What is the cost to replace intake manifold gasket on 2000 Saturn SCl?
The cost of replacing a part is a very general question that unless specified exactly is hard to answer. First, is who is replacing the part? Is the Dealer, an independent repair shop, a junkyard, the guy next door or you doing the replacement. These will all yield different prices. Not to mention that within all of these will be different labor rates and different part price mark ups. Second, what is the quality of the part? Is it a name brand, generic (white box, economy), OEM or used part? All of these will be different. Price will even differ between name brands, sometimes significantly. Thirdly, What is the warranty of the part and who is offering the warranty (the shop the parts house or the manufacturer). Limited Lifetime will have restrictions. Lifetime warranty isnt always the best part either. Fourthly, Each vehicle can have different options that will affect how long it takes to change a part or make it call for a different part. Such as heavy duty cooling system, air conditioning, 4x4s may have a steel plate that may need removal, Automatic or manual transmission, the list goes on. Fifthly, What additional parts will be required? Long life coolant or standard coolant, R12 or R134a air conditioning freon if it needs to be discharged or replaced? Additional adapters other fluids that may need to be added or changed? All of this will affect price. Sixthly, is the car a new car or an older car? Labor manuals or guides are set up based on a new car. Additional time may be required due to seized or rusted bolts, additional aftermarket accessories that were installed etc. So you can see where there is a great potential for variances. I offer this insight: If you take it to an independent garage like I always recommend, consider how long they have been in business. What is the quality of there work, are they honest? (see the FAQ how do you choose an auto repair shop for additional insights).

AnswerWell I took my 2001 SL2 to my local dealer and they told me it would be $435 to replace the intake manifold gasket! And then they told me they could have it done in less than 2 hours. Talk about a rip off!How do you remove the intake manifold on a 1988 vw jetta?
Just an update, we didn't want to take the time in removing the fuel system so we held it to the side and unscrewed the 8 bolts holding the intake in, after that it was pretty simple to detach the intake manifold and "finagle" it out. However, i did run into a problem with the chosen header going in to replace the old exhaust manifold and had to grind the outsides of the intake manifold around the bolt holes in order to make the exhaust manifold fit correctly.
What is lapping of inlet valves?
"Lapping" of valves is a method of smoothing the seating areas of the valve. There are specific angles that the valve seats into and lapping is a very precision way of making that fit as tight as possible.
How do you change the cabin air filter in a Honda Pilot?
For 2009 or later Honda Pilot, it is very easy - a 5 minute job - and no tools required. The filters are around $25 from Honda (80292-SHJ-A41) but much cheaper after market.
I changed mine at 19K and it was VERY dirty. I would recommend changing every year - especially if you have allergies.
For 2008 and older - you need to cut the plastic tab and take out screws.

Where is the blower motor resistor for a 99 Olds Intrigue?
Hi,
I just replaced the resistor on my '98 Intrigue- it's quite possible they are located similarly. The resistor is located under the dash on the passenger side, right behind the blower. I had to pull the blower out to gain better access to the resistor assembly. There is a short cable assembly that connects the resistor to the blower so if you look for the two wires that come out of the back of the blower they should lead you right to the resistor.
The resistor is very hard to get to because of the hex head screws being right up against the floorboard but you only need to loosen the two back screws and remove the one in front to be able to pull the resistor assembly out. If you can get a small 5/16" socket on the screw heads you should be able to loosen them enough. There will be a larger cable assembly plugged into the resistor also. The whole procedure took me about a half hour, not a bad job but just hard to maneuver down there. !
How do you change the air filter on a 2003 Chrysler Sebring?
This one's a snap... well, about 4 snaps... At the unit that houses the filter, there are 4 snaps that hold the case together. Simply raise them up - one at a time - until the top comes off... From that point, replace the filter and reverse the process to put it back.
If you've not done this in awhile, you won't BELIEVE how dirty the old one is!

How can you fix and or replace a exhaust manifold?
You can try a temporary fix by applying an epoxy to cover the crack. (I assume that is problem - it is cracked. Common problem for the Protege) However, that is not a good fix, as far as I know. It might be an improvment for awhile, but that's all. Ask a good auto parts store for high temp epoxy. Another method is to braise with silver or some other type rod. You can look up "how to braise cast iron" on Harris website or something. There are charts saying the type rod to use. To weld it this way takes skill and tools and REMOVING THE OFFENDING PART. Once you have the manifold off the car, you light as well replace it with a new one. Repacement is probably cheaper than the cost of theBTU's required to braise it properly.

How do you replace a intake manifold gasket on a 1993 Ford Econoline E150?
You don't. Pulling those bolts often leads to breaking them which leads to re-tapping the block to get a new manifold on, which will just do the same thing once it ages a year or so. It is a poor design, I ended up welding mine on to shut it up. :/
Does any body make a high performance intake manifold for 1980 Pontiac 4.9 liter v8?
I believe edelbrock makes a selection of intake manifolds for the 4.9. I have a carb 4.9 in an 81, I'm thinking of getting one.
The 301 (4.9) Pontiac was pretty much a one off engine. To date, I know of no one that makes any type of performance intakes for it. Most people rip out the 301 and drop in a 350, 400...whatever.....since it will bolt right in. The only options you have is the factory 301 4bbl intake......or going to the T/A turbo unit.
How often should you change the filter on your heating and AC unit?
Summary
It all depends where you live -- what the air pollution levels are in your area, and what kinds of pollutants you have inside your house.
One should at least inspect the filter every 30 days and change it if necessary. If clean, check at least every 45 days. If a central air conditioning and heating system is used regularly, the filter should be changed at least once a year.
A filter change costs a couple of dollars, but it is the most important thing you can do to avoid problems later. if you let it go, the blower motor works harder, shortening its life or your evaporator coil could become your filter, blocking airflow and causing it to start icing up; this can cost hundreds of dollars to remedy.
If you smoke in your house, have inside pets, or a large amount of traffic in the house, check the filter once a week. The outside environment should be considered, since dust storms and high pollution areas do affect the filter as well.

You will see a small flap to lift, the filter is behind that. If it is like the 2002 model. Open the hood. On the big plastic piece where the wipers go through, in front of the windshield, there is a small rectangular plastic piece. It is on the passenger side. It should be facing the front of vehicle. There is a rectangular plastic cover which you just pry off, then just lift and pull out your filter to replace it. Under the hood on the passenger side above the power steering pump
How do you know if you have a warped valve?
test the compression in all cylinder bores to rule out the valves or for novice home mech. take the cylinder head in to a machine shop to have a compression test done.
A bent valve will be noisy, each time it is hit by the cam it will bang, the cylinder will not burn fuel and you may even have burning oil.
You will most liklely have a MIL light and a code for emissions like O2 sensor and/or cylinder misfire because of the unburnt fuel making the cat hot, but it could also be an intake valve so you could have backfiring through the intake and rough running for sure.
