How do you replace the grill on a 2000 Ford Windstar?
do not attempt to replace the grille yourself. it is a major project involving the removal of the complete bumper assembly. instead spend a little money and take the van to a body shop and have it done professionally.

I disagree. I just replaced the front grille on my 2000 Ford Windstar without having to remove any other major assembly. Here is how I did it:
1. Remove the flexible horizontal cover above the radiator housing (it has information decals stuck to it) by popping out its plastic retainers (keep them separated in a cup).
2. Remove the plastic retainers across the top of the old grille (keep these separated in another cup).
3. While pulling the old grille forward, use a utility knife to trim off the left and right plastic grille alignment tabs that poke through 1"-long slots on each end of the grille. This will allow you to pull the grille away from the radiator enough to reach the screws along the bottom of the grille.
4. Use a 4" long (or shorter) 5/16" box-end wrench to unscrew the 9 screws that protrude upward through the grille. The grille attaches to a very flexible (rubbery) section of the front bumper that freely flexes. Use fingertips from one hand to keep the wrench on the hex head screw and patiently unscrew with the other hand.
5. Lift out the old grille, clean off the bumper, transfer the FORD emblem to the new grille, and set the new assembly into place.
6. It is not necessary to reinstall all 9 retaining screws. Start at one end and install every other one and you will be fine.
7. After all retaining screws are installed, use a long/large screwdriver as an aid to align the 1"-long slots with the alignment tabs of the new grille, hold the grille in place by pressing it toward the motor, and then reinstall the plastic retainers along its top edge.
8. Reinstall the horizontal cover -- and you are done -- assuming you have already transferred the FORD emblem from the old grille to the new one.
This worked out great but its easier if you use a 1/4 inch drive ratchet 4" long with a short socket 5/16"on the 9 retaining screws its faster and save on your patients. Thanks...
How to fix instrument brightness control if it does not work?
If the instrument lights come on but the brightness isn't working you probably have a damaged light switch. They usually aren't too expensive, but on the other hand it depends on the vehicle and the parts distributor. Also if the brightness is controlled by a switch other than the headlight switch, then this rheostat may be bad and need replacing.
How do you calibrate a speedometer?
Your speedometer and odometer are independent of one another as far as calibration goes but if you have just had your transmission repaired or lifted your truck and put 36" wheels on it, chances are it will not be calibrated any more.
The only way to have a speedometer calibrated is to take it to a certified speedometer repair shop and let them do it.
A couple of alternatives:
1. Have a friend in another car signal you when he reaches a predetermined speed.
2. You can get a rough idea of how far off it is by bringing along a friend with a watch with a second hand, a pen and paper to record your odometer while you drive. Go to an interstate and use the mile markers. Since you aren't sure if your speedo is correct, follow someone or stay in the right lane and drive fast enough so you aren't creeping along and tell your ride to record the mileage - as you pass it, call it out. Drive at least ten miles and call out the end mileage. Divide 10 by the difference between the end and start odometer readings.
If you start at 12,345.6 miles and end at 12,353.2 your speedometer is only 76% accurate. If you still have a gear in the transmission, you have to pull it out and count the teeth. GM 350 auto trans can handle gears from 18t to 24t, 700R4 trans gear range is from 34t to 45t. Fords go from 16t to 23t available from motorsport. Both GM and Ford make gears used in manual trans' that are cut opposite to auto trans gears. Chrysler also has a wide range of gears but it's been a while since all gears were available from the dealer.
Divide 100 by this number, that represents roughly what each tooth is worth percentage-wise. To make your speedo faster, subtract teeth. More teeth makes your speed go down. This holds true for all makes of vehicles.
3. If you have an electric speedometer (chances are you do) there are too many ways to list but chances are your PCM will need a software change to correct the speedo.
If you drove ten miles and the odometer says ten, then you should be able to drive at 30 MPH non-stop for two minutes and your odometer should have recorded one mile.
Why cant you turn the key in a 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe?
make sure front wheels are straight when you turn car off
you might have to turn wheel as hard as you can to left and turn ignition key
I broke down and brought it in to the dealer. He said there was a trip switch mounted at the rear latch mechanism that needed replacement ($40). I was able to replace it myself.
This is very common on all Windstars.
Try lubing the contacts, cleaning the track where the door wheel rolls on rocker panel, and make sure there are no obstructions anywhere in the doors path. it happens to mine about once a month and there is usually dirt in the path somewhere which trips a safety sensor
You might also try cleaning the set of contacts and the pins. This is easiest done with a pencil eraser - simply rub the eraser on each contact to remove the oxidization that naturally starts to build up.
The door works on a "cycle" and the electronic pad on the door pillar may have become dirty.
Open the door and close it, and open again manually. pushing it all the way open until it locks into place. then actuate it with the door close button on your overhead console. If it does not work, then take a clean rag and window cleaner and wipe the electronic pad on the door pillar to ensure there is a good signal being sent.
Try cleaning the brass looking contacts on the door and the ones on the door jam.
What are the lights called in the front bumper of a 1993 Ford Windstar van?
"Cornering" lights - as they only come on when the turn signal is active, which *usually* means you'll soon be turning the corner ;) See "Related Questions" below for more
How do you fix the air defrost in a 1990 Ford Tempo?
This happend to mine, so Im guessing you have the same problem. Under the hood and in the back, along the firewall. Close to the top and middle you will see a vacuum tree. Check there for any of those lines having a tear or just came off. One of my hoses had dry rotted. An air leak there will cause your defrost to not work
check that the door contact switches are not grounding against the frame... good luck dave

Why does 1995 Chrysler Cirrus Lxi have no check engine light will not start?
My Cirrus wouldn't start with no check engine light either and it was not the battery because the radio, lights, power windows work. After taking to my mechanic he began checking the electrical system and found that the sparks plugs were not getting any power because the distributor was bad.
What would cause a 2005 Mazda MPV V6 to stall out while driving?
There is a small hose that will get a hole burnt in it. It will cause a vacuum leak and the engine will stall out during idle. It is located behind the top valve cover and unless you are real good you will have to take it to a dealer. You also might have a couple of sensors burnt out also. All will cost you between 500 to 800 dollars.
Water leaking out a small hole. What is and where is a freezer plug on a windstar?
If the hole is at the bottom of the water pump, the water pump seal has failed. It's unlikley that a freeze plug has rusted through, although it is certainly possible. Freeze plugs tend to be larger than a half dollar and press into the block at various places.
Where is pcm located on ford Windstar sel 2002?
It is on the right-hand side and is only accessible from the engine bay. You have to remove the plastic cover against the windshield and remove the metal windshield wiper assembly. It is not difficult. Ultrartwing

Why does a 1996 Ford Windstar stall out while idling or driving?
get an engine diagnostic check, a lot of different problems can contribute to your situation.
probably you have a disconnected vacuum line. that line runs from the passenger side of the intake to the firewall and across the firewall and through the firwewall in fron of the drivers door by the windshield wiper motor. it then runs under the steerring column and joins some mechanisms above the accelorator pedal. when you find it and join it your car will run better too.
