The 1990 Geo Tracker IAT sensor is located on the top of the transmission. The IAT sensor will be near the back of the transmission.

Good question. I am messing around with one now, but I am having no luck. The problem is that you need to reprogram the engine control module to reset itself. Unlike earlier cars, the spark is set by the computer, so even if you align all the markings, it does not gaurantee that your car will fire properly. Right now, I have a misfire on cylinder four.

Fuel pump is inside fuel tank. Access by removing all-in-one assembly from top of tank. Assembly holds fuel pump, suction pickup & level sender as well as fuel return line. Bit pricey if pump needs replaced. Be sure to check if pump has power before buying a replacement - the wires & connectors likes to corrode near the rear of the car. I've rigged a "hotwire" to get home many times.

The cable is manual drive on a 1991.It plugs directly in the back of the speedometer.

I own a tracker for 5 years it is a 92. The only thing I had to replace was the computer and got a used one for 300 dollars. It now has 309951 miles on it and still runs great. It only takes 28 dollars to fill up the gas tank. If I was you I would get it and if it used make sure you buy it from a older person.

the firring order is 1342 and with the rotor turning counter clockwise meens you have 1.6L 16 valve motor

Pull the codes from the computer, match the code to the troubleshooting procedure, follow the procedure to find the source. Repair the source, light will go out if that was the only problem. There are "monitors" or self tests the computer runs the car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, it may not run all of the self tests until that problem is taken care. Therefore, another problem may exist. It is emission related. OR hook up a scanner that is capable of clearing codes, and hope that none are still active. You can also disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes, then reconnect it. The codes will clear, however if there is a problem in your system, the light will come on again after about 50 miles.

you might try having the injectors cleaned Have your valves checked! I had the same problem with a 1992 Geo Tracker, the exhaust valve on the #3 cylinder was stuck too tight! The mechanic adjusted all the valves, and the problem went away. You will have to get a compression test to cofirm this.

ok if you have the timing cover off look ate you cam pulley you will see to dots with letters a E and a I mack shore you you do this right put the E ate the top when you have done that spine it 2 time and mack shore you put it back on E mack shore you have the timing cover on you need the mark on the cover to me in line with E in the cam pulley on now the fun starts put the timing cover on but do not but timing bleat on put your bottom pulley on there is a little notch on it ok now on you timing comer you will see numbers put the little notch on .0. then tack the timing cover off and pulley put you belt on just mack shore you do not move any pulley.and now put it all back to gather and id should

Hi, The first is, is your radiator fluid level ok? second is the very realpossibility that your thermostat is bad. Take a look when you park on a dry spot and see if any fluid is beneath your car. I had a situation once where my water pump was failing and I wasn't getting any heat. If you look for the first two, you will probably will find it. Good luck. Steve H.

I found it on my 1995 tracker sitting just in front of the battery. Look for a clump of wires leading into what looks like an unused and capped electrical connector. It's about 3/4 of an inch at widest.

It depending on the Emissions family. On the sticker on your hood you should see a sticker that gives valve clearances, timing and so on. Where it shows you the setting 5 deg. before TDC. There is a symbol of the plug in. it is a rectangular divided into 6 squares. the top left is blank, no wire into the back. Two more in top and then three on the bottom. You put a jumper from the bottom left to the bottom middle. This should shoe on your plug diagram as a black line from on to the other. The plug in holes a tiny, so I usually strip out a piece of stranded wire and take two or three strands to use as a jumper.

Hi, The switch should be down on the left side of the console or to the right of the steering column. The other method of clearing all the codes is to disconnect the neg terminal of the battery for at least twenty (20 ) seconds, yes that means you need to reset your radio and clock but it is an easy way if you still can't locate the switch. You shoud have no trouble locating it unless someone dissabled it and threw it away or somethinmg like that though. Good luck and hope this helps. Steve H.

actaully the SES nag and CEL share the same lamp and are independent functions.

have the SES nag light and goes on , with 50k,80k and so on.

the slide switch for the nag is hidden well.

If you are wanting to fold up the seat for more cargo space the handle on my 96 Geo Tracker is on the rear center floor latch. You get to it from the rear door.

the cheaper cars, have no hydraulic valve lifters. (solids are way cheaper)

as a motor starts the metal expanded (all if it and at different rates)

the expansion make the valve stick open hot.

this causes the lifters to hold the valve open all the time , causing them to

glow red hot. to solve this issues. they invented valve lash , on all otto cycle

engine for 100 years. called VALVE LASH or VALVE tip clearance.

this lash must never be zero or interference at TDC .

it must be loose (LASH) as the spark fires, and both valves closed 100% not 99%.

the hydraulic lifters solve these issues by being automatic.

they compensate for engine expansion.
