it goes into the engine block). Then there are the other 12 mm bolts on the bell of the thermostat housing to remove. After removing those the thermostat should be able to come right out. When replacing i would recommend getting a replacement thermostat with a jiggle pin...

There is no clutch fluid reservoir on a 1997 Probe. On this car, it is the same as the brake fluid reservoir.

What is the exact size of the engine (liters) and does it have AC. There are 2 models for that year. One of them was a GT. I can give you step by step instruction if I know the specifics. Thanks!

ok i have a 1994 ford probe 2.0, it should be the same, the alternator is behide the engine, i did it with just normal tools and didnt have to remove the cross member or half shaft, what i did is

1 remove negative terminal

2 jack the car up as far as you can

3 i unloosend the bolt that moves the alternator back and forth a little then went under and loosend the mounting bolt as much as i could

4 then i went back to the bolt that moves the alternator back and forth and took it out completely (pain in the butt bc u can only move the wrench 1/2 a turn a time, use extensions if u have)

5 remove the mounting bolts completely

6 then with the bolts out i used a hammer to remove it from the mount under neath

7 now with it free i took off the wires (thee is a nut holding the negative on pop the black cap with a flat head and remove it.

8 then i removed the mounting bracket (3 bolts)

9 then here comes the fun, i took the old alternator out by the half shaft i used a hammer and cow bar, and twist it so the pulley is facing the other pulleys (or just how eve u can)

10 to get the new one in all i did was play with it to get it over the half shaft and a little muscle to push it up in and got it.

11 then just reinstall everything.

there is 2 other ways to do it and one is remove the half shaft and that would make life simple also u can remove the crossmember and pull it out back and down by the exost pipe

it took me 2 days to figure this out so i hope it helps

the bolts are all 1/2 or 7/16

Depending on the car model let's say a Mazda mx6 and ford probe have the same engine and trans configurations from yrs 93-97 plus suspension components brakes fuel tanks also the mx3 has the same motor but only in v6 form some millenias also have some compatible motor n trans configurations

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Loosen the hose band and remove the intake hose.

3. Remove the airflow meter attaching bolts and detach the wire harness connector.

4. Remove the airflow meter from the air cleaner housing.

5. Installation is the reverse order of the removal procedure.

In the main fuse box under the hood behind the battery

Most bolts and nuts are right hand thread. You turn to the right or clockwise to tighten. Some unique applications have left hand threads, usually because the direction the application turns. Those you would turn counterclockwise or to the left to tighten.
