If its the newer 1999 jetta, it takes somewhere between 4 and 5 quarts. When I change my oil I always put a little over 4 quarts and then check my oil level. If its low I keep adding more until there's enough. Sometimes it takes a little while because you have to crank the car to let the oil circulate for a little while and then shut it off and let it sit. That way you can tell how much oil is really in there.

If no spare set exists, you will want to contact a locksmith who will use a device to go under the window and pop your lock. This will run you between $50 to $200 depending on your location. You may have roadside assitance that came with the car and/or if you belong to an auto club. Not a member? You can call 1-800-AAA-HELP and become a member. This will count as one of your 3 roadside assistance calls included eith your annual membership. The membership is generally under $100 a year.

Usually it's a wheel balance issue, but it can also be worn steering components, a bent wheel, a faulty tire or a bad CV joint.

Here is how I did it. First, get a good pair of gloves. You want to cut the plastic cover off of the gear shift. Then, with a pair of locking pliers, twist hard. The white plasic knob will strip out and off of the gear shift, its ribbed, and from what I can tell, its made to only go on. The gloves are for when you cut the plastic cover off. You dont want to end up in the er, and one slip is all it takes. But as with many things, YMMV.

manual tranny's take gear oil not tranny fluid. you need to get all that fluid out and fill the tranny with 80/90 weight gear oil

There will be four screws on the bottom of the seat. One on each corner.

I'm having the same difficulty on my 2005 Freestyle. The latch freezes, and when I go to shut the door, it just bounces back open. I have had some success blowing a blow dryer into the latch mechanism. It is only temporary though. It seems that there's some moisture in the mechanism, or some other supply of moisture getting to the mechanism (perhaps some ice frozen in the window seal that's melting, dripping, and refreezing). Some quick internet research has seemed to yield the following steps which I'll try this evening. 1. Eliminate any source of water getting into the door. 2. Blow dry for an extended period of time. Enough to dry the inside of the door out. 3. Check the drain holes at the bottom of the door to ensure that they are open and draining. Good luck.

Well, first off it's a truck so it's not going to get the best mileage in the world. However, here's all the usual things. Does it need a good tune up? self explanatory How fast do you drive it? slowing down saves gas Jack rabbit starts in town? easy on the throttle, it helps How's your tire pressure? low tires use more gas Sixteen mpg's doesn't sound unreasonable to me for a truck but if it's rated a lot higher, say twentyfive mpg's or so you might want to have it looked at. Silverado's have never been considered an economy vehicle. That's probably the best mileage you'll get without seriously changing your driving style.

IF the steering wheel was turned all the way, then turned off U will have 2 use some force 2 turn the wheel as 2 take the pressure off the locking mechanism- just hold down hard on the steering wheel & u should b able 2 turn the key.Try one way then the other-U will feel the resistance one way.

The cost to replace the throttle position sensor on a 1999 Jetta depends on whether the engine is gas or diesel. The gas engine throttle position sensor will cost around $100 just for the part. The diesel engine part is slightly higher. Labor costs are around $75 to $100 per hour depending on where the vehicle will be serviced. This job should take about one hour.

We took the electric unit out of the trunk, disassembled it and wound the screw jack to the position needed to keep the trunk closed. This took a couple of times to get it right. We left the unit unplugged and now it operates as a regular, non-self-closing trunk. The electric release still works fine.

I had a similar problem and it was a faulty horn pad on the steering wheel. In my case, the horn would honk when I didn't press the pad (yeah, other drivers really liked that -and in the middle of the night, it was a nice wakeup from our closely attached garage). Other times, when Idid want to honk, the horn would either not work or it would "stick" and continue to honk. From your question, I gather that you press the pad to honk and then let off, but the horn continues to sound. If this is the case, my guess is a faulty horn pad that continues to make an electrical connection even after you take pressure off the pad. Since the horn pad may also contain vital airbag components, I suggest that you take it to reputable repair shop for a look.

It is pretty straight forward. The new mirror glass costs about $65. Once you get it you will see that the glass has two electrical connections on it where the wires attach, and plastic tabs that snap onto the mechanical piece inside the housing that moves the mirror up and down. Attach the wires, center the glass in the housing, and push the glass firmly onto the mechanical piece that adjusts. That's it.

I found I could get at the mirror assemby by unscrewing the Philips screw on the front-inner side of the door, nearest the mirror, then "pop" the fasteners by pulling on the door cover and lifting it out of the window tray (might help if the window is down). The top corner of the door can then be pulled back about four inches, which is all you need (I propped it open for the remaining steps). Then unscrew the speaker cover (I think it's a T-20 size star head) and remove the foam backing. Now you can get to the bolt holding the mirror on, which is a 7/32 star/hex head (IIRC). Screw that off and disconnect the wire clip, then your new mirror should fit right on.

Note - this is from what I've researched. I'm getting ready to buy an '08 Tahoe and I have the same question. From what I understand, it's very simple. There is a plug that runs underneath the driver's seat, and you simply unplug that cable at the connector. The guy had an '07 Tahoe and he said it stopped the seatbelt chime.

Or ask the dealer for seatbelt extenders and leave the extenders plugged in. That's what I did in my 07 Sierra. Dealer ship gave me the extenders free when I bought the truck. Probably because I looked like I needed them.
