Why wont my 1988 Firebird start at all it has spark the fuel pump works fine but seem like its not getting gas?

If the fuel filter is clogged up the car will not start at all... it's worth replacing and should be done once a year. Costs about $10

No, I had the same problem with my 95 firebird. Check the fuel pump relay. It's located in the driver side under the kick board under the dash. Might be in a different place on your car. But mine kept popping the relay and I found out it is because the fuse box for the relay has a short in it.Answer
try replacing the mapp sensor
also if that doesn't work..had same issue on my 88 birdmake a long story short after a pump...relay...and all new relays under hood..winded up being a 3 in piece of rubber that goes between ur pump and lines in tank...check it for rot..and u got ur answer...it wound up not getting gas or get gas for a sec then die hope this helps.

How do you install 1977 taillights on a 1979 trans am?

To do it correctly you have to cut out your tail panel and put the '77-'78 tail panel in. As you've probably found out, the bolt patterns and depth of the bolts are different between the two years.

How many horsepower does the stock Pontiac 400 Big Block have?

Depends GREATLY on the year of manufacture, and if it was a high or low performance motor from the factory. The highest production motor was the 1969-1970 high compression Ram Air IV at an underrated 370hp @ 5500rpm. Later (after 1974) smog motor 400 4bbl motors were 180-220hp. There were even 2bbl economy 400's that were rated at 170hp. There was also the over the parts counter Ram Air V crate engine in 1969-1970. It had no offical factory HP rating, but close to stock Royal Pontiac tuned test cars back in the day ran 11.60-11.80's at 116-120 mph, suggesting an actual output somewhere over of 500hp. Less than 200 were produced and go for huge money today (like $10k for a set of heads and $5-6K for an intake!)

How do you get the plastic piece off to get to the rear hatch lock?

1995 firebird Why is it overheating overheating?

one thing that you should really know about the firebirds are the fact that they have no grille so there really is no air flow to the engine. They are alreadym notorios for being too hot. What most of these cars rely on is what's called an air dam which is located under your car. This device is aerodynamically designed to re-direct air flow up into the engine to help cool it of. This might be what your problem is. At least that's what was going on with my friends 1988 firebird trans am GTA. Mine is a 1984 abd is equipped with a ram air which sucks it from the top. You should check it out.

How do you change a fog light bulb in a 91 Firebird?

Reach underneath to get behind it. You then unplug the light (and holder) to reveal lamp. Similiar to the new halogen headlights where you replace just the bulb instead of the entire casing. It's really a pain to reach it. BE CAREFUL to not touch the glass part of the new bulb. Most are halogen and will burn out prematurely if grease or even oil from your fingers are left on it.

Did Pontiac make a 5 speed firebird convertible in 1969?

No, the 5 speed wasn't ever put in any American cars back in 69, they were all 3 and 4 speeds.

Is there a turbo kit available for a 95 3.4 camaro V6?

Yes, you just have to look around. I just saw a website that had a turbo for sale for around 2 grand, its used but it'd would probably give you 5-6PSI which is like a 40% increase in overall power. they are hard to come by and i don't know why, doesn't make sense to put a turbo on a V6, just buy a 350 V8 5.7L engine and drop it in the F-body, then get a turbo. you could pump out a good 400 horses with just that, add a chip, bore out the cylinders, and some other performance parts and you'll be one fast dude.

help any?

A turbo on a V6 will outrun any 350 any day. Considering that the turbo is designed and installed correctly, you can possibly triple the horsepower of the V6

Oh by the way,,,adding a decent turbo to a 350 V* that is designed properly can give you 700-800 horsepower.

And a decent 350/5.7 in practically new running condition will run you about $4000. Cheaper and more efficient to turbo the V6

Is Pontiac making a new fire bird?

No. Pontiac was contractually dead to G.M. on November 1, 2010 @ 12:01 A.M.

There are images floating around of what's largely seen as a bodykit mod to the 5th gen Camaro that has a paint job to match.

How do you replace the fuel pump on a 1996 Pontiac firebird trans am?

You don't want to know, If you are asking this question you should take the car to a shop and have them do it as the rear axle and exhaust both have to come out of the car.

Why will the Car take a jump but wont stay running?

Check the alternator. If you can't get the vehicle to a shop that will check it for you, put a charger on the battery for a while then using a volt meter, see what the voltage output is after you start the engine.

Your alternator should be able to maintain somewhere between 13 and 14 VDC to the battery when the engine is slightly above an idle. Anything below 12V indicates that the alternator is done.
