The thermostat could be stuck closed. the heater core could also be plugged or the door closes when you use ac and opens when you use the heater may not operate.

check the relays on the ]oassenger side under the hood there are three black ones should be the middle one juss use on of the others in its ]olaces then try ur heater

the blower motor has gone bad

Low refrigerant?

Infrequent oil changes or running with too low of oil level.

Running at consistantly too high or consistantly too low of RPMs

Running an extended period on an il-timed engine.

Timing chain jumped. An overheated condition can caused this.

An severely overheated condition can warp the block and cause this as well.

Water/fluid got in the intake

: If you can turn on the heater but only cold air comes out you should check the blend door. It controls the door to switch from cold air to hot. It sits directly behind the heater/AC controls. It is white square plastic piece (approx 3in x 5in half inch thick and has a plastic screw rod that attaches to the heater/AC controls and they strip out. Hope this helps.

The heater is probably worked by the heat generated by the engine.

There could be multiple reasons why a heater would stop working in a truck. There could be low coolant or a bad fuse to make a heater stop working in a truck. The best way to find out the reason is to take it to a certified auto mechanic.

I would say that your heater core is ok...it sounds like you have a bled door promlem in the dash.

Low coolant?

Partially plugged heater core?

Thermostat defective opening too soon?

Control cable not adjusted properly?

Water pump not circulating water?

System airbound?

Defective radiator cap not building suffient pressure?

I hate to say it, but if you have steam coming from the exaust, it's probably indicative of engine damage, possibly a blown head gasket. Generally if the radiator is cold, and the car is overheating, the possibilities include, a stuck closed thermostat, a stopped up radiator, a non-fuctioning water pump, or possibly a severly low level of coolant in the system, i.e., not enough coolant in the engine to circulate any through the radiator. Whatever you do, do not attempt to open the radiator cap while the engine is hot. You will severly burn yourself. Wait until the car is cold, open the radiator cap, and check the coolant level. My suspicion is that you will not see any coolant, because it has all either leaked out, or been boiled out. If you find this, I reccommend you get some help properly filling the radiator. It OS not as easy as just putting water in, because the system, has to be "burped" that is, the air pockets must be purged with a process that involves constantly carefully removing the cap while the engine is running, and adding more coolant several times. This can be dangerous if you don't know exactlt what you are doing because you can severly burn yourself strongly suggest you get some help. After all this, you I suspect you will find that the engine is damaged, and needs fairly expensive repair.

Most common things are Thermostat or a bad heater core but could also be something blocking the door down by the heater core. I changed my Thermostat and Heater control Valve to find out a pencil fell in the defroster and prevented the door from closing. Hope this helps.

Buy a kit at Wal-Mart or auto parts store comes with fitting, adaptors, and instructions

go to the salvage yard and put that one in and it will work. It's not hard to get out just two wires you unplug. Make sure you take off the neg from you battery before you install the one you got.

Try replaceing the a/c relay. On my Chevy S-10 blazer the relay is on the firewall passenger side.

Your blower motor is failing and is only working on high speed.

I have the same issue, sounds like a blend door problem. Could be up to 800.00 to fix it....My 1999 Expy would blow out cool air if I played with the controls, now I only have hot air. The rear air works fine when changing the temps

you may also try the heater valve which is under the hood , the heater hoses hook to it .. i have a 99 expy with a 5.4 and my front and rear heat were dramatically fdiff. in heat neither were hot .. i changed the heater valve and waalaa .. now 16 degrees 15 mins snow melts off my windshield .. u ...

just a few seconds to permit the oil to lubricate it then go easy until it warms up it will also help your transmission

Poor circulation through the heater core. Probably a semi-plugged heater core or a faulty thermostat (assuming the coolant level is full).

If the car's cabin heater element is getting no feed of hot water from the engine, the heater fan can only blow cold air!

Sounds like you could have one or more different faults:

* A faulty coolant water thermostat: it may be stuck "always open" so any hot water from the engine block goes mainly to the car's radiator and hardly any is being allowed to reach the car's cabin heater. That is a very common cause of this problem in any car that is more than 10 years old. It should not be a big or expensive job to replace a faulty thermostat.

* There could be some air trapped (known as an air lock) or some other kind of blockage in the heating system which is preventing hot water from flowing from the engine block into the car's cabin heater element. The hose between the engine block and the heater element needs to be inspected for a physical blockage or an air lock.

* The engine's head gasket has blown slightly, allowing a small leak of exhaust gas to build up in the engine coolant. If that is what has happened another tell-tale sign - apart from the cold heater - is that some engine oil may be visible floating on top of the coolant water if the radiator cap is removed when the engine is cold. Any car mechanic should be able to check your car's heating system for the above faults. They are fairly common in any make of older car, especially if the engine coolant/anti-freeze has never been flushed out and renewed throughout a long running life.
