my ignition on my Honda accord will not turn over all of a sudden.could this have something to do with the viper alarm? thanks

I have a 1995 Chrysler New Yorker. The alarm used to be very annoying. If you have a remote control for the car, basically consider it your source of problems. I accidentally doused mine in water and haven't used it since. I would suggest you do the same.

Now, for starters, it's a good idea to remove the Horn Relay while you work on this, so you don't disturb your neighbors. I removed the horn relay and the system will flash lights and disable the engine crank for a while. I also disconnected the entire battery (very carefully) and came back. However, it still went off. So you just have to let it run its course with the battery plugged back up, the lights will flash and you'll hear the clicking sound inside the car, but it will eventually reset itself.

The only way you will be able to accidentally set off the alarm is by unlocking the door the wrong way from the passenger side. Again, if you continue to use the remote, you'll continue to have problems. Since I've lost the remote, the alarm has only gone off once in over a years time, as opposed to it going off constantly. My battery went dead. I am trying to jump start the 97 landcrusier and the alarm is going off. I did not set the alarm The car sat in the garage for two weeks and battery is dead. Alarm is set and I need to get it of to start the car via cables. help George We have a 96 Land Cruiser. The battery went dead and we dealt with the same problem when trying to recharge the battery. We discovered a toggle switch on the drivers side under the dash below the hood latch and gas levers. Flip that switch and you should be good to go. Apparently it resets the alarm.

Automobile alarms are supposed to go off automatically. An automobile alarm that goes off unintentionally can be caused by a malfunctioning sensor.

According to the owner's manual - you need to shut off the ignition and wait about 10 minutes for the theft system to reset. It usually doesn't take a full ten minutes, in my experience, more like 5 minutes. My own online search about this indicates that this module can go out and leave you stranded - don't know about disconnecting it.

To reset the alarm system on a 1999 Lincoln Town car without the use of a key fob the brain must be deactivated. Find the brain and unplug it.

The soldering idee (see below) is good and al but first try to "re-pair" the remote with the car ignition, for some reason it gets unpaired sometimes (might be when changing the remote's battery),

1.Sit in the car,

2. Insert the key and switch the ignition-system to on (without starting the car),

3. Press the close or open button on the remote,

the door locks should operate a couple of times and the remote should now be pared. This might cause the spare remote to stop working just remember to pair it as well next time you want to use it, this means to press its button as you did with the first (within the first 30seconds after switching the ignition, step 2). It is a common problem with the Opel Astra remote keys. But it is easy ti fix. You need a soldering iron and a magnifier. Open the key (you can find out how to open the key in the "How to change remote key battery" in the Users manual). Check with the magnifier and you will see some broken conections betwen the battery and the circuit board. If you have a bit of skill you can solder the contacts yourself. If not it is better to ask someone with experience because the circuits are very close one to each other and you can and up making a bridge betwen them. Good luck!

have you got a key lock inside your glovebox? our 93 pulsar has a special key that fits a lock that is in the gove box, it turns the system off and on.
