Has anyone tried the Monroe quick strut assembly on their vehicle?
if you have a Saturn S Series (Mon171924) ,Stay away from them, Both front Struts will squeak and drive you CRAZY Hopefully Monroe will have solution for this problem.
It will fit, just press the lower A-frame further down than what you are doing now. I used an anchor bolt to draw it down. It is difficult, but once done, no problem. The next answer might be correct if you are talking about actually changing the entire strut assembly yourself, i.e. take the spring off. Don't do that! However, if you are only going to replace the unit as an assembly then there is no problem. This Is Dangerous, You Need A Special Press To Change Struts.Buy Them Where They Also Change Them, Or Better Let An Alingment Take Care Of This For You. Rotate Tires & Get An Alignment While You Are There Also.
How to replace rear shock absorbers on 1994 grand marquis?
You will need 2 jacks. 1. Jack up the rear body on the side you are working on and remove the wheel. 2. Place a jack underneath the rear axle to support it. (you will find a screw type jack helpful - I needed to raise and lower the axle to get pressure on the rod and to get the nut on. 3. Get a wrench (14mm normally) that will be long enough to reach the shock nut between the frame and the body. 4. With the wrench attached to the nut, twist the boot of the shock counterclockwise. Hold the wrench so the nut is broken loose. 5. If the boot just spins, you will have to cut a portion of it off to access the push rod. You will then need channel locks or vise grips to twist it. (Note, a ratcheting wrench is helpful, but not necessary.) 6. Once you get the top off, the rest is easy. 7. I found that a little masking tape to hold the bushing and washer into position when reinstalling the new shock handy. 8 Good luck, wish I could say the job is fun, but to be honest, its pretty brutal. Be sure you have a lot of space where you can throw tools. :-)

Is it tough to replace the rear struts on a 1999 Hyundai Accent?
Yes, and potentially dangerous. Better to have a shop do it if you're not familiar with cars (you'll need a spring compressor if just replacing the shock, but an impact wrench is a must whether your replacing the shock or the whole strut). However, the service manuals for Hyundai can be found on line at http://www.hmaservice.com/webtech/ Click on the "shop" tab, choose your car and find the information you are looking for. How do you change struts on a 2001 Jetta GLX VR6?
For front struts: Jack up your car and secure it on jackstands and get underneath the car and look to see where the lower part of the stut bolts behind the rotor. take out that bolt and then go to the top of the strut tower (in engine bay) and take off those nuts( its best to use an impact wrench to take these on and off. Or go buy the special strut tool. After that bolt is out you should be able to maneuver the strut out of place. Repeat that for the other side.
For Rear Struts: Make sure your cars jacked up in the back and secured on jackstands. Then pop your trunk and you will have to move the carpet out of the way to get at the rear stut towers. Do the same thing as in the first by going under the car and taking out that bolt in the strut mount. Then go to the top and take out that bolt for the top strut mount. Maneuver strut out of place. Repeat for other side as well.
For removing springs from struts: USE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN REMOVING SPRINGS!!!!!! You will need to either go to your local auto parts store and rent a spring compressor. Or what i would recommend is take the whole strut and spring assembly to a local auto garage and have them remove them since they are experienced. Have them put your springs on your new struts as well while you are there. it shouldn't cost much money and you will be sure it was done correctly.
Installation is the reverse of Removal. Mkae sure you torque the bolts to the specified amount. Im not sure what it is, maybe like 35-40 ft/lbs. don't quote me on that though.

How do you replace Chrysler Concorde trunk struts?
It's pretty simple to replace these truck struts. First, you find the right ones online. Make sure they say they will fit your year Concorde. Don't get the trunk struts for the Dodge Stratus or another car as they will not be long enough. Always replace them in pairs. They will cost about $30 for the pair.
Replacing them you only need a screwdriver and maybe a rubber mallet (I used the palm of my hand). You take the caps off with the screwdriver, and take the worn struts off and recycle them. To get them off you use the mallet or your hand. Hit straight and be careful.
Then, you snap the new ones on the same way. Be careful as the new ones will be very strong and your truck will pop up really fast. This could damage your truck, so use two hands to open it, and let it raise up gently.

How do you replace shocks and struts on a Volvo S60?
To replace the shocks and struts on a Volvo S60, start by safely lifting the vehicle and removing the wheels for access. Then, detach the old strut assembly by removing the bolts connecting it to the knuckle and the top mount under the hood. Install the new struts by reversing the removal process, ensuring all bolts are tightened to the manufacturer’s specifications. Finally, reassemble the wheels, lower the vehicle, and perform a wheel alignment to ensure proper handling.
Shocks should be changed when you notice a significant drop in ride quality, excessive bouncing, or uneven tire wear, as these signs indicate that the shocks may no longer be effectively dampening the vehicle's movements. Additionally, if you hear unusual noises such as clunking or knocking when driving over bumps, it's a good indicator that the shocks are failing. Regular inspections, typically every 50,000 miles or during routine maintenance, can help determine their condition as well. If in doubt, consult a mechanic for a professional assessment.
