Alarm Systems

This issue was addressed in 1993 by Ford when they recalled all 97 Ford Escorts. However, as an owner, my light still blinks after I brought it into a Ford dealership back in 93.

This questions still needs an answer. I don't think Ford fixed the problem(s).

I have a 94 Altima. I pulled a small black box from under the dashboard, just above the accelerator. It has a mess of wires leading to it. Amongst the wires are two fuses. I pulled out one and the car wouldn't start. I put that back in. Pulled out the other and the car starts fine, but the keyless entry no longer works. I hate the noise and my neighbors would hate me. So off it goes, I'll use the darn key as long as I don't have to hear that alarm.

The system uses five wires and a receiver or antenna wire that accepts the signal from the remote. A blue wire, a purple wire, a pink wire, a red wire, and a black wire. The black wire of course is the ground. The pink and red wires are set up with a vampire bite to the constant power and the ignition power. Red to constant, and pink to ignition which gets power from the "run" position when the key is so turned to it. I can't remember right now which one of the blue or purple that is connected off the vehicle harness or which one gets connected to the "start" function of turning the key, but it honestly doesn't matter because these two are the ones that conduct the "magic." In my car, a yellow wire that connects the "start" function to the starter was cut and one of those wires is connected from the main harness and the other to the starter connector at the steering column. The idea is that electrical current will attempt to travel to the starter but is routed to the pass time unit to check if the code is current, if it is the connection is made and the car starts, if not, then the circuit is not able to close and you will get no power to the starter. To bypass this, simply cut the two wires that re route that current and splice them back together leaving the pass time unit out of the routing completely. If your pass time unit is a GPS enabled one, I would suggest not tampering, but if you must, do not disconnect the unit altogether, just leave the red, black and pink wires connected so that the system can communicate that it is powered back to the company that is responsible for the surveillance of that communication.

good question. mine goes off spontaneously, often in the middle of the night. if you remove the fuse, the power windows don't work.

Kept happening on my own Mondeo. In the end removed the horn in the boot. Later found out it was the bonnet switch. Either replace it or give it a good going over with WD40. Worth a try.

Do you mean how to reset the alarm system if it goes off? If so I had to disconnect my battery cable so it could reset itself. The dealer told me to use the key on the passenger side door and unlock it. This should stop the alarm. But mine didn't work. Good Luck.

I've found with mine that if I hit the auto-lock while both the driver's and passenger's doors are open, it is more likely to arm the alarm. The only way I'm able to get it turned off other than disconnecting the battery (because my keychain remote is dead) is to open the trunk using the key. lol I have no idea why this works, but it always does.

I own a 1995 Dodge Avenger. And, when my alarm goes off, I insert my key in the drivers side door and lock and unlock the door. This is the only way I am able to turn off my alarm.

Jump start it from another vehicle or charge the battery. If the battery is bad, replace it. If you jump start it and the battery is dead you will have to wait about 15 minutes with the jump car running and connected to the dead battery, in order to build the battery up enough for it to actually take a jump.

use the consult-II with the NATS card to erase the codes. have your keys reprogrammed too.

the answer is that you need to go to a firestone or certified Pontiac dealership to find out. They have most of the codes on a computer database, but try 4663757AVW556VVC

my montero ignition got lock and the anti theft signal kept flashing even when the key is not in the ignition. what do i do

There might be bypass kits available on the internet for your car depending on which security system you have. The only other option would probably be to replace the security system itself.

I removed the battery ground cable for a couple of minutes on my 2001 F150XL and it has been working for over two years now.
