Why would the odometer a 2000 Saturn sc2 drop from 91000 miles to 37000 miles?

Where is the crank sensor located on a 1999 Saturn SL2 and how do you change it?

The crank sensor is behind the starter. Remover the starter at the back of the engine and you will see the sensor

Where is the sensor that sends the signal to the cooling fan to make it turn on for a 1993 Saturn SC2 coupe?

I just replaced the sensor on my 1998 Saturn SL2.. The temperature sensor/switch is inline with the spark plugs on the drivers side on the engine block and has 2 wires coming from it to the wiring harness. It takes a 13mm deep well socket to remove the sensor. The wires just unplug from the sensor by using a screwdriver to raise the tabs off. simple.

Where is the tensioner for the serpentine belt on a Saturn?

The belt tensioner is located below and in front of the power steering pump. It is accessed easiest by taking off the passenger front tire, taking the plastic panels out and looking just in front of and above the alternator. Turn it clockwise to release tension on the belt, NEVER turn it counter clockwise as this will loosen the bolt that holds the pulley on the tensioner and will cause very bad things if it flys off while you are driving on the freeway...personal experience. The tensioner is held on by (2) 10mm bolts, and you will have to remove the pulley to get to them, just make sure you tighten the bejeezus out of the pulley bolt.

How do you get the coolant light to go out in a 2000 Saturn L?

The coolant light is supposed to indicate when the coolant level is low. If you're certain that the vehicle coolant level is up, check the electrical connections and finally the sensor.

You've got a 1996 Saturn SL 4 cylinder 5 Speed won't go into gear when car is running Shifts fine when engine is off you'd even settle for a picture of how this system works?

Where is the water leak in your 94 Saturn SC2 that gets your floor mats wet?

check your blower motor, located under the dash board. its on the passenger side. if the leak is on the drivers side, i have no clue. but my hubby's car is leaking water from the blower motor on the passenger side. found out at the car wash...

How do you replace the crankshaft position sensor in a 97 Saturn SL1?

I have a Saturn SC2, it shouldn't be that much different. You're gonn need to jack your car up because you can only get to it from the bottom. It's goona be a feeling game, but the crankshaft sensor is right behind the starter. You can see from the top to get a good idea where it is and another way is to follow the positive battery wire to the stater. To change the sensor you're gonna need 10mm rachet, the bolt will be first just fit around, remember it's a feeling game, just loosen the bolt and pull up, the sensor going to ba attached to a green connector with a yellow wire and a purple wire, unhook and replace with new sensor. When I changed mine today, I noticed my sensor was cracked. Any questions feel free to reply.

How much should it cost to replace the headgasket on a 96 Saturn SLI 1.7 L?

I was told by a mechanic I called that to replace the headgasket for a 95 sw1 will be around 800-1100 depending on how much machining is needed.

SOHC engine is known for cracking heads. Reman head from Saturn is approx $300. If you need a head I/d say at least 1000

When replacing the front end on a 1997 Saturn SL1 will parts from a 2002 Saturn SC2 interchange?

If you strip the entire front end off, the units should be swappable. The only thing that Im not sure of is how the fenders will line up with the A-piller, and your door. I also seem to recall something about the height of the radiator mount in the subframe, I think the mount sits lower in the SC2's then the older SL1's. this may cause a problem with the hood latch if the upper radiator supports are different.

How do you get the drivers side window up?

I assume this is a manual crank window, not power windows. If the hand crank just spins around without raising the window all the way, the regulator inside the door is stripped. You'll need to remove the outer door panel to get to it, and a drill to drill out the rivets that hold the regulator in (and rivets or bolts to install the next one). Best to get a manual that covers that. Also, get a "new" one that works from a junkyard, and removing it will show you how to get the sucker out. Good luck.

----------------------

The drivers side electric motor is the first one to wear out (the most used). A replacement motor can be bought for about $100. Take the door cover off and you will see 3 rivets holding the motor. Carefully drill these out, remove and replace the motor. I have replaced 3 of these -2 drivers, 1 passenger. On one I used 3 bolts/nuts to hold the motor in place.

What are each wire on the radio harness of a 93 Saturn sl1?

If you are looking to install an aftermarket stereo in you Saturn it is easiest to buy the factory wiring harness adapter from your local audio components retailer and not hack off the factory plug. The harness adapter has all wires identified and is included for free if you buy your stereo from Crutchfield.com. good luck

How do you find the distributor cap on a 1996 Saturn sl?

All Saturn S-series use DIS (Distributorless Ignition System). Instead of a distributor, it uses coil-packs to create spark. These coil packs fire two cylinders apiece and are controlled by the computer.

On a 1999 SW2 Saturn what kind of symptoms would I see if the timing chain needed replacing?

A timing chain, that needs to be replaced, can cause your engine to run rough and lose power. A broken timing chain can cause significant engine damage.

Does a manual transmission on a Saturn sl1 have to have fluid in it to engage starter?

Your manual transmission does not have to have fluid in it in order to start the engine. Theoretically you can start the engine with the transmission out of the vehicle totally. That being said.... Its not a good idea to start the engine if there is no fluid in the transmission just in case someone tries to move the vehicle by putting it in gear. You do not want to drive the vehicle with no fluid in the trans.

What could the problem be if your 1994 Saturn SW2 has a knocking noise and smells of gasoline in the engine oil?

interior blown head gasket. you need to call a rebuild shop or a dealer immediately. Answer Another possibility is that the piston rings or the piston itself is bad and fuel is making its way past the piston/cylinder area and into the base of the engine......in either case, it needs attention ASAP.

Where is the engine coolant temperature sensor on a mk4 fiesta 1.3?

the temp sensor is on the drivers side, back of the engine near the inlet manifold, hope this helps a little, took me hours to find it :)

Is a Saturn 1.9 engine a interference motor?

An "interference engine" typically refers to the fact that the valves are retracted into the head when the piston comes to the top of it's stroke and that if the valves are not retracted in time, the piston would otherwise collide with the valves, causing extensive engine damage.

The answer to that question is, "yes"; but then, most modern engines are interference type, since that is necessary if an engineer wishes to produce an efficient and powerful internal combustion engine.

The Saturn 4 cylinder engine uses a timing chain to keep the valve timing synchronized with the crankshaft. While many less adequately designed engines use timing belts which require periodic replacement, the Saturn 4 cylinder engines do not require that the timing chains be replaced unless the engine is being rebuilt.
